June 19th 1978 – Garfield, created by American cartoonist Jim Davis, made its debut, eventually becoming one of the world's most widely syndicated comic strips.
Garfield is now 30 years old and the aging does not show.

Garfield will always be special to me because he was born the same year I was (1978), plus I practically grew up with him. :D

I think I still have that book ("Garfield At Large", I believe that's what it was called) with that particular strip and all the earliest Garfield strips.
