I have a birthday this month.

July, a month to sweat in here in Spain. The city is on the run towars the beach.

The mighty sun becomes merciless,
forty degrees in the shade
at night nobody can rest
but how much I love the summer, oh yeah!

From now on I use to go sailing. At midday the wind grows higher and you can get some fun from tackling, jigging and soaking.

Be very careful! There are a few of us on these boards with birthdays in July so to us it is not AT ALL dull!!  ;)

Usually my social diary has tumble weeds blowing through it but yesterday I got my 4th invitation to something on the 18th of July *why* does that always happen? It's always the same day and then you have to choose between......... :-\\

I have some great plans for this month though, and sadly dental stuff as well.  :P

How eccentric this all feels- July is here.

Think I found the dog I'm getting, provided the lad isn't adopted yet.
He's a beautiful Corgi/Mini Pinscher mix. He's in Davis, but I don't care- I'll drive there, to get him.
They call him "Deuce", but the name doesn't fit him at all.

If I have my say about it, he will be called Nero, on account of his mostly black coloring, with some tan/brindle.

Yay for Min-Pin!  Our ratdog is mini-Pinscher/Chihuahua mix. :)

Today is the first day of our new high sales tax: 10.25% :o  Needless to say, I'm not going to be doing that much shopping in this county.

On a somewhat similar note, my dad was able to get a small picture of our dog Chloe into the front page of the newspaper he works for (but that was a few weeks ago already). I posted that picture in the Pets Photos thread shortly thereafter. :)

Picked the new (for us) car up from the garage today... $350 in repairs.  :o  :\'(  They put in a new CV Boot (whatever that is) and now it's making a grinding noise (that it wasn't before) when I press hard on the breaks to stop at the stoplight.  Although it doesn't do it every time.

:(  We absolutely do not have any more money to take it in to get that repaired this month.  We still have to make a $600 payment on the car to the former owner.  I guess I'm still glad we got this car, but man... I really hope that it lasts a very long time without much in repairs.  :\'(

This month is going to suck money-wise.

Oh and my hubby is feeling poorly.  He's been feeling sick for about a week now, and even if I were to call the Veterans hospital (where his doctor's appointments are), he would not be able to be seen for at least a month.  I really hope that whatever is ailing him resolves itself really soon.

I hope he feels better by Thursday, we are supposed to go drive (4 hours) to see my family for Friday and his family on Saturday.  We haven't been back for a visit since Christmas and mom is telling me that dad looks at my picture and cries now, because he misses me.  oh dear.    I really don't want to have to move back there (it's a very economically depressed region and has been for 20 years with no end in sight) and I was so happy to have gotten out of there while I was relatively young, and now... if I decide to move back to be a dutiful daughter... maybe I won't be so lucky next time and be able to move away again.

Sorry, just freaking out a little.  ;D  It'll all be ok,  :-\\ at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Got back an hour ago, from a raid in Biggs.

The Elementary School was getting rid of some old desks, and if they aren't gone tonight, they will be going to the Dump.
Melissa & I have discussed getting Teela a new desk or table, to have in her room, as she has outgrown her old table & chair set.

I went to investigate, and found opne in quite good shape, apart from a small carving of an "F", and part of the corner missing a little of the surface wood.
We have it cleaned up, and it has enough room that Melissa was able to sit in it!
(No way I was trying it!  :P )

So, Teela now has a new desk to draw at, or read at, or play w/her Moon Sand on, etc.

So I thought I wasn't going to be working this week, but I forgot that Live 'off' the Levee begins this week.

(Due to the Levee's being structurally unstable in places with several tons of water behind them.)

So it will be at Soldiers Memorial which is in no way big enough a venue. Anyway, today it's time to set up the main stage for Joss Stone. There is another stage with lesser acts, one of which is a guy called Drake Bell. (Who?) Anyway, judging from the media guide he's some sort of mongoloid.

Okay, I won't complain anymore. ;D

I wouldn't mind it so much if I knew that the extra fundage was going to something GOOD.  However, our county board president is pretty corrupt, and the extra money will probably go to his cronies that he elevated to high paying jobs. ::)

I go on in my dear daily routime with those beauties called  vessels or ships.
Never mind, cause to pull and push beauties from sun up to sun down and besides overnight doesn't sound that bad at all.

In July, some peope like to run a hotty day along with some mighty herd of red eyes bulls so close to the horns no matters if they punch your butt.

Hemingway used to go to Pamplona by July to write later "The Sun Also Rises"...in July :)

I feel great today as my favourite football team won the big Rugby League series last night!!! But that was the only thing that recovered my night...

It was all setup for me to go over to my best mates place and watch the match on his large TV screen. I picked up the pizza and ribs...he bought the beer and we settled in for the night.  The phone rings and he starts haviing an argument with his girlfriend. No probs....we settle back into it. The phone rings again....same call from the girlfriend ....big phone row.  I ask him if he needs to go over to her place and talk it out.....no he says I'll let the dust settle and call her tomorrow.

20 mins later ...a knock on the door....and there she is all ready to talk NOW (on her way to meet a friend for drinks). She comes in and we all sit for a while and you can cut the air with a knife......they are trying to have a polite argument with me in the room. I get up and announce I'm going for a walk before the big game comes on (I didn't leave completely as I believed that she had another engagement anyway). I come back from my walk and she hasn't left and they are still arguing (and she is just sitting in her car).  Next moment the car is still there and she is nowhere to be found.  At this point I realise that she is not going anywhere, wants to stay and argue/talk and no football will be watched there. I make a last minute dash from his place to mine and get there as they kick off.....

Just as well the right team won...........I gave him a call this morning to make sure he was still alive.....

I bought my sister's computer off of her last week, so now it's all mine. I still need to get the CD drives accessing again(so my sis can burn the music that she saved on there) and do a format and reload so I can get rid of the problems it has.

Also got a Nintendo DS on Tuesday.

Sorry bookmistress4ever sometimes I like kidding...only a bit. Seriously we all are lucky people, in my little country the taxes chase everyone who work for their wage meanwhile the wealthy men sneak out for tons what they suck. >:(

I have all my images on a flashdrive at the moment.

I would have switched to CDs if the CD drives would have worked. ****ing spyware(it was in the computer when I got it, I had to call up AT&T to get my internet started, since the CD wasn't reading).

Looks like I don't get to go out of town for my birthday, after all.

Teela had an episode yesterday that caused us concern.
She just got back from the doctor, and he's arranging a test for epilepsy on my birthday.
Hopefully, it was a fluke one-time thing.

Melissa's in tears, and is taking it hard.
Me....I want to see what comes up, before I start really hurting.

As I understand it there are varying levels of epilepsy and some that you can grow out of, but in this day and age it's all completely treatable with drugs. My friend's son has just completed university, he's a bright as a button, loads of mates with a very active social life, the only thing he can't do is drive, not the end of the world.

Public service announcement for all you married folks out there.  Don't argue with your spouse in the car while driving.  Today I got a failure to yield ticket because me and my beloved were having words and apparently a guy had to "use his break substantially" because I turned in front of him.  $100 that I do not have.  aaaarrrggghhh...  I've been crying about it all day.  I think this car may have a curse on it.  It cost 3 times the normal amount to get the license plates transferred over ($120) and I even used old plates that I had.  The mechanic charged us $350 for the CV boot/axel, and now this ticket.  I'm thinking of getting a priest to come give the car an exorcism or maybe a witch to come bless it.  ??? :-\\ ;D

Oh boy, oh boy, I'm angry.

People think it's funny to take the piss out of me just because I have more problems than them, then they think it's funny to patronize and belittle me whenever I have to remind them that yes, I have a much larger set of problems on my plate than those who are capable of doing stuff for themselves.

Everyone thinks I'm so incapable of change and then those same people who I thought were my friends, turn their back on me and spit in the food I make for them. It sickens me how two people cannot walk down a street they've never walked down by themselves, and get taunted and yelled and spat at just for being different. And then to be treated with as much disrespect as so-called "adults" can throw at them.. just.. if I weren't so lazy, I'd get up and I'd do something to them that they wouldn't forget.

Our "short" trip:  On Tuesday, we drove down to Conn to visit my sister. That evening, we out to see fireworks. The town where my sister lives and the next town over, scheduled their fireworks at the same time and close in location. (The two towns are separated by a river.) It was really cool. It was sort of like going to a tennis match with turning our head this way and then that way to see the fireworks. It was VERY cool.

The next day, my poor nephew was so nervous that he could hardly eat anything because of an appointment he had at about 3-3:30. When he finally got there, they were running late so he FINALLY got in about 2-3 hours later and when he was done, he came home with the most coveted of prizes-his driver's license.

Because of the DMV running so late, we were late in getting to my other sister's party. But, at least there was still food (which we really didn't have any doubt because when my sister puts on a spread, she really puts on a spread and there is usually enough food left over for everyone to bring something home-which we did). After we ate, we all walked to beach (about 2 blocks from my sister's house) to watch more fireworks. After the town's fireworks were over, people started shooting off their personal ones just when the rain started-and I mean RAIN. (Talk about perfect timing). So we all walked back to my sister's house in the rain. The rain had stopped by the time we got to the house so everyone started to shoot off what my brother-in-law had in the way of fireworks. My sister's yard is only a postage stamp size and some of those things they were shooting off were kind of scary. I told my sister that they may burn down her house and her response was, "Oh well."  :o :o :o  If it was my house, I wouldn't allow them to be shooting those things off so close. But, not only were they shooting them off, so were most of their neighbors. It is like everyone in town had their own arsenal off fireworks and didn't care who was there. My other sister (the one we stayed with) told me that usually everyone on the beach shoots them off and you have to watch out. These people are crazy pyromaniacs.

I was hoping to stay another day but Carlos wanted to come home. So, we left yesterday (after eating a bunch of leftovers from my sister's party.  :D ;D ;D ). I did have a GREAT visit with my sister-which I always do. And we talked, and talked and talked. I called her when we got home to let her know we got home ok and then had to talk for another hour or so. lol.

This is too good to not tell. :D

I was waiting for the bus today and some guy came up and waited for the bus.

He started talking to me. It started out about how the justice system is a mess here in the U.S.

He ended up claiming that he owned McDonald's and MacIntosh and was rich. Of course, this guy was obviously lying. Because if he were rich, he wouldn't have a need to take the bus.

Well, today I received one of my birthday presents early.

We found a small Mini Pinscher mixed that no one got to.
We went straight to Chico, to Petco, and he was there.
I looked at 3 dogs, and he was the only one who responded to me at all.

He's 8 months old, black and dark tan, and is quite playful.
The only thing is the name he was listed with- "Roscoe".
That is most definitely NOT his name.
Therefore, I am training him under his new name, then name I feel more suits him- "Nero".

Okay... today, for the first time in 8 years, I went...

BOWLING!! :D

Yes, my family and I decided to go bowling, since it had been a while since I'd last done some. We went to a bowling alley and played two games. I was a wee bit rusty at first, having unintentionally sent the ball into the gutter on my first two rolls. But then I remembered to do a follow-through when approaching the bowling lane, and I got progressively better. I also used a lighter-weight ball beginning on the 5th frame in the first game...and I finished with a 99. In my second game, I managed to bowl 103, which is the second time I ever reached the triple digits. My dad hurt his finger during the second game and didn't do so well. But we all had fun. :)

My mom used to be really good at bowling...until she injured her wrist in a roller skating accident in 1989 (and permanently dislocated a bone). However, she still seems to be doing pretty well; in fact, she won the second game we played today, with a score of 136. However, she didn't make any strikes.

hey...all that matters is that you had a good time! I love to bowl...I'm not that great at it..but we always have a good time when we go. Vaughn had a bowling party this year for his birthday and he had a great time....infact, all of the kids did. :)

Of course! :) Once I get in there I start enjoying it again...even after an 8 year hiatus.

I'm glad Vaughn and his friends had a good time at his party too. :) O0 Bowling is fun, regardless of the occasion.

And speaking of birthdays, mine is next Friday and I still haven't come up with any ideas on what to do for the day, but I have thought about maybe doing some more bowling (as a tentative option). I definitely want to go out for dinner, though. :)

Today is my sisters 40th birthday and we had a barbecue.  She is not very happy about turning 40 so me, being the sweet and caring little sister I am bought her a card that said:

"A little birdie told me you were turning 40.  Or maybe it was the angel of death, I don't know it had wings anyway"

Yeah, I'm mean like that. ;D

Karma for making me laugh. ;)

Me too. It's my turn in a couple of weeks and it bothers me none. I was planning to loose a little weight but as I also plan to start eating cake around the 12th and carry on until the 21st I figure I'll assess the damage afterwards.  ;D

Spent some of yesterday tidying the hallway. We got a new unit to store the shoe mountain that lives there. You can now see carpet and it's all neat and tidy, couldn't bring myself to get rid of any shoes though. Today it's pouring with rain so I plan to tackle the towel cupboard  :o

I hear ya!
Mine's in 9 or so days.
Unfortunately, my original plans had to be postponed, so I have no idea what to do.

Today we will take a ride up the coast.  The weather isn't supposed to be the best, but I don't care, the coast is the coast  :)

Okay... today, for the first time in 8 years, I went...

BOWLING!!

You plan on going bowling again?

I'm back!

My mum and my mother-in-law went home on Wednesday.  We were fairly busy while they were here visiting various tourist attractions locally and slightly further afield including a day in Boston and two days in New York.  We could have packed more in but my mum wasn't well.  Not entirely sure what it was; she was just very confused and not functioning well at all.  My dad is taking her to the doctors tomorrow.

The children have been off school since mid-June and driving me crazy the past few days.  A combination of not enough sleep and too much hanging around the house I think.

We bought them a wii console with some games the other week and my daughter is so competitive with it.  She won't switch it off for a meal or whatever till she's completed a level.  And that sometimes takes her a couple of hours!  I've already enforced two wii free days!

wow..that really sucks. Is he allowed to just up and get rid of your son, beings that he already hired him and stuff? That seems like it would be against the law to do that.

I know I've been trying to think of any legal action we could take. His granddaughter is a friend of my daughter, and she says he does that kinda stuff all the time, she's worked there on and off,but only if they're busy, her mother got so fed up that she quit(and the owner is her father)My husband and I think that the woman that quit may of wanted the 4th of July weekend off and he told her no,so after Saturday she decided she wanted her job back,it just seems strange.

I'm feeling ok right now.  Joel has a Birthday on July 8.  I'm going to talk to my mom about ear stuff before I see the doctor on the 15th.  I'd like to do the metal bone surgery and see what happens before doing a coclear implant.  The brain can react any way it wants and and It's possible I could loose what I have.  I know of a lot of wonderful stories with coclear implants I'm just a little nervious about the unknown here.  It looks like I just have tests sceduled and more tests to scedule so no operations yet.

I love it whenever one of my sisters hit a milestone birthday. I ALWAYS rub it in that I am STILL younger than they are. This is paybacks for all those years growing up when they always rubbed it in that they were older than I was.

In Aug. I have a sister who will be hitting the BIG 5-0 http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/19.gif
