Yay October! This year really has gone by so fast!

It's still pretty warm out here right now.....the weather will hopefully be more Fall-like by the end of the week.

It has been four years since my best friend passed away- also on October 1st. Funny- after she was gone I sat down to watch Willy Wonka and the Choc. Fac. but had to turn it off because I'd forgotten that the date for the factory tour was also Oct 1st.  Now I just think hey maybe Patti is like doing the whole wonka thing now wherever she is..

It is raining here and the lightning is like a 4th of July show. The thunder sounds like friggin' naval artillery.

I'm excited (keep in mind, it doesn't take much to excite me anymore)...we got back from Wal-mart a little bit ago, and because they were finished unloading alot of their stock at night, there were TONS of empty boxes and they gave them all to us.  I think I have some weird illness that I get excited over empty boxes.  But since I'm moving soon  :o I'm just glad I don't have to pay for boxes now.  Everywhere I'd go, I'd ask if they had boxes and NOBODY had any.

October has always been my favorite month (other then July (birthday month) of course).  I love the cooler weather and the leaves that change colors.  It's not snowing (yet) and my fave holiday, Halloween.  I think I can safely change my avatar to a more fall-themed one.  I just got to find the perfect one.  ;D

I'm sorry what a sad anniversary.(((big hug)). At lrast you carry her around in your heart. I know its not the same. My Mom passed in Jan and I still pick up the phone to call her. I miss her so much. o i know how you feel, its like losing your best friend (at least in my case it was). When I feel low and depressed about this I remember all the funny thing about my Mom. No one could make me laugh harder or make me feel 12 yrs old in a split second.
I still cry over her, and laugh about her antics. So I indeed am with you today. I know its going to be hard, but celebrate her life, have a cake, call relatives and exchange funny warm memories about her. Or sit and cry whichever feels better for you.

October is my fav month the colors,,cooler weather, nice cozy fire time. At least here in Fla we can have them outside in firepits, without being devoured by mosquitoes. The best month for camping up North besides April. My fav holiday Halloween I've. already decorated  a little.
Oh yeah last but not least my birthday!!!!! Although they are getting scary cause I'm gonna be 53 this year. But WTF I still feel 18 inside.

Much better then yesterdays head ache ache ache.  I was going to submit a parody last night, but then noticed that there was still about a minute left in the song.  I got some more complete lyrics and hope I could get them in for tomorrow. 

A new month sees my knee slightly better, I took it for a walk this morning, not walking all the time, but I was out for under two hours, and my knee is telling me not to walk with it yet.

Well October is here. My brother is apparently starting uni today, so I hope that goes well for him. Bobomel are finally working together properly, which replaces the thing that the two of us were doing previously - and sadly, separately. Thankfully this time we both have the paperwork to back us up, which lets us work in the same place at the same time for thirteen hours a week. w00t.

What else is going on... it seems to be getting closer and closer to Christmas, I'm starting to see Christmas cards and Christmas gifts for kids everywhere, so I figure now is a good time to start thinking about Christmas. Speaking of which - while I am not up for the venture, how does re-starting the inthe00s Christmas present exchange thing sound? Anyone like that idea? Did that get any publicity over here in the end?

But I am completely loving the fall foliage. I didn't realize how much I missed the colors of Autumn. SOmehow I became accustomed to the leaves just going yellow and falling off! The reds and oranges are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

We had a 100 birthday party for my grandmother this summer-it was planned years ago and she told us to have the party if she wasn't there-of she wasn't  :\'(  I thought that I would be bawling my eyes out entire evening but it turned out good-some laughs and no tears-from anyone. I'm sure it helped that your family was there.

It takes time....

Today I hung out at Sigs waiting for the man to fix his furnace. Took all day.  There I was in the home of a luddite(no computer, no t.v).  It is a nice place in the country, but it rained all day, until 15 minutes before it was time to leave  ???  Read a book.

It's my Father's 67th birthday tomorrow,still the doo-wop king and still as cranky/grumpy as ever. ;D

I was very happy to start the month of October with water!  Somebody turned our water off (next door, too) unbeknownst to us or the landlord.  That was my motivation for getting up at 5:30 to go to the Rec Center and walk at 6 a.m. yesterday----showering in the Rec Center!  ;D

Monday I start my new "job" as Testing Coordinator.  We are also having some difficulty transitioning to the new testing software, so training the new part-time people will be MORE than interesting.  Since Susan is there on Friday and the new people come on Monday, I either have to go in and start moving my stuff over the weekend or it is going to be a LONG week getting everyone settled.  I also have to acquire computers and another phone.

I predict it will be a very interesting month.  :)

Sometimes .... life can be SO cruel.

The chain of events ... that led to this moment ? Required me seeing an aerial pic of my mum's place ... when I was recently in UK. Imagined it was the result of 'Google Earth'.

Went round to library ... a few days back, to get a computer mag, which had it on disc ... (save time downloading on my slow connection).  As it turned out, although I managed to locate mum's place ...... pics so low in resolution ... not as good as hers, whiich I now suspect was taken from a hot air balloon ... or helicopter ?


So .... 3 weeks to return mag.

In the past week, the guy next door to me has moved out. So ... having taken a quick look today ... and seeing it was generally much better (door on his bedroom, and larger .... ) ... decided to go around to local office to see if I could get upgraded. No luck .... told it doesn't work that way where I live ....

Well, I'd taken mag along ... to continue on to local library ...... could NOT believe who I saw across the road. The WITCH / BITCH .... who I dated for a year ... who broke up violently with me ... back in  early 2002 ! She was 100 yards ahead of me, walking along carrying the birdcage, draped with a purple cover. I knew it HAD to be her, even though my long range vision aint' that good, cos remembered that purples her fave color. She had her back to me .. but her distinctive long hair, with red scrunchy in back ... I was virtually postive ...

The bird ... a budgie  .. was one I talked her into getting ... when she was 'suicidal'  ... (don't know how many times she's pulled THAT stunt).
She loves that bird to bits ..  more than anything. I'm positive she's had a whole string of guys since me ... and although she speaks ill of me .... believe deep down inside, she knows I was the best ....... by a LONG way !

Anyhow, so .. I'm just about  heading across road to my local  library .... at that very moment she turns, also intending to cross road ... spots me ... and immediately turns head to carry on in same direction (away from me).  I think to myself ... I bet in her crazy mind, she thinks I'm stalking her ... following her.  Fact of the matter is .... I have EVERY right to walk in this area ... which is several miles from where SHE lives. I've never seen her around here ... in the past year or so !

So, I go into library, spend maybe 5 mins there, to give her a chance to clear out of area ... then carry on the direction I was next heading for .. to pick up milk (recall, an earlier post today .. I had black coffee cos no milk). Well .. would you believe, she's waiting at a bus stop, to head back to her place, I suspect ... and we see each other again ! I carry on across road, other side, pretending not to have seen her (well ... the quickest of glances tells me she's seen me). I head into a shop, to get milk ... come out ...  and she's almost in front of me, starts walking past ... 

I retreat back into shop next door, which is the one that DOES have milk, then decide to head just around corner, since it appears she's given up THAT bus stop  ... and just as I turn .... she's RIGHT THERE (obviously, retraced her steps, whilst my back was turned ! )  ... we're only 20 feet from each other ?  I gave her the quickest glance of anger, than immediately turned, and took a different route home !

What I did spot in that quick glance ... she looked in pain / tearful ......... and probably was thinking HIM !!! What have I done to deserve THIS ? 'The world's against me' !


Because of her ......... I've been depressed for many years, and even still .... think about her more than I'd like. Even remembered it was her birthday on September 18. I was obsessed with being her knight in shining armor ... and did just about everything in my power, to please her over that year .... but did not realise I was dealing with a 'man eater' / borderline personality disorder (restraining order issued by me, nearly getting thrown out of my place cos of her violent outbursts / cops called, etc ... was her reward to me !

Given that I pretty much hide away from the world / stay in my four walls 80 % of the time, or more ....... this was an uncanny 'meeting' (the ingredients)  .......... of somebody I haven't spoken to at all, in maybe 5 years ?


Almost like 'fate' ........... 'cept I don't believe in that !

This is a traumatic experience ... when I seek to erase her from my mind, on a daily basis !    >:(

Tomorrow we are off to Margate for the weekend. On saturday I'm going to Canterbury for the day with my sister which should be fun. I love Canterbury.

It is weird how life does thing like that to you. I hope you aren't still feeling unsettled Alan, is it the first time you have seen her since?


Since we broke up ... and I was stupid enough to want to talk to her, even as late as 2003 ... but she made it plain she wanted nothing to do with me ......  well, I've not said a word to her since. Have had the odd fluke sighting of each other ... sometimes on a bus (she loved rubbing it in with this guy she was going back to her apartment with .... he later had an apprehended order taken out against HIM .... although, I suspect any violence came only after the most severe provacation / self-defense ... (she kicked me a number of times ... I NEVER hit her first .... ) ....

I  think the last time I saw her at all, was when I was on a passing bus, maybe 18 months back (?) waiting at a bus stop ?

Another time, was on a train station, where she bluffed her way (I could work it out ) with some ticket inspectors ...... I know she's the type who would NOT have the right ticket / use her mother's pension card ... to get a free ride. Not enough, that rich mummy ... bought her her own apartment. 



I've just recently resumed taking anti-depressants ... not  sure if that's a good move, since they tend to leave me even sleepier / less motivated, than I normally am. However, over the last few months, I was starting to cut down on the flashbacks / insults ... that still flood my head, from her vicious tounge.  I hope I can soon put today behind me ... it will probably be years (if ever) that I see her again. In spite of my justified anger towards her ...... part of me even today ..... wanted to talk to her  .... even hug (?) ......... but, I now know ... she's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE ... for any mere mortal man on THIS earth ! (Well, she did confide years ago to me .... 'ALL men are bastards' . My BIG mistake was to futilely try to prove otherwise.

I'm okay today just thinking as usual.  My mind went back to magic last night and I started to think about somrone that left the magic forum.  I don't know why this person left, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm wasteing time in the wrong way.  I ought to fool around here, finish that parody, and do my own magic impacting.




Mom Just handed me a letter about my recovery time being the firet of next month.  I'll be looking into job, volunteer, start my own business, one or two of those options.  I don't know.  I'll have to be carefull about loosing my SSI and I got Striker in my head right now You'll have to decide You'll have to decide You'll have to decide.   

I've just recently resumed taking anti-depressants ... not  sure if that's a good move, since they tend to leave me even sleepier / less motivated, than I normally am. However, over the last few months, I was starting to cut down on the flashbacks / insults ... that still flood my head, from her vicious tounge.  I hope I can soon put today behind me ... it will probably be years (if ever) that I see her again. In spite of my justified anger towards her ...... part of me even today ..... wanted to talk to her 8).... even hug (?) ......... but, I now know ... she's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE ... for any mere mortal man on THIS earth ! (Well, she did confide years ago to me .... 'ALL men are bastards' . My BIG mistake was to futilely try to prove otherwise.

I'm okay today just thinking as usual.  My mind went back to magic last night and I started to think about somrone that left the magic forum.  I don't know why this person left, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm wasteing time in the wrong way.  I ought to fool around here, finish that parody, and do my own magic impacting.




Mom Just handed me a letter about my recovery time being the firet of next month.  I'll be looking into job, volunteer, start my own business, one or two of those options.  I don't know.  I'll have to be carefull about loosing my SSI and I got Striker in my head right now You'll have to decide You'll have to decide You'll have to decide.   8)

You are just not used to it yet-but you will. Just remember, when the temperature drops, you can always put on another sweater or another blanket but when the temperature rises, you can only take off so much. You will especially love it come summer when it is 110 degrees in the shade in Texas and in NY, it will be something like 75.

Definitely! I bought a bunch of thermals last week, and my sister found me some turtlenecks. I am also waiting on the wool socks I ordered to come in. Not to mention that I doubt my winter coat is going to make the cut this year!  ;D

I use to bowl around teenangers that would really get annoyed.  I also went into a lot of depression.  I find that a lot of people at the mall or whereever I go have no problem walking right up and talking right in to my ear when I tell them I have trouble.  It still makes me wonder how much loss is in the ear vs the brain.  Could be in between too and just damaged nerve cells.

No this time I just got a replacement for the broken bone.  It's titainium and the doctor took this big picture of it in my ear.  It's real close to the nerve.  I only got some volume maybe. 

Well thinking about The Magic Castle will give me something to think forward too.  Who knows maybe I'll become a magician and get a hearing device or something.

Why are you complaining - it's an excuse to buy more clothes!

To be honest I worried about the winter here (We saw more snow last winter than Elizabeth has seen in her whole life!) but most of the time you are either in the house, in the car or in the shops.  You just need to be able to survive the few minutes in between.  Our down jackets we bought for ski-ing are often too warm!

Sometimes .... life can be SO cruel.

The chain of events ... that led to this moment ? Required me seeing an aerial pic of my mum's place ... when I was recently in UK. Imagined it was the result of 'Google Earth'.

Went round to library ... a few days back, to get a computer mag, which had it on disc ... (save time downloading on my slow connection).  As it turned out, although I managed to locate mum's place ...... pics so low in resolution ... not as good as hers, whiich I now suspect was taken from a hot air balloon ... or helicopter ?


So .... 3 weeks to return mag.

In the past week, the guy next door to me has moved out. So ... having taken a quick look today ... and seeing it was generally much better (door on his bedroom, and larger .... ) ... decided to go around to local office to see if I could get upgraded. No luck .... told it doesn't work that way where I live ....

Well, I'd taken mag along ... to continue on to local library ...... could NOT believe who I saw across the road. The WITCH / BITCH .... who I dated for a year ... who broke up violently with me ... back in  early 2002 ! She was 100 yards ahead of me, walking along carrying the birdcage, draped with a purple cover. I knew it HAD to be her, even though my long range vision aint' that good, cos remembered that purples her fave color. She had her back to me .. but her distinctive long hair, with red scrunchy in back ... I was virtually postive ...

The bird ... a budgie  .. was one I talked her into getting ... when she was 'suicidal'  ... (don't know how many times she's pulled THAT stunt).
She loves that bird to bits ..  more than anything. I'm positive she's had a whole string of guys since me ... and although she speaks ill of me .... believe deep down inside, she knows I was the best ....... by a LONG way !

Anyhow, so .. I'm just about  heading across road to my local  library .... at that very moment she turns, also intending to cross road ... spots me ... and immediately turns head to carry on in same direction (away from me).  I think to myself ... I bet in her crazy mind, she thinks I'm stalking her ... following her.  Fact of the matter is .... I have EVERY right to walk in this area ... which is several miles from where SHE lives. I've never seen her around here ... in the past year or so !

So, I go into library, spend maybe 5 mins there, to give her a chance to clear out of area ... then carry on the direction I was next heading for .. to pick up milk (recall, an earlier post today .. I had black coffee cos no milk). Well .. would you believe, she's waiting at a bus stop, to head back to her place, I suspect ... and we see each other again ! I carry on across road, other side, pretending not to have seen her (well ... the quickest of glances tells me she's seen me). I head into a shop, to get milk ... come out ...  and she's almost in front of me, starts walking past ... 

I retreat back into shop next door, which is the one that DOES have milk, then decide to head just around corner, since it appears she's given up THAT bus stop  ... and just as I turn .... she's RIGHT THERE (obviously, retraced her steps, whilst my back was turned ! )  ... we're only 20 feet from each other ?  I gave her the quickest glance of anger, than immediately turned, and took a different route home !

What I did spot in that quick glance ... she looked in pain / tearful ......... and probably was thinking HIM !!! What have I done to deserve THIS ? 'The world's against me' !


Because of her ......... I've been depressed for many years, and even still .... think about her more than I'd like. Even remembered it was her birthday on September 18. I was obsessed with being her knight in shining armor ... and did just about everything in my power, to please her over that year .... but did not realise I was dealing with a 'man eater' / borderline personality disorder (restraining order issued by me, nearly getting thrown out of my place cos of her violent outbursts / cops called, etc ... was her reward to me !

Given that I pretty much hide away from the world / stay in my four walls 80 % of the time, or more ....... this was an uncanny 'meeting' (the ingredients)  .......... of somebody I haven't spoken to at all, in maybe 5 years ?


Almost like 'fate' ........... 'cept I don't believe in that !

This is a traumatic experience ... when I seek to erase her from my mind, on a daily basis !    >:(

Well, unless she starts lurking in this area ... 3 miles or so from her place ... it's unlikely. However .. it IS on her bus route This bus I sometimes catch ... goes right past her apartment ! I have yet to see her on it since moving a year back ... but I'd be lying if I didn't say it would be TOTALLY unexpected. I do make an effort to limit such bus trips.

Took 18 months for me to see her again  ... will I even still be here another year from now ? For all I know ... I am trolling the internet to find a new primary care physician.  I have had it with mine, now she won't take appointments after 12 noon, but she has turned over most of her practice to her assistant.  She also changed hospital affiliations, to one I wouldn't enter unless in a coma.  Troublesome that! Last time I saw her she was outside deadheading her pansies, probably named them after her patients.  ::)

I'm going to a baby shower tonight.  Three friends are having babies - they are all having girls.  One is due on October 27th, the other two are due on October 28th!  We are all going for a manicure and then round someone's house for pizza, salad, desserts and lots of wine!

Back to topic, I'm feeling great!  Today was a great day and since Micah's dinner plans fell through, she is spending the evening with me.  She made nachos and cheese for dinner and now we're going to watch some movies we went and rented.  Best Birthday!  ;D   (I'll worry about the weight implications of the foods consumed today later--I bought myself a pair of running shoes w/ the money my parents sent me for my birthday (yes, it's true and yes, I thought I was too old for that, too, but I am grateful b/c I couldn't have afforded that "luxury" on my own....and yes, I called them as soon as I left the store to thank them).  Will visit w/ them next weekend.

...so I got home from the hospital emergency room at about 12:45am last night.  yesterday at 530pm, Lady Di's mom fell down her stairs and broke her wrist and hit her head. she called Di who jammed over there and picked her up and took her to the hospital at about 7p, but Di couldn't stay with her since Julie has been sick, so she called me to to see if I'd stay with her mom, and me being a good son-in-law shot right over. it was a 5 hour visit and her mom was quite brave, even when they stuck that 2 inch needle (shot) in her wrist. OMG, that was heinous looking, but I had to watch  8)  Di's mom now thinks I'm an angel for staying with her in her room the whole time and caring for her and helping with the paperwork and transportation home. let me warn you all, if you're ever in Berkeley California and you have an emergency, be advised that that emergency facility is like a freak show, I mean it was like a MASH unit. I think I witnessed this old man die on the floor in the waiting room. he was sitting near and was coughing and then he vomited on himself, then he fell out of his wheelchair onto the floor. I went to look for a nurse, aide, or doctor since none seem to be around at the time. he loooked really bad. I hope when I get old I am not like that. anyways, it was an eventful night for sures and I missed my Friday night softball game  :(

thanks Patty, Julie is the one that really needs to start feeling better soon. that nausea feeling is wearing her down and has been frustrating. she's seeing and will continue to see her doctor and a specialist to try and isolate the problem. we want her to be well, healthy, and happy and well fed

Not being a skier myself, I can't really make any recommendations. If you decide on Killington or Pico, you have a place to stay. Even Okemo isn't too far from here, either. And if you do, I will kick my Hubby outside with his pipe.  ;) :D ;D ;D

Yesterday was an extremely wet day in my region. We got 78 to 90 mm of rain in some 18 hours. Several houses in the nearby villages of Hippolytushoef and Anna Paulowna got flooded, and a main road had to be closed because of that too. These are quite rare conditons for this region.

But it has stopped raining some time ago, and I bet you won't even notice it was there today.

I was on my way to the Post Ofiics when some cyclist came steaming up the pavement very nearly hit me (and reaggravating my bad back) and forcing me to head back home to rest.

I'm not normally a violent person ... but if I had a machine gun, for every one of those jerks who's scared/ shocked  the crap out of me ... I'd be out of ammo. It's a FOOT path ... not an extension of the road (where you jerks belong !   >:(  ) .

It depends where in Sydney you are. I'm going on mostly about the CBD (central business district) ... and around 'Taylor Square' ... which tend to be the worst. Still, you have to keep your wits about you, WHENEVER you're aware of one of these menaces on two wheels.

That is true.  We live in a University neighborhood, and they are more prevalent here than anywhere else.

Found a note in my mailbox today, claiming I'd called the housing association to report a leakage in the basement. Apparently they'd been at my door but I wasn't home.
So I was like "Leakage? :-\\...What leakage?", and decided to have a look (I don't go in the basement unless I really have to).
Well, lo an behold...There was a pool of water in the corridor. :o I could see the water had also run under the door of my section of the basement. Fearing the worst, I opened the door...but it was alright. The water had been running towards my basement, not from it, and had not caused any real damage. (Not that there's much to damage there, mind you ;))
As far as I can tell, the water had been running from the adjacent basement (which belongs to my upstairs neighbors, who I think moved out just yesterday...Coincidence?)

Well, I'll give the housing association a call anyway.

Over the counter stuff makes me feel worse.  I just tried Claritin and it made my eyes bloodshot, my body bloated, and exhausted.  The non-drowsy formula has a backlash if you miss a pill.  It was awful.  I am going to call my doctor and see if i can get flonase or one of those prescription ones, they work much better.

Shin splints can be worse if you are running on paved surfaces.  The jarring gets too much for them.  Try to find a grassy area to run on if possible.

Thanks, everyone.  I was able to jog 2 miles and a lap in my 30 minutes of exercise this morning.  You are all correct about shin splints, at least from my personal experience.  I run on the track in the Student Rec Center.  I don't know exactly what the material is, but it gives.  Danoota, I know you are right about walking being better than running (or jogging like I do--no way could a 15 min mile be called running), but I found that I have more trouble with my shin splints when I walk than when I jog, which is why I just jogged this morning.  My 5:00 class went well, all but one showed up.

It's now official.  I am 99% moved into my new cubicle (other side of the file cabinets, which I still have to turn around) and my name is on all the testing web pages.  I also changed the times that CLEP tests will be administered.  Yesterday and today weren't too bad testing wise, so I was able to get some of my own work done (I guess I need to stop thinking of it like that, but it's hard because I have been trying to get away from testing for 6 yrs and now I'm in charge of it).  Friday won't be very productive survey wise because I have meetings in the morning and a full house at 3:00 for testing.

I have been having probs with the phone reception & some buttons stick. Verizon insisted on sending me a replacement phone b/c even tho I am due for a upgrade on 11/9 they can't honor it now. But after spending an hour trying to transfer my pics to my card or to pix place I gave up. Apparently you can only do it one pic at a time and I have about 70 pics on my current phone.

Plus I just got to some pics of Carly that were buried in the phone....so after bawling for another 20 minutes I called V and told them they could have their stupid phone back.

If I could afford it I would leave them all together and go back to AT&T but if I do that I'd want the iPhone and can't afford to buy one right now.

We always keep them open in case the cats decide to sleep in there-and they won't be traumatized when they have to go to the vet. I just saw black fur and I thought, Andy? I'm sure most of you know that we lost Andy last year.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  As I moved closer and really got a look, I notice the tiger markings telling me that it was Elvira-she was laying with her back to the opening, which is the darkest part of her fur. But that really unnerved me for a minute. I thought I was seeing a ghost.

She was the youngest of my fathers brothers and sisters(there were 11) She was a pleasant surprise born well after some the older boys.If  I remember right she was only 12-13 when my father got married,he was 25. My dad said he saw her last a week ago at the casino.(gambling was a favorite thing for her)

Yeah Sasha ... hope you get over that cut soon. I sliced a couple of my fingers pretty badly, around 18 months back ? Was pushing on a tin plate .. at the back of a computer ... which suddenly gave way .... and my fingers followed ...  were soon bleeding BIG time.  :-[  Narrowly escaped stitches ... but the pressure bandage I wore for the next week or two .... was MEGA painful. Stitches MAY have been better, pain wise ... in the long run ?       :-\\

Going to be a busy day today. Carlos is at the doc's (routine monthly appointment-so not to worry), and I have a hair appointment. Then we will be loading the car for the this weekend. Tonight, packing. Yup-we are going away for the weekend-first down to Conn. to visit with my sister. My dad will be down there, too staying with my other sister who lives in that area. On Sunday, we are all going to be heading to NY state to celebrate my niece & her significant other's Civil Union (even though the "ceremony" was a several months back which only their parents were present at-and from what I heard, it was not much of a ceremony.) We will be coming back on Monday and stopping in the Hartford area for a "mini-meet" with a fellow board member.  ;)  I'm looking forward to that.

So all of you HAD better behave yourselves or else when I come back, I will have to kick some butts.  :D ;D ;D ;D

The children have been off school today for Yom Kippur.  But nowhere else has it as a holiday so none of the activities we planned to do were open during the day.  We ended up going to Chuck E Cheese for the first time.  I thought there would be more of a play area and less of the arcade games.  :-\\

I'm going into school tomorrow to read to James's class and then I'm meeting a friend for lunch.  I'm supposed to be camping overnight with James and the Cub Scouts.  Elizabeth is going away with a friend for the weekend.

not to make light of your pain ninny but to answer Patty...food... I always judge a service based on the spread. 

I don't like funerals much...besides being very sad they are usually deeply religious. What I love though are the personal testimonials. People tell great (and usually funny stories) about their loved one. This helps you get the know the person they lost (if you didn't know them well) or remember some time you may have forgotten.

My memorial service should only have really good food and lots of people telling stories...but no churchy stuff.

It was a nice ceremony(yes it was churchy,I grew up in a big Catholic family) My aunt Sister Mary told funny stories about Aunt Katy being the baby of the family,and how she was still considered the baby up until the time my grandma died in 2005.She told how Katy was clever in getting out of her chores and homework,and how the older sisters would get in trouble everytime something happened to her.One story was how when she was younger she was riding her bike up and down the dirt driveway and fell,she ran into the house blaming it on her sister Mary.There was another story about Aunt Katy who went to bingo the day after her mother died,who said she could feel her presence there and won $21,000 dollars.Aunt Katy was the jolly one who would come up to you at funerals and weddings and reunions andtake her time to talk to everyone, She knew when every niece,nephew,great nieces,great nephews and in some cases great-great nieces and nephews were born and all their names.
The music was preformed by my aunt and other Sisters of Mercy nuns.On Eagles Wings,Celtic Song Of Farewell (In Paradisum )and How Great Thou Art
They had a small gathering at the local firehall with meat trays, fruit , chips and drinks
My sister said they did not preform an autopsy because there was no foul play.I'm still upset because they have her date of death as October 7th,when in fact they think she was dead for up to 9 days before she was discovered. What a horrible way to go, but at least she died watching movies that she liked.

I just got through finishing up an assignment for my online class that I've been working on for days!! It feels good to have something like that finally accomplished. I spent most of the morning and a good part of the afternoon on it.

Hugs to you Patty. Been there done that. Moving freaked our cats out big time. We had to move them first and shut them up in the bathroom before we moved the rest of the stuff.

If you can try and take a break and get completely away like to a movie or something. I found it helped me.



My parents have just left after I coooked roast dinner for us all. My friend who was meant to come round cried off and as I had already prepared all the food I asked my parents over instead.  :)

Hugs to you Patty. Been there done that. Moving freaked our cats out big time. We had to move them first and shut them up in the bathroom before we moved the rest of the stuff.

If you can try and take a break and get completely away like to a movie or something. I found it helped me.



My parents have just left after I coooked roast dinner for us all. My friend who was meant to come round cried off and as I had already prepared all the food I asked my parents over instead.  :)



when I moved I put Carly in the yard but kept the door open so she could see what was happening. I had a kids gate in the door to keep her out.
Once I got everything moved into our new apt I went and got Carly and let her get used to place in the mean time I started unpacking. About 9 at night I was still unpacking and I looked over & saw her staring at me. I realized I'd kinda ignored her all day (over 12 hours) and I said- I'm sorry baby come here..

I sat on the floor, she laid next to me and put her head in my lap and then bitched me out for about 10 minutes.  ;D Seriously... she was all Waa waa waa wah wah grrrr wah!  ;D

Took the boys to Salem Willows.  They had the arcade, I had the ice cream, we all had the ocean walk on a picture perfect day  :)

Feel better today.  Got sleep and cats are chillin' out and snoozin' (So is hubby!)  Still lots to pack/take to thrift store.  8-P 

We went out for breakfast this morning and then onto a Renaissance Faire.  It's been a lovely day here.

Tomorrow the school is closed for Columbus Day so I will be at home with James (Elizabeth is away with a friend).  I'm going out around lunch for a board mini-meet!  Looking forward to it.

It was definitely cool.  Like I said, it is always fun to meet people from the board.  I'm especially curious to see how they act in real life.  No doubt that some people who have met me from here and other places were shocked by how quiet I am.  Because, yanno, I'm a major pain in the ass with a smart mouth (errr....fingers?) on this board.

Who are you meeting?  I was in Connecticut Saturday at the Native American Museum at Foxwoods, it was better than I thought.  I hope the expand on it to include more history of other New England tribes.

Going to be a busy day today. Carlos is at the doc's (routine monthly appointment-so not to worry), and I have a hair appointment. Then we will be loading the car for the this weekend. Tonight, packing. Yup-we are going away for the weekend-first down to Conn. to visit with my sister. My dad will be down there, too staying with my other sister who lives in that area. On Sunday, we are all going to be heading to NY state to celebrate my niece & her significant other's Civil Union (even though the "ceremony" was a several months back which only their parents were present at-and from what I heard, it was not much of a ceremony.) We will be coming back on Monday and stopping in the Hartford area for a "mini-meet" with a fellow board member.  ;)  I'm looking forward to that.

So all of you HAD better behave yourselves or else when I come back, I will have to kick some butts.  :D ;D ;D ;D

Yep.  Dai rang in a panic when I was at lunch - he was trying to mail off our tax forms.  His work use DHL which won't deliver to a PO box number.  Dai was on his way to the airport when he called in to post the forms.  Luckily the place he stopped at was open if you wanted to use their automatic machine so he used that.
