It won't be on here for another 12 hours. I am recording it, taking the short one to a concert tonight.

I saw it. Pretty spectacular. Much better than Bjork and that whole Greek whatever that was. I like to see how the athletes are dressed for the grand procession. I am constantly dismayed at the attire of the U.S.A, and once again that is the case. Ralph Lauren designed them all to look like Thurston Howell III.

Thurstson Howell... ;D
The USA sartorial blunder aside, I thought the opening ceremony was beyond spectacular! Some unforgettable images. I was in awe during the whole procession!!! :)

Hey Kid. Your flag's upside down. You know, as in, flying your own flag upside down as an internationally-recognized sign of distress. Just because the commentators don't want to mention it, and just because everyone else in the Chinese team was too scared to fix it (after all, maybe it was supposed to be upside-down, the kid did just survive a massive earthquake), doesn't mean the entire world didn't see it and wonder who the heck signed off on that... or simply shrug their shoulders at what passes for quality control in China.

oh, ooops. Missed the opening ceremony to appease the small one in my house. However, I am watching gymnastics whenever I can catch it on...after biking, swimming, boxing, badminton, oh the list goes on.

A pretty girl who won national fame after singing at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was only miming.
I had a strong feeling of miming going on at the Olympic Ceremony. For the pianist Lang Lang had a young child at the piano with him and the child's playing on the keys were not noticeable on the sound. And the grand piano was shaking on the stage as if it was empty of the inner frame and strings.

I watched about the first 40 minutes or so of the opening ceremony....I thought they did an amazing job. I wished I could've watched more but I still wasn't feeling good at the time and headed right back to bed.

What age is underage?
For Team GB had a diver at 14 years old (still a schoolboy) and he finished last.

That is curious. Even on the official Olympics website, he is listed as 14. I wonder why nobody is having a cow about him?

Oh! I guess it is because they knew he wasn't even in the run (or diving as it were) for any medals whatsoever, and this is more-or-less practice/life experience. http://en.beijing2008.cn/news/sports/headlines/diving/n214432826.shtml

Speaking of diving/swimming events, have you seen the building that these events take place? As I was looking for information, I found these pictures which are really cool. Hey it doesn't take much to impress me anymore.

The age limit of 16 applies to gymnasts. there is no 'official' Olympic age limit; only age limits set by the International federation of any particular sport
