lol Too cute.  I don't play the lottery.  As for the Superbowl, I know who I am supporting, but will be happy watching the score unfold.  Thanks for the offer though!  :)  Now that you mention those names, some of them are familiar, though not all of them.  Our countries had some good players/years "back in the day" didn't they?  What do you suppose happened?  I remember when "everyone" thought Agassi and Sampras were going to bring the game back and also thought Becker could do something.  Yet somehow they never took off the way their predecessors did....(just my opinion of course)

February has always been my least favorite month.  Not the end of winter, not the beginning of spring. I just wait for it to be over.  8-P

Just been down town to buy a balloon for my Dad, man it is cvold out there. We are waiting for a snow storm to hit.

Today we are going over to my parents for my Dad's birthday meal. His birthday was in November but he was too sick for an kind of party then so it got cancelled. We all kind of forgot about that then my Mum suddenly decided to have it this weekend. So I have bought him a birthday balloon so he can be like the queen, with 2 birthdays.  ;D

I went through the most excrutiating pains I have ever experienced last Thursday. Well, it all started in the night before, when I woke up because of the pain - but it subsided within half an hour or so, so I slept on and I went to work on Thursday as usual. Then the pain returned around noon, susbsided again somewhat and I felt like maybe I could make it through the day. But around 4 o'clock the pain intensified and I decided I'd better go see a doctor. By that time I also started to vomit, so my colleagues realized I wasn't joking (like I ever am!).
One of my colleagues drove me to the hospital (after we'd seen my home doctor) where I had to undergo the usual tests before I was finally diagnosed with kidney stones. They had to give me a double dose of painkillers before the pain subsided.
I hardly ate that evening, and I didn't sleep very well too (not because of the pain, 'cause I was free of that during the night. It must've been the unusual circumstances for me, as I had never been hospitalized before.).

Friday started off well (without pain), though I still had no appetite. In the cause of the day the pain started to intensify again to a point where it was hardly bearable anymore. If you ever had a kidney stone, you know what I'm talking about. You can't sit, can't walk, can't lie down, can't stand... It made me wanna bang my head into a solid brick wall, I can tell you. Luckily I was given an extra dose of painkillers, which immediately kicked in. After that I also felt like eating and (most importantly) drinking again.
I had a good meal on Friday evening, followed by what could've been a decent night if it hadn't been for the pain of others on the ward. I really felt for this one lady, who had to lie down flat after being operated on a double slipped disk (among other things). She must've gone through a hell, not being able to move at all, and with agonizing pains and itching everywhere.

On Saturday I had no more pain. Initially because of the painkillers, but later that day it was decided that I'd be taken off medication to check the effect. Well, lo and behold... the pain stayed away! :D
So with the pain gone, there wasn't any reason anymore to keep me in hospital. So I left hospital Saturday evening, and spent the following night with my brother and sister (just to be on the safe side, in case the pain returned). Luckily, the pain has stayed away. I'm guessing my kidney stone must have reached my bladder by now (and it may be even further down south).

This evening I went home again, and tomorrow, I have to call the hospital to make an appointment for a check-up, to see if the stone's really gone. Well, I don't feel it anymore, so I'm thinking it has to be.

Sorry to hear about all your pain and suffering,lets hope the stone has passed..I know Tim Sr. had kidney stones and he said the pain was so unbearable he almost passed out.

I never passed out because of the pain, but I know I was hoping I would at some points.
The only time I felt a pain closely similar to this was when I had an inflammation of the root canal - and I've had that twice.

See I complain bout something, and somebody always has it worse.  My life is just full of little annoyances right now, but they can be frustrating.... :-[


By the way kid is fine - playing and etc... never had a fever, don't know what caused her to be sick, just was.  Funny thing is she blamed it on the cat.  "Mom Java threw up in my bed"  , I thought it was odd, but a furball who knows.... Go in the room and there is stuff all over her pillow and her and such :P  I told her I didn't think it was Java, quote "Well I don't know who threw up in my bed then  ::)"  I am not sure if she was afraid she was going to get into trouble, we have been trying to encourage them to try and make it to the bathroom ( OR atleast the hardwood floor instead of the bed)....  Oh well..

My arm has red welts, luckily it was just the water and not grease, hurts though.

Well we are still having superbowl party, everyone decided they would come anyway :-\\  So I have had to clean, grocery shop, cook and now doing laundry....  Hope it is worth it

On Saturday I had no more pain. Initially because of the painkillers, but later that day it was decided that I'd be taken off medication to check the effect. Well, lo and behold... the pain stayed away! :D
So with the pain gone, there wasn't any reason anymore to keep me in hospital. So I left hospital Saturday evening, and spent the following night with my brother and sister (just to be on the safe side, in case the pain returned). Luckily, the pain has stayed away. I'm guessing my kidney stone must have reached my bladder by now (and it may be even further down south).

This evening I went home again, and tomorrow, I have to call the hospital to make an appointment for a check-up, to see if the stone's really gone. Well, I don't feel it anymore, so I'm thinking it has to be.





Sorry, Henk.  We are hardly ever on at the same time, so I didn't think anything was out of the ordinary *hugs*

At any rate, I'm very sorry to hear that you have had to go through all that.  I have never had them personally, but have heard that they cause unbelievable pain.  I am glad the pain is gone and hope it stays that way.  Let us know what you find out at the check up.

Well we are still having superbowl party, everyone decided they would come anyway :-\\  So I have had to clean, grocery shop, cook and now doing laundry....  Hope it is worth it



Sorry things are still running rough for you.  Glad it is ok that I laughed about the cat part.  Why don't you ditch and come over here.  You don't have to cook, clean, do laundry or shop and can enjoy the commercials to your heart's content.

Hope your arm feels better by now 2kidsami and that you have a successful SuperBowl party.  You would think that living in Pittsburgh (as I do), I would be delirious with excitement and having my own party (or going to any number of parties at one of the local watering holes) but alas, I am one of the few in this city that don't really care much (although it is cute how they have decorated the city in the excitement of the big game).  (Various statues have Steeler colored scarves wrapped around them.)

As for me, well, hubby had severe flu symptoms on Friday night/Saturday morning...basically stuff was either coming up or going out both ends (sorry...trying to be delicate)  8-P  He passed out after the sixth time throwing up, and because we are not familiar with the Veterans System hospitals (there are three in the local area) I took him to the wrong one which did not have an emergency room (other then for psych patients).
By the time we got to the right hospital, he was feeling better, and we decided to hold off going to the hospital for awhile.  At least now we know which one to go to.  Basically we have both slept the rest of the weekend.  I only got sick a tiny bit as compared to his ordeal.  But we are both feeling decidedly better today.  It was a really nice warm day today (up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit/ 4 degrees Celsius) but we were both wiped out from our misadventures so we stayed in again today.  I did open the curtain though, hubby opened the door to let a little bit of fresh air in.  Thankfully the cats did not go strolling outside.

In other news, Mom had fluid drained off her lung at the doctor's office Friday.  She coughed just as the needle was going in and it deflated her lung partially!  They wanted to put her in the hospital right then, but she is one of the most stubborn women I know.  She refused because she did not know the hospital (not known anybody that was ever in there).   ::)  Because she lives so close to the Ohio / West Virginia border, her West Virginia lung doctor has license and priviledges to practice only in WV, but she insists that she wants to go to the hospital in her hometown in Ohio.  She says "Well they have lung doctors everywhere!"  Yes, mom, but I doubt he can just admit her to a hospital in a state he has no license in.  Parents are frustrating to no end.   She wonders why she isn't feeling better by now.  I can only hope she changes her mind and goes to this other hospital or somehow it works out the way she wants.  I can't seem to convince her either way.

I promise I will have cheerier news at some point.

No...you're not alone. I'm not really enthusiastic about pro football myself, but my dad was when he was growing up. Football and baseball are his two favorite sports. Anyway, since there hasn't been a pro football franchise in L.A. since the Rams left in the mid-1990s, I haven't really cared about football one way or the other. :-\\

That's alright - I laugh at her blaming the cat too ;D  I do not think that the cat ate strawberries (or other ingredients for fried ice cream :P)

The story about the cat reminds me of my sister and her mother-in-law. My sister has had thyroid problems for ever. Her dog developed a thyroid condition and her mother-in-law pointed to my sister and said, "The dog got it from you."  :D ;D ;D ;D

^ Kidney stones are excruciating.  Have they told you what you should or should not eat, I think they are caused by calcium deposits, so they suggest you stay away from dairy.  If they kick up don't waste time and get t the doctors.

It seems that February is off to a questionable start for most here.  Never been my favorite month.  I suggest everyone just keep alert, one eye over the shoulder and all that.  Hopefully we will make it through.

Nope, I hate football.

Hmmm...So nobody noticed I was AWOL? ??? :( :\'(


I went through the most excrutiating pains I have ever experienced last Thursday. Well, it all started in the night before, when I woke up because of the pain - but it subsided within half an hour or so, so I slept on and I went to work on Thursday as usual. Then the pain returned around noon, susbsided again somewhat and I felt like maybe I could make it through the day. But around 4 o'clock the pain intensified and I decided I'd better go see a doctor. By that time I also started to vomit, so my colleagues realized I wasn't joking (like I ever am!).
One of my colleagues drove me to the hospital (after we'd seen my home doctor) where I had to undergo the usual tests before I was finally diagnosed with kidney stones. They had to give me a double dose of painkillers before the pain subsided.
I hardly ate that evening, and I didn't sleep very well too (not because of the pain, 'cause I was free of that during the night. It must've been the unusual circumstances for me, as I had never been hospitalized before.).

Friday started off well (without pain), though I still had no appetite. In the cause of the day the pain started to intensify again to a point where it was hardly bearable anymore. If you ever had a kidney stone, you know what I'm talking about. You can't sit, can't walk, can't lie down, can't stand... It made me wanna bang my head into a solid brick wall, I can tell you. Luckily I was given an extra dose of painkillers, which immediately kicked in. After that I also felt like eating and (most importantly) drinking again.
I had a good meal on Friday evening, followed by what could've been a decent night if it hadn't been for the pain of others on the ward. I really felt for this one lady, who had to lie down flat after being operated on a double slipped disk (among other things). She must've gone through a hell, not being able to move at all, and with agonizing pains and itching everywhere.

Anyway Grandma is still in hospital and they are running lots of tests.As a young woman she had Tuberculosis and it damaged her lungs, the meds she has taken over the years for that have now damaged her heart apparently!?! It was sheer fluke that Himself's aunt happened to call in and found her and called an ambulance. She is one of these old ladies who 'doesn't like to trouble anyone'. Very frustrating! All her immediate family are over 6 hours drive away so it's not like any of us can keep an eye on her.

Other than that it's snowing like mad out there so I hope i can get home from work today. In the U.K we don't do snow! half a dozen flakes and everything is cancelled!  ::)

Thank you ladies. I think I am probably one of the few people who hates football but can watch a game (when I am forced to) and know what is going on.

One time I was forced to watch a game and something happened and I said, "Oh, that is a touch back." The people I was with said, "No, that not a touch back" when the announcer said it was...yup that's right, a touch back. The people I was with looked at me and wondered how the hell I knew that when I hate football. Truth be told, I was forced to watch football every Sunday when I was married to my first husband. I've done a load of laundry, unpacked from the weekend, baked a loaf of bread, grocery shopped and been to the gym.  Oooh and I took the car through the car wash - it was covered in salt

I've just finished ironing a pair of trousers.  When I log off I've got to fetch the kids from school to go to their music lessons, come home and cook dinner and then write help the kids to write their Science Fair posters which have to be finished by tomorrow!

I think I do feel better after finding some news and reading it.  This could be a good scare to get me to look at what's going on around me more then I have in the past.  I'll just stay tuned and keep watch in case something does happen and I need to take action, but I think it's more of a little motivation push.

I guess that sounds good,now that I'm out of state programs altogether,I can basically volunteer whenever cause when I was in a state program they wanted you to volunteer at least 2 times a week which for me was Thursday and Friday but now that I no longer attend state programs I can create my own schedule.

Yeah we had about that here in Oxford. Unfortunatly it was over a foot of snow in London which has caused all the problems with the trains. In the south of England they just aren't equipt for snow if it's deeper than a few inches.

And now.... we were supposed to go to a wedding on the 14th.  This guy we know, getting married after dating the same woman for 26 years.  Here we are, two weeks before the wedding, and she hands him a pre-nup.  Now we know the couple, he has never fooled around, worked his butt off, never really wanted to marry, but finally said yes.  Then her parents die within a couple of months of each other and leave her a chunk of change, so she wants a pre-nup.    Weddings off.  He figures if she was able to trust him for the past 26 without a problem then there isn't any reason why she shouldn't trust him for the next.  Glad I didn't pick up the gift.

I was talking to a friend this morning.  Her husband left on Saturday to fly to Singapore, via Heathrow.  He spent most of Sunday/Monday at the airport including five hours sat on the plane before being told to get off because they had no flight crew.  ::)

I do not believe so, I usually hear if they get up and move around.  I have not seen any crumbs, or evidence.  Cousins were sick with flu, but this is a little unusual.  :P
