Subject: My 2009 Igor Awards (Amended Oscars) cast your votes!
Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 02/01/09 at 6:59 pm
I didn't get to see a whole bunch of movies last year compared to 2007. That's why I need your help. I need you to help me decide the best (and worst) in movies from January 1, 2008 to January 22, 2009, when those other guys announced their nominations.
Below is the official Igor ballot. You may vote for as many per category as you want. More categories will be added. Your votes are all due on Friday, February 13, 2009, unless I have to change the date for whatever reason. The deadline has been changed to Friday, February 20, 2009. Vote by replying to this thread with your choices and why you chose them (Remember, discussions). The votes will be counted and the final results will be posted to coincide with those other guys, who do their little puppet show on February 22. By the way, in case you're wondering, a lot of these nominees (esp. the movies I didn't see) are based on public opinion, critics' reviews, other people's reviews, and whether I think the movie would be interesting or stupid.

My choices are mostly based on personal preference. Of course, if Twilight had been in every category, I would say they would win, but I have to be a little bit serious. ;)
I deleted the options I had no idea about.
And of course, if Heath Ledger wins, he will roll over in his grave! He hated anything to do with glorifying actors for doing their jobs.

Thank you for your votes. I originally posted this on IMDb but wasn't get anybody to vote at the time. Nobody has been voting at MovieTome, either. At least somebody on IMDb finally voted, but there is a severe shortage of votes. Unless I can get some more voters, soem categories with have ties with single votes.
Anybody willing to jump on the bandwagon? ;D

Who's Igor? Is this a combo Oscar/Razzie?

Who's Igor? Is this a combo Oscar/Razzie?
To answer your second question: Yes, this is a combo Oscar/Razzie. Like many of us, we felt that a certain film or two The Dark Knight was/were misrepresented as an Oscar nomination. http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/01/batman.gif And I felt that I should do the film justice, the same way I did it last year when I made Rob Zombie's Halloween sweep the awards last year.
To answer your second question, there is no Igor. All of the other names are taken; the original name for the "award" was Felix, but that already exists, so this year I changed it to Igor (although I would also have gone with Ingmar, though Pushing Daisies is a TV series, not a movie) because it was one of the only names I could come up with.

Best Picture -- I have "The Dark Knight" edging "Iron Man". I thought TDK was better plotwise, but Iron Man was better action-wise.
Worst Picture -- I only saw "10000 BC" and it was pretty bad.
Best Actor -- I voted for Will Smith because he was great as a superbastard.
Best Actress -- Charlize Theron. She's hawt.
Best Supp Actor -- Heath Ledger. He made the Joker awesome.
Best Supp Actress -- gotta think a bit here, I'm pretty sure Kate Winslet was good in something :D
Worst Actor -- Keanu Reeves in anything
Worst Actress -- Let's go with anything involving Lindsay Lohan
Worst Supporting Actor -- I'd have to go with Terence Howard in "Iron Man"...he just didn't seem right for the role, I think they were right to replace him with Don Cheadle for the sequels
Worst Supporting Actress -- Angelina Jolie in Kung Fu Panda was pretty useless
Best Director -- Chris Nolan, for making TDK awesome
Worst Director -- Uwe Boll! How could you exclude Uwe Boll?
Best Adapted Screenplay -- I heard Slumdog Millionaire was pretty good
Best Original Screenplay -- Be Kind Rewind was a very good movie
Best Song -- I'll have to go with Bruce Springsteen. Go Boss!
Not Worthy -- Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Panda...he was just kinda there, he should've had a bigger role

Worst Picture for 'Get Smart'? OF all the movies I saw in 2008, that was one of the best. I loved it. To each his/her own though
I like Christian Bale, but I don't know about best actor for The Dark Knight He did a good job in the role, but realistically, anyone can put on a bat suit and run around the city saving the day. It's the villains who make superhero movies what they come to be
IF anything. Nic Cage as worst actor for 'Bangkok Dangerous. That movie sucked big time ass

I have changed the deadline to Friday, February 20, 2009, which is closer to Oscar night, and it gives me more time to lure in new voters. Still not a lot of people voting: One person on IMDb, two people here, and zero on MovieTome, plus my own votes.
Best Minor Character
Daeg Faerch as French boy Michel, Hancock
Stan Lee as himself, Iron Man
Tom Morello as Insurgent #5, Iron Man
The guy walking behind the clapping Joker, The Dark Knight
The guy on the TV in the mob room, The Dark Knight

I would have to say Scorcese or Welles.

I'm gonna need more votes, because the deadline is approaching! With the overall lack of votes, I decided to factor in reviews from Google Movie Reviews and Rotten Tomatoes, and other critic reviews. With those factored in, the numbers are huge, and it's close among the copntenders.
Have a field day with voting. Everything is due February 20, 2009!

Yup, today's the deadline. I hope you all got your votes in, and I'd like to thank those of you who voted for your favorites. I would also like to note that I finally got to see Hancock, via the Unrated version.
The winners will be announced in the style of a mock-Oscar "ceremony" to coincide with the other guys. See you there! ;)
