Urgh, just woke up . I've either slept too long or not enough, not sure which. Today we are going round to my brother's house at some point so Himself can sort the computer out.

I believe I can safely return, for a spell.

Much to do tomorrow, since Melissa's birthday is technically today.

She will report later, I'm sure. ;)

Seems like a nice day today. Breakfast in the morning, watch George Stephanopolous, read a book on the lawn in the sun, go to a birthday party in the afternoon, then maybe a ride down the beach.  AAAHHHHHHH  the way life should be  :)

When it was that time (in either your time zone or mine), I was sound asleep. :)

But I had to get up early to go to church this morning (with my family). And then we picked up my grandma and great-aunt from my grandma's house, stopped at Albertsons to get some food trays (fruits/vegies) for my party, which starts in just a few hours!

os os just staying a little extra insane until I know if I'm going to be able to hear speech or not.  Just 14 more days until I see the doctor to check my ear drum and make final plans for a metal bone and or any other possible surgeries.

Even though not all of my invitees came to my party this afternoon, I still had a wonderful time with those who did show up. The highlight of the party was when the dance instructor gave us all a dance lesson in single-time swing dancing! She has the ladies rotate, so that all the guys get to dance with all the ladies. :) I had a great time.

excellent Jeff. sounds like everyone had good time.

I barely got up in time to go to church today  ::)  afterwards, came home and spent about 3 hours in the front yard pulling weeds (clover) out of my lawn. the stuff was strangling the life out of my grass. I could have spread some weed killer but it was a beautiful day so I just sat on the grass and worked. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow. We played poker until 3am Friday night. there were 5 players, I took 2nd place in the 1st game and won $15 bucks, and then in the 2nd game I got knockedout first, and that sucked!  >:(  but on a high note, Lady Di won that game and won $25 dollars

I have never been so proud of being her husband, as I feel right now.

Looks like I have some more people to say thanks to so thanks to.

This will be intresting because The doctor did try to reteach the bone when he first found it off.  He has been putting something in my ear that feels like Vaseline to make sure the ear drum heals.  That would be neat if my old bone started working again.  I'm going to try looking up cochlear implants a little more and how they work.  Each of my ears work differently.  My left ear picks up tones and I can still tune a guitar.  The right ear does the speech.  I think my doctor has said I might be able to put it on the left to save any sound I have in the right.  I wouldn't want to do an implant if it will hinder the left side.

Today my dad and I took the spawn boy on a drive through Mt. Madonna, Hecker Pass, and some weird random gravel/dirt road that freaked me the hell out. Why? Because it was about 1500 feet up on the side of Mt. Madonna with nothing to save us if a wrong turn or driving error was made. Thanks dad for giving me more reasons to stress and lose my hair. :D

It was pretty though, and I haven't been through that part of my state in ages. We were going to take Jason to see the deer up at the county park on Mt. Madonna, but they were all gone. I think they evacuated them during the fire. :(

Your dad sounds like mine, he'd go to bed at 7:30 or earlier.  When we go in for visits (because we're nite owls) we'd sit and talk and he'd dose off in his chair unintentionally.  ;D

Yeah, both my parents are like that. Well, my mom is like that because she gets up at four in the morning to go to work. :P Speaking of which, today is her birthday and I need to go get her a card and a cake and stuff as soon as my lazy assed son wakes up.

We are going to vote in a special election. It seems that our little town has quite a bit surplus and everyone is trying to figure out how to us it. There will be 13 articles on the ballot (which Carlos got a sample yesterday so we know exactly what is on it)-stuff like replacing sidewalks on one street, improvements to the park, etc. etc.

Then we are going to pick up some produce. There is a local (organic) farm that sell "shares". We are going to buy what they call a "mini share" and we will get some of the produce that the farm produces for the next 5 months. Carlos did this once before with his ex-wife. We are not too sure what we are going to get-not to sure what is in season at the moment.

I think it is good for several reasons:
-It helps a local farm. (This farm used to donate to the Food Shelf when I was running it.)
-It is cheaper than buying organic produce in the store.
-It is fresh/local.

It is a win/win situation.

We have something like that in Illinois. I want to do it as soon as we get more stability in Rice's income, because the farm closest to Chicago also gives jobs to people who are pretty bad off.

I am tired. Today I worked my butt off at home. I took all of the handles off of our kitchen cabinets (probably around 30)...then I spray painted them a pewter color and put them back on. It changed the entire appearance of the cabinets....so cool and inexpensive!  Everyday I spend time organizing/cleaning/redoing/decorating the house. Someday..it will be completed! :)

That is wonderful news, Karen, though I thought you already were a naturalised American citizen - oops!  :-many years and kept telling myself that I was gonna make it official and become an American citizen...and only now have I gotten around to doing it!  :D

You'd think that being married to an American citizen, with American kids, would make me an American citizen...right?  Wrong.  I had to go through the whole process...but now it's done!  :)

For the record, I actually have 'dual' citizenship with Canada and the U.S. ... 8)

No it is not, Phil...

A Green Card is what I've been holding for all these years, ever since my family moved from Canada to the U.S. when I was still a baby...

Green Card holders essential have most of the benefits that American citizens do, except they can't vote or be called for jury duty...

When I became naturalized, I had to give back my Green Card as I wouldn't be needing it anymore!  :D

Good news...hubby just made a deal to get a new(er) car from his buddy's mom for us on Saturday.  It's a 1999 Station Wagon and has 100,000 miles on it, but hell it has reverse gear and probably goes over 25 miles per hour (unlike my van). And it's something we can afford and we can make payments on it.  I'm so stoked.  Woo hoo.

Until last night, I didn't understand why exactly that Central Middle School does this.

Tomorrow, Melissa & I have been invited to a BBQ for Volunteers, at Teela's school.

First thing I'd check is her left hand.
If you see a ring on her ring finger- just move on to the next one.

If the field appears to be clear, casually approach her, and make a little small talk, before asking her.
If she says no, then just take it for what it is, and politely excuse yourself.

So,the ring finger is what you look for? I haven't thought about that one,Thanks Wayne.I've never gotten to talk to women in the parking lot because I'm so busy collecting carts that I don't want to stop and talk because I'll be so worried about the lot being filled up with wagons that I'll forget where I left off.

Good points,

I would start very slowly, Howard. Only smile at the lady to start with and then only say hello when the smiling becomes mutual. Once the smiling becomes mutual and hello's are being said, then maybe use small talk with a touch of humour thrown in.

'Cold-calling' (as I like to call it) takes a lot of preparation. Remember that this lady doesn't know you from Adam so you need to make her feel comfortable first before you attempt a rapport. Step by step . . .

Good luck. :)

Mad as f**k. So last Friday night, I had bought three different types of booze (Kahlua, apple pucker, and premixed Long Island iced teas). The bottle of tea got broken on Friday night by my sister's friend. I wasn't too mad because the shopping bags were flimsy and he didn't have a good grip on it. When I went to bed on Friday night, a half bottle of Kahlua and most of the apple pucker was left. Last night I went looking for them. They were gone. My goddamned sister's leech of a friend took it ALL. Then tonight I went to get my bottle of SKYY vodka (you know, the top shelf expensive sh*t) that I had had from a couple of weeks ago to mix a screwdriver. There was maybe two inches to this bottle left when I got it out of the cabinet. I distinctly remember there being at least a half a bottle left over before her damned friend was around. I am SO pissed right now because SKYY vodka is not cheap and I didn't buy all that alcohol for his lush ass to drink.

Oh, he's going to be one sorry ho when I see him again...

Today was a weird day.  I went to this beauty school to get my hair done (because I had a $10 coupon).  I'd been there before and the student did a good job.  Today, they had a special for hair color and a cut.  I arrived at 1:30 (my appointment), the girl didn't start coloring my hair until a hour later (I was sitting at her station even), and then 2 hours later the color is finally done.  She starts cutting my hair, but stops halfway (only one side of my head was cut) and says "Well I gotta leave now for my other job, but I'll get someone else to finish cutting your hair for you."  ??? :o  Um, ok.  So then she brings her teacher to check out the color what hair she managed to cut, then asked her teacher to finish cutting my hair for me, gathers up her stuff and takes off.  The teacher does start cutting it...then asks another student (the same guy that did my hair cut 2 months ago) to finish cutting my hair for me.  So a hour after that I am finally finished.  It took from 1:30 - 5:30 to get my hair done and it still ended up costing $56 (with tip).  My hubby is telling me I should write to the school and complain, because the girl that left should not have started cutting my hair if she knew she was going to be leaving mid-way thru the procedure.  The color is nice, although since the student left me half cut, the teacher and other student had to recut it the proper way (so now it's shorter then I really had planned.)  But oh well, it still looks alright, and it's still better then anything *I* could have done to it.  I don't like to complain, I really don't want to get anyone in trouble.

Here's my new cut/color, it's just above my shoulders (this is the shortest it's been in a good 20 years or so.)

Well that sucks Jess, next time take all the alcohol to your room with you.  ;D  I'd hand him a bill for what he drank.

The cut and color suit you i think.  But 4 hours to get your hair done!  I would definitely complain about that.

One question (probably showing my britishness!) why did you tip them if you didn't like the job?

I'm laying in wait for him to show up. :D

I like your haircut and the color. You should complain though. Do it in a nice way or something:

"To Whom It May Concern:

While I love the cut and color I received at your school, I do not appreciate having it take four hours."

Then just explain what happened and all the trouble you went through. Let this be a lesson to the student. If she's going to be a professional, then she needs to freakin' act like one. And the teacher shouldn't have let her go so easily. That's lame.

Thanks.

I'm silly with money, that's why.  I just remember there were times when I was married the first time, that all the money we had to go on was what he made in tips (delivering pizza) that day until my paycheck came in or his came in.  So...I guess I just kinda pass on the good karma (from those days all those years ago), even though tips are really how you are supposed to show whether you are pleased (or not) with service.  I understand the concept, I just don't feel it's right not to tip something.  ;D

I rarely tip the hairdresser.  Sometimes if they've done a good job then I do.  I used to think about tipping them, thinking I'd say 'keep the change' but then it would turn out to be exactly £10 or something and it seemed weird to routle around to find an extra coin or two to give them  :-\\

Yesterday, I finally became a naturalized American citizen!  :D

Congratulations Girl!!!! Best thing I have heard all day!!

Well, I am in windy Arkansas right now - about ready to head to bed.
We got a late start today, so unfortunately we didn't make it as far as we would have liked, but we are out of the State of Texas!!! WooHoo! Up again tomorrow at the butt crack of dawn to drive even more. Hate the Uhaul trailer - makes our suv use more gas than I ever thought it would! :o

More updates to follow!!!

Me too, and I also think you should write to the school. Not to complain as such but to lay out the facts, there is no way it should have taken that long and as your husband says the girl should not have started your hair if she knew she was leaving. She needs the feedback so she can improve her work.

I see this certain woman almost all the time in the parking lot, today she gave ME the smile and I smiled back. She has short brown hair with a few tied knots in the back, sometimes she looks serious.Man I'm just afraid of talking to women there,I might get rejected.  :(
I wouldn't do that Howard  http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/14/nono.gif  and i wouldn't worry so much about rejection, although that does suck. It's possible a customer may not like being approached by an employee asking them on a date when all they came to do was a little shopping. She/they might complain and you could lose your job.  it's risky.  too bad there wasn't somewhere else nearby, some gathering place/watering hole where you could prey on   ask some nice girl out for some coffee  ::)

what a unusual hairstyle experience you had, but at least it does look cute  :)

Oh, he's going to be one sorry ho when I see him again...
what a leech! I'd be mad too!  very inconsiderate and nervy of this guy. get em jess!  http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/09/snake.gif
