Subject: inthe00s Christmas Gift and Card Exchange 2008 - List now available!

It was mentioned the other day that we should get this up and going, although a little early, so that we can get ahead of schedule this year.
Jessica and Reynolds (Kathie) are going to be heading this up for us this year! Thanks Ladies!!!
We are talking about the inthe00s Christmas Gift and Card Exchange that was completely successful last year. The limit on a gift if you participate is in the $5-$10 range, and of course the cards are anything that you choose! The Gift Exchange will basically be like a Secret Santa. The Ladies will come up with a draw date so that there will be a lot of time for you to shop and get it in the post. Please post in this thread saying you are interested, and then send your address in a pm to one of the ladies. (I believe they will tell you who is taking the addresses and who is doing the drawing.)
As for Christmas cards, if you are interested, post here and then just exchange addresses with those you want to send and receive cards from. ;)

Remember that Designing women where the xmas gifts are stolen and everyone brags about what great gifts they got each other...only to have the stolen goods recovered....oops kinda exaggerated your gift ;D

I was Gis' Secret Santa last year. I was late in sending out my gift, so I priority mailed it to her - thus why it was a little more expensive. Researched it today and it appears post should be much more than $10-$12 dollars, depending on the size. But it is still up to Gis if she participates ;)

It was brought to our attention that with the economy the way it is, and more people being strapped for money this year, that perhaps we should just do the card exchange. This is a valid point, and I want to make sure that members know it is not expected of them to sign up to do both. Only you know what your funds are like now and what they may be like closer to Christmas, and we do not want you to feel like you are being forced into the Gift Exchange. We bear no judgement on what you would or would not like to do.
That being said, those who have signed up - if we don't have the turn out like last year, shall we still go ahead and get matched up as best as we can, or would you prefer to just do a card exchange instead?
Let us know, because this is about what y'all want, not what Kathie, Jess or myself want. ;)

I'm flexible. My finances are only tight because I spend money on myself (A LOT) ;D
I can afford the the gift exchange and postage to where ever but if others can't do it then I am fine with just the card exchange. Just so long as I get lots of cards!!! My mom and I are in competition and last year I lost by one card! >:(

Actually...I shamefully did do three cards for New Years (or actually a little after, as I recall) last year, although I forget who I sent them to... Nally, Jessica and... was it you who I sent the third to? I can't remember... My brain only works occasionally, and tonight isn't one of those nights unfortunately.
But on the plus side, they WERE homemade, so they were kinda more special then just signing my name on a store bought card. ;D Yeah, that was I keep telling myself anyway.

ATTENTION
For the people who ARE participating in the gift exchange (NOT the card exchange!).....we need your addresses if you did not PM them to me and Reynolds already. These are sort of conducive to you actually getting your gift. :D
So if you signed up before November 10th for the GIFT EXCHANGE, please send your address to BOTH OF US so we can coordinate this stuff and make sure we get the drawing of names right.

Oh my goodness, I did do that, I think. Although I'm still not sure if I sent Henk, my grandma's card or if some other lucky person got it or if, indeed, it did actually get in the right envelope. I'm SUCH a scatterbrain. Christmas ALWAYS does that to me.
Oddly enough, last May, one of my online friends got her Christmas card that I had actually sent out on time (and it wasn't even my fault, she had moved and the post office finally caught up to her, so there is no accounting for cards from me.)
Who knows? You may just get a card from me in August. I'm eccentric like that. :D

Oh my goodness, I did do that, I think. Although I'm still not sure if I sent Henk, my grandma's card or if some other lucky person got it or if, indeed, it did actually get in the right envelope. I'm SUCH a scatterbrain. Christmas ALWAYS does that to me.
Oddly enough, last May, one of my online friends got her Christmas card that I had actually sent out on time (and it wasn't even my fault, she had moved and the post office finally caught up to her, so there is no accounting for cards from me.)
Who knows? You may just get a card from me in August. I'm eccentric like that. :D
some of my friends got into the habit of sending "the wrong cards" like congrats on your anniversary for a birthday or sorry your auntie died for a baby shower...that sort of thing... it was a strange thing to do....yet it was strangely fun. I miss that.

If you wanted to send and receive a secret santa gift from someone here you needed to PM Reynolds1863 some time ago. She (and Jess) got together a list of names and addresses and then sent out PMs with a name and address so you could choose a gift and post it to someone.

I'm posting this from the library near my mom's hospital. I got lovely cards from Gis, Badfingerfan, and one other person (that I just now forgot who it was :\'( ) (My brain doesn't seem to be retaining much of anything useful lately. Thank you all for the holiday cheer.
I sent a bunch of cards off the other day, I'm hoping that I remembered everybody, no guarantees with as scatterbrained as I've been. I have a nagging feeling that I've left somebody off the list unintentionally :-\\ although I'm not sure who that might be.

After two weeks far from home and internet as well, I've just come back home two days ago.
The first thing I did was to take a "trip" on my old tug. 8) and the second one to take a look on my mail box.

But , Henk, the beads and things on your card were lovely and only 2 small ones fell off before I opened it.

After two weeks far from home and internet as well, I've just come back home two days ago.
The first thing I did was to take a "trip" on my old tug. 8) and the second one to take a look on my mail box.
And there they were, just a bunch of good reasons to keep on posting "inthe00s".
Adagio, what your card may lack in good hand-writing, you really make up for it in warmth and best wish, two good reasons for it to cherish.
Bookmistress4ever, thanks a lot for these Spanish words, I feel the effort of your mate in this work. And... yes, my home was filled with happiness this Christmastime, and you are a part of it.
Gibbo now you can rest although your writing it's not the best,
I understand every word you sent. I hope to be a good gift to you as well.
Henk, I've just known the village with the tallest Christmas tree in the bicycles' country, where brave men built a wall to keep home from the sea.

I got the most extraordinary mail delivery today... Some stuff that was supposed to be delivered five months ago. :o
It was accompanied by a letter from mail company (TNT Post), apologizing for the delay. Apparently one of their mailmen had been slacking... I have an inkling he's out of a job as we speak.
So... I'd like to thank Tammy and Patty for their lovely Christmas cards, wonderful wishes and kind words. You really made my day! :)

It was accompanied by a letter from mail company (TNT Post), apologizing for the delay. Apparently one of their mailmen had been slacking... I have an inkling he's out of a job as we speak.

hmmm...well um, Merry Christmas Henk. Maybe I should send out this year's now, so it will get there on time.
I've had that happen twice now. The year before last year I sent a card to Colorado (which is, oh I dunno, not all that far from me (1,234 miles / 1,986 km) and it didn't get there until May of the next year. I guess I have that magic touch with Christmas. ;D

No one's ever heard of Christmas in July? For me, Christmas doesn't really ever end. The other night, I watched 'Christmas Vacation' on Blu-Ray Disc and I was totally in the holiday spirit. Then I looked out the window and saw sunshine and was sad LOL
