This is going to sound weird.For the past few days,I don't know what it was but it must be an attack bird,could be a mockingbird was near our house and it almost attacked or pecked My Father,My Mother and this afternoon when I was about to step out of the house and walk to work,the bird just swooped down made a noise but it didn't do anything,I just screamed like a madman fell on my palm,bloody a bit and a slight neck strain and went back inside the house for a little while to calm down,I talked to my supervisor and I thought I was going to be late but I wasn't.Never have I screamed like that in quite some time but that was crazy.Maybe the mockingbird was looking for a nest or whatever but it was congregating around our bushes and around our house.What do you do in this situation?  ???

Should we call The ASPCA,Police or some kind of animal protection agency? ???

Now I'm afraid of going outside to walk to the bus stop to go to work cause I'm scared of getting hit by the mockingbird. :(
We want to know that this mockingbird is gone for good! >:(

what time do you guys need to be picked up?   Amtrak can be enjoyable, you'll see countryside not seen from the road or highways. We rode it twice, once to Reno, and once to Yosemite. the time we went to Reno, there was 2 or 3 Amish families in one car and they must have been there a few days, looked like they were living on the train and it smelled like a stinky sweaty school gym in that car, but other than that, it's cool. It's not slow, but not really fast, especially with stops. bring some music and a book. and make sure to go to the Cheese Factory in Sonoma

Howard if this has only just started happening I would say the very likely explaination is that there is a nest very,very close by. The poor bird is thinking you and your parents are about to attack her chicks so she is attacking you! We have had this happen in the past. We did call out the RSPB but all they could tell us was exactly that. They located the nest , in a hole in a tree, but couldn't do anything until the chicks had flown then they came back and filled the hole to stop the bird nesting there again.If you can either put up with it for a few weeks or if you can leave the house by a different door, once the chicks have flown you will be fine again.

8:00am a bunch of repairmen invaded my home.  There still here, it's 10:00 am.  I'm not a happy camper. :P  Everything else is fine.  Allergies are under control and I should be going back to the beach for a day. (before school lets out . . . less crowded)

My cable-internet-phone company sucks. On april 7th we sent them a money order,yesterday about 8:30 the internet stops working well this has happened before,so if you unplug it wait a few minutes and plug it back in it will work,tried that nothing the phones not working and the cable is off,ok so I walk downtown to the payphone,they tell me that they turned us off.I explained that we mailed a payment,so they tell me they will give me till friday to figure things out.Tim comes home finds the receipt to the money order,we call them back up,and tell them we have the receipt,their answer was they haven't got the payment and it's not their fault if it got lost,so they tell us to trace the money order.The post office says they can't do that till its been out for 60 days.Call back the cable company and explain that it has to be 60 days,their answer will give you till monday to make another payment,If we had sent a check that would be fine,but a moneyorder you have to pay up front,so if they dont find it does that mean we're out the $100 we sent them..I'm just so pissed right now.

May is starting out to be a REALLY bad month.

Mom called this afternoon.  She went to the doctors yesterday.  He told her that she is in the beginning stages of Alzheimers Disease.  She is only  59 years old.  Although truthfully, it's something I suspected anyways.  She has been on medication for it for awhile now, (about a year.)  She has fallen twice at work, and her concentration (when I talk to her on te phone) has been not so good lately.  I don't know what to do, what to say, I want to be supportive (I live 3 hours drive away).  Has anyone had experience with this disease?  The ironic thing?  When I was first moving away from home, mom would kinda guilt trip me for leaving by saying stuff like "One day I will be in a home and not know whats going on, all you have to do is come in and visit me, pat my hand and say "I'm here Mom and it's going to be ok."  Perhaps she is psychic. 
I'm scared, sad, concerned, angry...everything...all rolled up into one.

awww Patty..I'm so sorry to hear this. :(  My grandma is in the stages of it as well. She repeats things like crazy. She will tell you the same story like 5 times in a row. It's such a horribly sad disease. If you ever need to talk..I'm here.

We used to live right near the police helicopter base so we got used to them flying over all the time, it just sucked at night when they had the spotlight on, damn those things are bright! Thanks all.  The more I see this woman, the more I wanna ask her out, and then the more I get scared.  It's not so much rejection that I am afraid of, but the possible awkwardness if she says no.  I like giving her a ride home, having someone to talk to, and I don't want to lose that.  But if I don't ask her out soon, my feelings for her will only get stronger

Thanks all.  The more I see this woman, the more I wanna ask her out, and then the more I get scared.  It's not so much rejection that I am afraid of, but the possible awkwardness if she says no.  I like giving her a ride home, having someone to talk to, and I don't want to lose that.  But if I don't ask her out soon, my feelings for her will only get stronger

May is starting out to be a REALLY bad month.

Mom called this afternoon.  She went to the doctors yesterday.  He told her that she is in the beginning stages of Alzheimers Disease.  She is only  59 years old.  Although truthfully, it's something I suspected anyways.  She has been on medication for it for awhile now, (about a year.)  She has fallen twice at work, and her concentration (when I talk to her on te phone) has been not so good lately.  I don't know what to do, what to say, I want to be supportive (I live 3 hours drive away).  Has anyone had experience with this disease?  The ironic thing?  When I was first moving away from home, mom would kinda guilt trip me for leaving by saying stuff like "One day I will be in a home and not know whats going on, all you have to do is come in and visit me, pat my hand and say "I'm here Mom and it's going to be ok."   Perhaps she is psychic. 
I'm scared, sad, concerned, angry...everything...all rolled up into one.

So, I just came back from 2 neighborhood church rummage sales...and I got two huge shopping bags full of neato stuff...for a whopping total of...$3.50!! :o  Gotta love me some great deals! :)

Then the conductor comes on and announces that a barge broke loose on the Mississippi, got stuck under the train bridge because the river is so high, and.....they didn't know anymore than that. So we wait. And wait. Then they announce we're backtracking twenty or so miles to the previous station because we were out in the middle of god knows where and the bridge has been deemed unsafe. So we back up. By this time, I'm heartily sick of it all, call Rice and tell him to come get me at Galesburg (the station we backed up to). They finally decide that people going on to Iowa would wait at that station for busses, and the train would be rerouted to Kansas City, a mere 10 1/2 hour delay. Pile on how delayed the train usually gets when it goes through the Rockies....and yeah. Fut dat.

You know, I have no clue. Up until that snafu, we were having a great time. The food was excellent, pretty much what you'd find in a nice restaurant. Our sleeping car attendant was an absolute sweetheart. The conductors and dining car attendant were helpful. And, though small, our little compartment was comfortable. But, as usual, the corporate offices left the employees on the train to clean up the mess with customers. I feel so bad for them because they were taking the brunt of the frustrations and it wasn't even their fault. I still tipped my sleeping car attendant just because she was so nice in helping me get off at the station in Galesburg.

Did anyone dance around the Maypole yesterday?  No, I didn't either.  I certainally have no desire to become fertile.  ;D

Update on my mom: 

Talked to her a good half hour or so.  Her doctor hasn't really told her much of anything about her condition.  She says he's not especially communicative, he didn't even give her the results of her cholesterol test.  >:(  She's not computer savvy and so I don't know if I should share what I've read online and/or how much to share.  I don't want to be gloom and doom.  I was partially right about her taking the Alzheimer's medication, Aricept, for about a year...it was prescribed to her...and she took it for awhile...but...(and I could spit nails for this one) she stopped getting it filled because it cost her $20 A MONTH.  I told her then that I would pay for it for her, and I made sure that she understand (again) this time when I talked to her that I would pay for it if she would just take it.

I guess that is where I get the not taking so good care of myself ideal from.  She said today she's gotta start taking better care of herself.
She said that they (the physicians) had her on so many medicines (blood pressure, diabetes, and this alzheimer's disease pills) that her whole paycheck was spent just buying medicines for herself. 

She also told me that I didn't have to worry about moving back to where my parents live.  She didn't want me to uproot my life.  My hubby already told me that we would move anywhere I needed or wanted to be.

Sorry for rambling here, sometimes I just start talking and can't seem to stop.  I guess I will end my novel here.  :)

No worries about rambling, it's what we're here for. 

It might be a good idea for you to go with your Mother to the doctor.  You you'll get a better idea of what's expected and you may ask questions that might not occur to her. 
You might even ask if there are generic options to the medications she's been prescribed.

As I drove her home today, I built up the courage and asked her if I could take her dancing sometime, but she said that she only goes to the clubs/dancing when she's with her sister-in-law.  I really wanted to tell her that I have a big crush on her, but I know that if I did, things would definately get awkward.  What confuses this situation even more is that there is another girl at work that I also have a big crush on, and it tears me up inside because I honestly know that I have no chance with either of them

I want to be with a girl whom I can share my life, love and laughter with but I know I will never get that, and somedays, it gets me sad that I just sit and cry real tears :\'(

As I drove her home today, I built up the courage and asked her if I could take her dancing sometime, but she said that she only goes to the clubs/dancing when she's with her sister-in-law.  I really wanted to tell her that I have a big crush on her, but I know that if I did, things would definately get awkward.  What confuses this situation even more is that there is another girl at work that I also have a big crush on, and it tears me up inside because I honestly know that I have no chance with either of them

so my brother finally came over for the weekend and eating a ton of pizza for dinner, he went to bed at 930pm  :o what the heck, he's only 42 but we did work on my backyard trees and the bushes on the side of my house and my sprinkler system. the kid really knows what he's doing and will save me some money. After we get up and make some coffee, we'll get back to work on the sprinkler system, and hopefully some fence repair. at 5pm, 2 friends are swinging by so we can all drive together to my softball teams poker tournament fundraiser. hopefully it goes well and my friends win some money.

Hall's cough drops are for wimps.  I think I could handle Potter's.  Thymol is pretty much the herb Thyme.  Some people with breathing problems smoke thyme.  There's a bit of a problem with that though . . . it smells like pot.

Ok, so I had a hell of a night/day..starting last night. To make a long story short. Chris' brother and his girlfriend are PISSED that Chris no longer wants anything to do with them. They were a horrible influence on him and he's trying to better himself now. She tried to add me on myspace a few days ago and I rejected her TWICE. She still didn't get the hint so I put on my status message, "What part of NO don't you understand?"

So....she started sending me threatening and harassing emails calling me every name from: whore (yet she was the one that was knocked up by gosh knows who), dumb b***h (even though she can't even write a complete sentence), she told me that she is a better mother than me because Vaughn is not my own (even though as a punishment, she put her stepson in the corner for 7 hours straight until he puked everywhere), she said that I brainwash Chris, break up the family...I could go on and on. The B***H even had the nerve to insult Vaughn...and nobody insults him. Seriously..I wanted to drive over and pound her in the face...hard.  Then, after all of the harassing things she said to me..she had enough nerve to write, "don't write back to me..or I will get you on harassment charges"...UM..ok? ???

The worst thing is that I actually have to work with his brother..we work at the same place. ::)  I think I am gonna have to quit soon and find a different place of employment.

I'd turn the tables on her and take it to the police. You may not get harassment charges on THAT, but they will be aware of what she said, and they might even go warn her. Ok, so I had a hell of a night/day..starting last night. To make a long story short. Chris' brother and his girlfriend are PISSED that Chris no longer wants anything to do with them. They were a horrible influence on him and he's trying to better himself now. She tried to add me on myspace a few days ago and I rejected her TWICE. She still didn't get the hint so I put on my status message, "What part of NO don't you understand?"

Well ... I seem to recall a couple of people recently going down with colds ... and today ... I find myself too .... definitely feeling less than 100%.  The coughing yesterday ... and the tickling in the nose .... I'm POSITIVE  ... a friggin cold's on the way.  Had dinner with a friend on Friday .. . who's been unwell in this regard, for several weeks. Drove me halfway home in his car. Maybe I picked up some bugs ?


Anyhow ...... I'm trying something out ..... that I've NEVER used before ..... and has been recently ........ fairly heavily advertised on TV here. It's made by 'Vicks' .......... and is called 'First Defence'. It's a nasal spray (3 pumps per nostril, every 6 hours, approx.)  At $19 , or thereabouts, not cheap ...... but if it works. Well, I've only had one dosage so far, and just about to try 2nd. Gotta say ...... and ...... I'm generally VERY sceptical  re 'cold remedies' ....... I DID feel remarkably better about 2 hours back. Now .... not so good, so, it's early days.  We'll see ?

The Lord works in mysterious ways. So y'all know how I got off the train because of the delays and all that. Yesterday we wound up at the children's hospital with Jason because he kept saying his "butt hurt". I honestly thought it was his tailbone because it was in that general area and he was crying when he sat and laid on his back. Nope. Turns out he had an ABSCESS right at the top of his...er...butt crack, but it was hidden by the crack part. It had already ruptured, but not enough to drain proper. So they partially sedated him and numbed the area with local anastethic and then they cut it open. They got it cleaned out and sent us home. He's on some pretty strong antibiotics right now, along with some Ibuprofen for the pain. He's obviously feeling better though, because he's driving me nuts. :D

So yeah. I think it was divine intervention or something. If I had stayed on the train, we would have gotten into California REALLY early this morning and probably wound up at the crappy ER out there. At least here we have the option of the children's hospital where they know how to treat kids proper. He also would have been in a lot of pain the whole way.

By the way, I have rebooked my tickets on Amtrak. Instead of going on the California Zephyr (goes through the Rockies and the Sierras) though, we are going on the Southwest Chief (goes through the Southwest and into L.A.). My family is being cool enough to drive five hours to pick me up in Los Angeles so I don't have to try to catch another train up to the Central Coast with a child and luggage in tow. :) And it's STILL cheaper than flying.

We have the same stuff over here, but they tell us that we need to use it BEFORE the symptoms appear. Thing that kills me is that I am an avid hand washer, and I always steer clear of those who are sick, but this one got me! It's a nasty beast too!

Jess, I am so glad for you that there was a problem and you had to stay home! I couldn't imagne taking a child to a regular old ER - they have no patience for children and the kids can feel it. Just makes everything worse. And you are right - The Lord does work in mysterious ways! 8)

Tam, this ER that we used to go to out in Cali was HORRIBLE! When Jason was 10 months old, he got really dehydrated and we took him out there. The nurses stabbed the hell out of him trying to find a vein, but they couldn't because he was so dry. I was PISSED. That is why I'm so so glad that the U of Chicago has a children's hospital where they actually care and coddle the little ones. Now their ER for adults, however....

Ladybug, I wouldn't worry about abscesses. We have a version of Staph that runs in our family (possibly that MRSA everyone is talking about), so we get those nasty abscesses once in a while. This was Jason's first though, and I hope it's his last. Those things hurt. I got one on my face and it was just nasty and painful. :P Rice gets them on his legs, and there is really nothing to do for them but wait for them to burst. If they don't do that, that's when we usually wind up at the hospital where they drain them. The antibiotics are mainly to prevent more infection after they clean them out since there really isn't anything to do for the Staph itself.

Plus- it gave me SOMETHING to do.

I have friends who, like me, have medical through the Military, but they still prefer to go to the free clinics simply because of bedside manner and compassion. I try to stay as far away from my "PCM" (primary care manager in the Army) because in all the times I have seen them, never once have they actually listened to what I was trying to say. Not to mention that I once called because I feared I had strep throat... they told me the soonest appt. was almost 4 weeks away!!!

Although The Son is almost 16, his PCM is in Pediatrics still, and I love them!! When The Son gets sick, we both go to see them, that way I get better treatment as a human than trying to go to my regular one.

I want to try to get back on the dating scene again but the problem is I don't have the time except for when they give me days off whenever that'll be or after 4 Sundays.Staying out of the house gives me something to do instead of being at home almost all the time.

It's all well & good to think you know what women want, but the reason the women KNOW better on this one, is precisely that- they're women.

Be careful about falling into a "traditional" male trap, such as "stereotyping".
Too many men do that, and end up alienating good women that way.
The same goes for "macho sexism". Don't mistake women as being "helpless"- the Modern Woman has so many surprises up her sleeve, it boggles the mind!

Use the time around your schedule to plan any activities, and see if any dating possibilities occur.

When comes Saturday,the schedule's out and I never know how many days off I'll get could be 1 could be 2 or maybe 3 and the latest I've worked was about 7,9,and once was 10pm but no more,the latest I'll work is 4pm and that's on Sunday which I'm now the 10-4 guy.And now my hours are given as 10-2,10-3,10-4 or 2-6 depends on the week,that's what my week consists of.

Answer phone yes, mobile no. I just want to catch the call when it is made. Contacting them (without a true contact number) sounds pressurising them. There again, they may not be ready to phone me yet.

I have several books containing H.P. Lovecraft's stories, and also of similar writings from other authors who contributed to the Cthulhu Mythos.
If you like Gothic supernatural horror stories from the '20s & '30s, then I recommend them.
If not, then avoid them.

I have some neighbors who have played video games based on Lovecraftian stories, and they claim they're the scariest they have ever played.
I told them that if they think the games are scary, they should read the stories upon which they are based.
(Besides, that would actually give them the solutions to the games, I should think.)

Comcast came today to set up our new phone service. After the dude left, I discovered we had no internet service. However, in hooking up the phone, somehow the internet was disconnected. I called their customer service # (the woman didn't SOUND like she was from India but I could be wrong). After trying to trouble shoot with her on the cell phone for awhile, I requested a tech come out. After I hung up, I realized that we didn't have any phone service. OY VEY!!!  I called back. The tech came out and we now have phone & internet. But, I think there are some things with the computer that are a bit screwy. I'll figure those out (I hope).

See Ladybug It goes like this,Her Parents were brought up poor so she was thinking if her parents were brought up poor then Her And I would live poor or somewhere that's poor and I kept telling her that I will not allow us to live slumly,We would find something maybe by the next year or so but I kept telling her to be patient but she wouldn't be cause she fears the future and I think that was caused by her medication she takes.

She also told me that she needed a guy(she thought I would be the one)to have a little higher salary than she has but I told her I haven't had a job in over a decade and working my way up the ladder with now 2 jobs under my belt and I'm very proud of my accomplishments so far within the past 2 years.

So when her parents cannot take care of her anymore,it goes right to the guy,that's how it works with them,old fashioned people they are. ::)

There are people (myself included who was brought up by the unemployed class) who do genuinely get scared of poverty after being there before. I know I get worried if I don't have enough money even when everything is paid for. I very much doubt fearing the future is brought on by medication. I fear the future too but that was because of my time with Jehovah's Witnesses (when the end of this system of things is rammed down your throat at such an early age it doesn't give you much confidence or motivation to think about the next day). This makes me believe that fearing the future is a learned pattern of thought and not derived from tablets.

However, it does boil down to the same thing, if someone loves another then they believe in that person and understand that everything will be alright regardless. As much as this hurts you right now, you both weren't meant to be. However, the hurt will go away. :)

today is  typical BUT great news about the weekend...

Mom is coming to town for a visit, so i get mom's day with her and my mother in law together...that will be fun BUT
