Subject: 2009 New Year's Resolutions
Written By: CatwomanofV on 12/31/08 at 2:25 pm
Yes folks, it is that time again when we try to improve ourselves. I think mine are pretty much the same as last year.
-Lost weight. I have gained so much in the last year. :-[
-Continue to get the house de-cluttered. I did get the bathroom redone and it looks great. The kitchen is also almost done. Still have many more rooms to go-both with de-cluttering and repainting.
-Not to drink so much caffeine that I have trouble sleeping.
I'm sure there will be more but that is it for now.
Who's next?

-Continue to lose weight (21 lbs and counting)
I've already changed my eating habits now I just need to exercising more.
-Be better financially.
I owe 7,500 immediately. I don't have it but I'm gonna work on getting it paid off... (I have an additional 50K in debt... but I'll work on that iin 2010 ;) )
Complain less... I guess I have a tendency to be a tad bit negative
Hopefully get in a place where I can get a new car... I know that doesn't go with the financial very well but my car is on its last legs and I don't want to be stranded without one

I would like to:
Get into better shape. If I lose weight in the process all the better. Now that I am in my 40's I feel I need to be in shape for my health more than anything else. I am afraid of developing osteoporosis in the future.
I would like to be more positive. I tend to complain more than I should.
I would like to have more patience with my daughter this year. Stop expecting so much from her.

I join the lose weight brigade, as you know I have a bridesmaids outfit with my name on it and I would like it to actually do up. Though a friend of mine from work was weeping with laughter at the thought of me going down the aisle with the zip burst open at the back and my knickers on show. ::)
The finances I got on track last year, well pretty much I would like some more money from somewhere but wouldn't we all.So I'd like to keep those achievments on track.
Stay positive, it's going to be a tough year I know and I'm determined not to give in to my black dog at any time!

To be nice to people and more patient with idiots when I am out shopping and stuff. ( you know the ones that stop to chat in the middle of the crowded isle or leaves their buggy there while the browse. Then the ones that cut you off when you are walking like you are not 6'4" and 245 pounds...like you are invisible.)

One thing I've learned from all these weight loss programs every semester, be specific. So this is me being specific.
Lose 10 pounds in the next 16 weeks (easier said that done)
To go along with that: run 3 mornings a week but not 2 in a row (my foot is feeling better, let's keep it that way and build up to more days), use my voucher for 30 days at Curves (I promise to start as soon as I feel better, still down with congestion, etc. so I should be good by next week), get a Pilates DVD and find a fun dance one for working out at home. If our program this semester includes any kind of machine time, I will take advantage of it.
Increase my water intake to 48 ounces (I know not as much as required, working my way up) and decrease my cola intake working down to 0 a day (I've done it before).
Walk 10,000 steps every day.
Re-organize my apartment, one room at a time, starting w/ my kitchen (which is where I left off when Micah moved out). Will also re-do closets to make room for stuff in storage unit (and throw out what don't need) so I can get rid of storage unit (started last month, need to get back on track).
May think of more later. :)

Good luck with that. I, too wrote a book but never got as far as sending out a manuscript. My sister, on the other hand is a published author and she says that it is really hard to find someone who is willing to give your manuscript the time because they get so many. I do not mean to rain on your parade or anything but just pointing out the realities. Just remember that J.K. Rowling was turned down when she first submitted Harry Potter. I think your best bet would be to find an agent. I am curious to know how it goes so please keep me informed.

Yeah I was toying with the agent idea for a while and have a bunch of agency websites in my favorties so that when the time comes i am prepared. I have looked up how to submit them to both agencies and publing companies but i cant completely rely on anything becase some people want some things that others dont so i just have to watch out for preferences.

Oh, one more thing: when you finished (or think you are finished because a writer is NEVER really finished ;) ) either print it out or put it on a disk and mail it to yourself. When you get the package in the mail, don't open it but put it in a very safe place. That is so if someone DOES try to steal your idea-you will have the date (postage mark). Just a little CYA for ya.

I don't purposely male him feel self conscious, I just kind of point out things to him.
It has actually upset me a little bit that he quit working on one - I had gotten into it and I thought it was a book I had on my shelf. I went looking and looking for it, but couldn't find it. Then one day I said to him that I was looking for said book, explained the scenario of it to him, and he said something like "Tam, that is the book that I am writing." ;D He started working on it again, and let me read it. It is really good, but I pointed out that it was similar to a book that was already written, that they are currently making into a film, only the plot line was a little reversed, and now he has quit working on it. :(
I have wrote one short story, and am now currently working on another one, although I don't know if it is actually going to be a short story or if it will be a book. The Son read my first short story (and so did someone else) and I guess he thought it was pretty good. :-\\
I have to look into getting The Son Adobe Acrobat - the full version, for his writing, but that thing is so dang expensive! He mentioned another program as well, but it doesn't appear to be as compatible as acrobat.
He needs to write! He is awesome at it and will make me himself a lot of money!!!

When I was in my "writing mode" many, many, many moons ago, I would come up with an idea for a story. I told my significant other at the time (this B.C.-Before Carlos :D ). He looked at me and said, "It's been done before." That let the wind out of my sails. Then I would come up with another idea, I told him and he said, "It's been done before." Needless to say, my Muse became wounded and didn't want to emerge.
Please, don't discourage him.
but tam... there are a lot of stories that resemble other things already out... if its well written he should keep working on it because when I hit the lotto and start my production company I can buy his story and make it a movie.
;)
Yeah, what she said. In fact, many "famous" stories are based on other famous stories. For instance, West Side Story is based on Romeo & Juliet. Rent is based on La Boheme.

I have to be clear... I didn't and have never discouraged him.
I want him to finish the book - but he says he has writer's block because I opened my big mouth after reading what he had completed.
I'll not open my mouth again!

tell him it could be worse... I sent my mother my first script and she said she couldn't read it because she didn't get it.
I was so hurt I put it away. I year later I dug it out and read it and thought maybe someone can tell me what's wrong with it...turns out it was good my mom just didn't understand the script format. I ended up winning a contest with that script. 8)
oh and it had totally been done before... I just gave it a bit of a twist. ;)
