We seem to have someone come on and totally go "postal" I would say about once every year or so. We hadn't had one in a while so we were due. So things will remain calm until the next one shows up-and it WILL happen. The question is, WHEN?

i gotta be honest, and i assume i'll catch flak for this, but the reaction of a lot of people here to her was pretty shameful, in my opinion. i understand she was an odd bird but the ganging up on her and the insults was like watching something out of "lord of the flies." it was embarrassing to watch. i'd say she's not the only one around here due for a personal inventory.

I disagree.  She comes on here, gets pissed because ONE person complimented her on her photograph (you don't want people to comment on your photo, don't use it as your avatar), threatens to leave once, doesn't follow through, makes up spectacular stories of drinking, reptiles, drug cartels, and whatever else crosses her mind.  Then she gets mad when we call her on inconsistencies in her stories and then wishes ill on a member.  The last story about the boy who called her a liar in high school and died of a heroin overdose and her feelings of gladness over it really took the cake and pissed me off.  Regardless of what someone said to you ten years ago (and if people were calling her a liar back then....), you don't say you hope they're burning in hell and express joy over their death.  Before that, her stories were more of an amusement than anything, and I rather enjoyed being snarky with her.

I say she got what she deserved.  If she had taken your advice and toned down her abrasive attitude the first time she threatened to leave, this wouldn't have happened.  We have had several new members join up over the past couple of months that have fit in nicely here, without resorting to outlandish stories to try and wow us all.  I'm not saying she had to get rid of all of her attitude (we all have on one here ;)), but she rubbed a lot of people on here the wrong way, as evident from the many negative responses and sarcasm tossed her way.

I say if she tries to come back, just outright ban her before she has a chance to get in again.  Hell, if you want amusement, I'll step up my medication and keep you all in stitches. ;D

basically what i saw was, she came on, started telling tall tales, said that odd thing about how she wouldn't answer questions about sexual stuff, she kinda annoyed me at that point too. but she seemed basically harmless and as for the lying thing, does anybody think she was telling the truth? she didn't even seem to be trying to make it believable, so actually calling her a liar in a belligerent way struck me as a waste of breath. i'm not sure what that gig was about on her part but like i say, to my mind it was harmless and actually sorta funny and i don't know that it rates getting called a "liar" to one's face. she also seemed pretty egotistical, yes, but unless i missed something i didn't notice that she was calling anyone out or insulting anyone. she seemed basically friendly and wanted to chat -- okay, mostly about herself, yes, but whatever. i was vain at a period in my life too.

anyway, by the end a lot of people on the board had started howling like cannibals and feeding on her, it was pretty sad to watch. i mean if everyone is proud of how they acted, whatever, but if it had happened at an actual physical party i never would go back to the house where it was thrown again. it reminded me of the "gang mentality" thing that's been mentioned around here before, but last night it seemed  like it was the whole board acting that way. ultimately it's less about andria even and more about what kind of environment we want to establish on this board, do we want to overlook when newbs have the occasional foible and be laid back and take a water-off-a-ducks-back attitude so long as new people don't get too personally insulting, or do we want to vote everyone off the island who we deem as not being as cool as us?

I agree with what Jess said above about the use of the avatar / sexy pose (at that)  ... and then like ... YOU (guys ... as in MEN) ..... can't have me .....definitely a bit vain ... although that's hardly a crime. I'll confess ... I think I was a bit harsh /overreacted in MY initial post /assessment .... about her ... and that I'd have nothing to do with her. I think it was a matter of time ... I guess I was almost hoping she might woo me in some manner .... that I was gonna play hard to get with her (like ... anyway, i appreciate your second paragraph, mr. sir. that's basically how i felt about it, i found her a tad obnoxious but for a while it was like, every time i got on there was some other post responding to her from somebody where i'd think, 'well, i'm not sure i'd go that far..." and i did get the sense that there was a basic insecurity getting masked with her, as i do with all compulsive liars. that's what the syndrome of compulsive lying is all about.

Tia...I totally agree with you on this one. I, myself played along at times in this latest issue as ...let's face it...andria WAS annoying. We all had the option to ignor her posts but chose to 'bully' her instead (the sharks were certainly circling in the water last night). I also don't blame people for stating their view and taking her on.  I just felt uncomfortable with the level of animosity in some of the posts...whether or not she deserved them.

Tia, you can probably get away with speaking out as you are a long term member. I suspect (but hope I'm wrong) won't be afforded the same leniency.  At the end of the day, andria really spiced up the place but then it all turned ugly. We can't all be clones of each other and even annoying people should be able to post here without being beaten up ........too much.

I have to say the posts that were posted around her are some of the more entertaining posts I've ever read here.... we have many talented fiction writers on this board and I loved reading the stories others would come up with.  Sure it was mocking but it was fun....sue me.


as for attacking her personally- yeah I played the game but you know what- she started it I tried to ignore her and if she would have posted around me the way I posted around her she never would have felt my wrath. I have nothing to apologize for I stand by my posts- those still existing and those Tam may have wiped out.

well, you have to see how this inthe00s lot looked last night. it was pretty sad. vis-a-vis the heroin comment, don't forget the bit where ladybug called her a liar and added, "i don't like her personally." so the heroin thing didn't come out of the blue, and it was somewhat provoked. bizarre thing to say on andria's part, yes, but when i saw ladybug's post i winced at that, also, so to hang it all on andria is just not accurate to the record.

basically what i saw was, she came on, started telling tall tales, said that odd thing about how she wouldn't answer questions about sexual stuff, she kinda annoyed me at that point too. but she seemed basically harmless and as for the lying thing, does anybody think she was telling the truth? she didn't even seem to be trying to make it believable, so actually calling her a liar in a belligerent way struck me as a waste of breath. i'm not sure what that gig was about on her part but like i say, to my mind it was harmless and actually sorta funny and i don't know that it rates getting called a "liar" to one's face. she also seemed pretty egotistical, yes, but unless i missed something i didn't notice that she was calling anyone out or insulting anyone. she seemed basically friendly and wanted to chat -- okay, mostly about herself, yes, but whatever. i was vain at a period in my life too.

anyway, by the end a lot of people on the board had started howling like cannibals and feeding on her, it was pretty sad to watch. i mean if everyone is proud of how they acted, whatever, but if it had happened at an actual physical party i never would go back to the house where it was thrown again. it reminded me of the "gang mentality" thing that's been mentioned around here before, but last night it seemed  like it was the whole board acting that way. ultimately it's less about andria even and more about what kind of environment we want to establish on this board, do we want to overlook when newbs have the occasional foible and be laid back and take a water-off-a-ducks-back attitude so long as new people don't get too personally insulting, or do we want to vote everyone off the island who we deem as not being as cool as us?

i'm sorry, to me that sheesh last night was just embarrassing. people should be wondering whether they conducted themselves in a manner beneath themselves. that's just my opinion. it seems like this happens a lot and this board's gonna end up with a reputation of, oh, don't go there, they hate new people. and it's just gonna get more and more boring.

She set the tone and started things off on the wrong foot not just with newbie foibles, as you say, or the vanity you dismiss as a phase.  Just because someone hands you a bag of sheesh doesn't mean you have to take it.  I can see that she added spice to the place with the stories; fine, but she was never here to just hang out, discuss and make friends.  This girl did exactly what she came here to do, and I took the bait, I admit it, but I'm never sorry for calling a liar a liar!  That's how the real world works.  You are accountable for your actions, and while I am only responsible for myself, others obviously felt that way too.  I didn't accuse her of things that didn't happen, or things that were up to interpretation.  I listed the reasons I was "feeding on her like a cannibal" and told her to her (proverbial) face via smite club (which she agreed to participate in).  You winced when I called her a liar (and think it's a waste of breath) yet downplay that whole heroin bit as "bizarre but provoked"?  That's bizarre to me.

Why defend myself???  I know I am fairly a "newbie" but I do not feel that I did anything wrong.  I only commented to her on the things she brought up, if she did not want them commented on - do not bring them up on a public forum!!!!  I only have issue when someone does not know what they are talking about, tries to get others to go along with their insane antics, are self destructive, or threaten others!  In this case, she brought up all the subjects, we commented on them (if they could/ should not be commented on, they should not be told in the first place) I did not bring up anything that was not said first.  That's it and that's all, if I post something, I should realize it is going to possibly be read and responded to by everyone - and everyone here and any guests all have "specialties" and opinions, they are not going to agree.  If it seems in a posting that people are only giving 1 word/ 1 sentence answers/statements, I do not feel that I should go into a descriptive paragraph on my past, present and future; that is opening way too much information and will lead to comments anywhere in the general public!

just to piggy back a bit on ladybug and 2kidsiam... in a way it was important to call her out and not condone the line of BS she was feeding the boards. As was said before (for other reasons) we are not the only ones on these boards. Everyone knows there are a few underage people here and if we all act like her stories, fact or fiction, are no big deal then were sort of condoning the actions.  I think as responsible adults we need to say hey - what ever you choose to do is your prerogative but dpn't discuss it in a public forum.

I'd like to apologize....I just squashed a few ladybug's over in the arcade... ;)

i gotta be honest, and i assume i'll catch flak for this, but the reaction of a lot of people here to her was pretty shameful, in my opinion. i understand she was an odd bird but the ganging up on her and the insults was like watching something out of "lord of the flies." it was embarrassing to watch. i'd say she's not the only one around here due for a personal inventory.



I disagree.  She comes on here, gets pissed because ONE person complimented her on her photograph (you don't want people to comment on your photo, don't use it as your avatar), threatens to leave once, doesn't follow through, makes up spectacular stories of drinking, reptiles, drug cartels, and whatever else crosses her mind.  Then she gets mad when we call her on inconsistencies in her stories and then wishes ill on a member.  The last story about the boy who called her a liar in high school and died of a heroin overdose and her feelings of gladness over it really took the cake and pissed me off.  Regardless of what someone said to you ten years ago (and if people were calling her a liar back then....), you don't say you hope they're burning in hell and express joy over their death.  Before that, her stories were more of an amusement than anything, and I rather enjoyed being snarky with her.

I say she got what she deserved.  If she had taken your advice and toned down her abrasive attitude the first time she threatened to leave, this wouldn't have happened.  We have had several new members join up over the past couple of months that have fit in nicely here, without resorting to outlandish stories to try and wow us all.  I'm not saying she had to get rid of all of her attitude (we all have on one here ;)), but she rubbed a lot of people on here the wrong way, as evident from the many negative responses and sarcasm tossed her way.

I say if she tries to come back, just outright ban her before she has a chance to get in again.  Hell, if you want amusement, I'll step up my medication and keep you all in stitches. ;D

I agree with what Jess said above about the use of the avatar / sexy pose (at that)  ... and then like ... YOU (guys ... as in MEN) ..... can't have me .....definitely a bit vain ... although that's hardly a crime. I'll confess ... I think I was a bit harsh /overreacted in MY initial post /assessment .... about her ... and that I'd have nothing to do with her. I think it was a matter of time ... Tia...I totally agree with you on this one. I, myself played along at times in this latest issue as ...let's face it...andria WAS annoying. We all had the option to ignor her posts but chose to 'bully' her instead (the sharks were certainly circling in the water last night). I also don't blame people for stating their view and taking her on.  I just felt uncomfortable with the level of animosity in some of the posts...whether or not she deserved them.

Tia, you can probably get away with speaking out as you are a long term member. I suspect (but hope I'm wrong) won't be afforded the same leniency.  At the end of the day, andria really spiced up the place but then it all turned ugly. We can't all be clones of each other and even annoying people should be able to post here without being beaten up ........too much.

A lot of things were handled wrong, however I still stand behind my post in the smite thread, about defending our members. I say this because when someone does join, we generally give a welcome and time for someone to get to know the place. The problem here was that the approach by said new member was "Holier Than Thou" and condesendingfrom the word go, thus the uproar.

I unfortunately, wasn't around the other night at the exact time that everything went down. I showed up to find she self-deleted, and so I approved it. I read all of the posts in a particular thread, and was surprised to find that even though members were being honest, said members' arrogance and ignorance prevailed as she wished a death like situation onto someone else. This is definitely not acceptable behavior. I would expect nothing less than some to defend themselves. (That being said, if said member was truly feeling attacked in order to defend herself... why was there no report sent to admin and moderators emails, pointing us to where the attack took place so we could take care of it?)

Yes, there are 'cliques' or 'gangs' here, as you will likely find anywhere you go. It is your decision whether you want to try and get in one of them, or ignore them all together. 100% of people are not going to get along 100% of the time. It is how you as an individual chooses to interact and conduct themselves that matters the most. And if at any time you feel like you are being treated unfairly, threatened, harrassed... click the dang "Report To Moderator" link. We don't read every single post in every single thread. The only way we know what fully is going on is from YOU.

I, thankfully, do not have to justify my actions here... but I do have to live with them.

I was just about to look 'Flaming Cuyahog' up. I was suspicious with his/her The Classic American & European Car Expert,seeing as how"Andria" seemed to know alot about International Loadstars.Heck her/his real name is probably Darrell Andrew and they are probably a mechanic..Should be some interesting times ahead.

But being that Darrell is 68 years old, and he likes the "unusual story of cuyahoga river fire" he did not do his "research" on that subject.....  The cuyahoga river was on fire about a dozen times from 1868 and the last of which was 1969 (the most expansive destruction was is 1936, and the most noteable - just because it caught Times attention was 1969)....  There was no fire in the 70's.....  The river was full of oil's and discharge from the oil refineries, tire manufacturing industries, and steel mill's that made up Cleveland's industry.... 


It is funny that this is brought up as I am teaching the "Water Quality" unit in my Conservation and Natural Resources class, and I was just speaking of these events.... I lived in Cuyahoga Falls for 2 years while I worked for an environmental consulting firm in Akron....  The area was beautiful
