looking forward to my first year at Pathmark in just a couple of weeks and I get...paid vacation. :)

Today I returned to the gym after quite some time. This morning  I felt quite intimidated by a female member of staff called Irene talking loudly outside my room and I also felt that she spoke harshly to another resident. I also saw a notice about a meeting for residents this coming Thursday but on one of the agenda sheets, I saw that another resident had written 'Stephen is an idiot.' I was so shocked to see it that I reported it to the team leader who eventually took it down. After the gym, things got a bit better with Irene because I spoke to her about my Co-Op purchases while she was cooking lunch for the staff and showed her some recent photographs after eating my lunch.

Not much today. Too cold out and I have a nasty headache.

Dai is going to Chile today.  He decided yesterday he wanted to take his navy blazer except he lost a button.  I didn't have one in my box of spares so this morning I drove across to buy a new set of buttons.  He needed it doing for about 3 this afternoon he said.  In the shop my mobile rings - Dai saying he needs to leave at noon due to a change of plan!  So I bomb home and sew on three buttons in record time then head down to his work to hand the jacket over.

Now I'm waiting for the guy to come and fix our toilets (and hoping I didn't miss him whilst I was out).  And thinking what I want for lunch.

This afternoon/evening I'm helping out with Elizabeth's Girl Scout troop.

We got my boss good.  We are slammed and he is stressed, so his assistant and I decided to be mean.  I sent him an email telling him my computer started smoking and now it wouldn't turn on.  I guess it took him a minute to for it to sink in that I was sending an email from a broken computer. ;D  Thankfully he has a good sense of humor.

A hectic day in work today, Hillary Clinton stopped by our shop on her campaign trail. I got to meet her
as my job was explained to her. She told me my welds were beautiful and that I did excellent work. I

At the present time, relaxing in our motel room.  We got up at 2 a.m. and was on the road at 3:20 a.m.  It took us 12.5 hours, but we have arrived in Allentown, PA.  We drove through torrential rain in Michigan and slightly less heavy (but still unpleasant) rain in OH...enough to keep us slowed down.  Rain stopped about halfway thru PA.  We start Micah's appointments at 9:30 in the morning and she will "move in to her room" about 4:15 pm.  She will spend the night w/ a student and resume appts Thursday morning, after which time we'll get back on the road (so probably home around midnight or 12:30 a.m.).  I drove from the apt to just after we got on the OH turnpike and Micah drove the rest of the way.  Not bad considering she was in the ER the night before w/ possible strep.  They gave her a penicillin injection and a steroid injection so she wouldn't infect everyone she came in contact with (steroid was to reduce swelling so she could talk and swallow).  She felt better by the time we got home and this morning (other than a little pain at injection site, no big deal).

Luckily, she isn't into April Fool's Day, so I didn't have to worry about pranks (I've never been into it either).

THIS particular trip was because her throat looked so horrible I was worried it was strep and didn't want her to give it to everyone at the college we are visiting tomorrow.  Previous trips in the past 90 days include xrays of her foot (which did end up to be torn ligaments that they didn't catch--dr did 3 weeks after incident) and an exam of her eye to rule out corneal abrasion and broken occipital/orbital bones (none).  As you can see, she loves sports, but is accident prone.  The PA who examined her last night said the quick srep test came back negative, but she gave her the penicillin & steroid injections as a precaution because M looked "streppy" (PA's words) and the fact that we were travelling out of state for a few days.

Thank you for asking about her.  She is feeling much better and is currently taking a nap as she did most of the driving and stayed awake to keep me company when she wasn't driving (she's been up since 2:30 this morning).

Gaming, internet... The usual fare I do on most days.

I'm tired, tired, tired and more tired.

Last night we got paid, and as a treat hubby took me to a gambling casino in Indiana (about 40 miles (64.37376 kilometers)) from my house.
I went in with a hundred and came out with 140ish (and we stayed for about 3 hours) so I did well considering the odds.  Hubby went in with $200 and lost it all in that time, I heard about a second casino about the same distance away, so we decided to go check it out too.  Hubby won back the $200, so we more or less did the whole trip having lost about $20 total.  I consider that a success!  I usually play the penny slots. So it takes awhile to lose anything (but also takes awhile to actually make any money if you are so lucky to do so.)

The car ran excellently so I'm happy about that too.  Although we were having a slight slippage with the transmission, I think if we checked the level of the fluid, that will help.  At least I hope so anyways.  ;D

As for me . . . well . . . I think my landlord has played an April Fool's prank on me as this morning. Somewhere along the line, there must have been a leak in the pipes within the ceiling and water accumulated on top of the plaster. I managed to get out of the kitchen on time before half my ceiling collapsed.  :-\\

I'm going to try to talk to that new girl Tamika when I have the chance and hopefully when I have another Monday off(whenever that'll be),I could ask her if she'd like to go for coffee since her days off are on Mondays too.

Paid bills this morning and in a couple minutes, going to take the hubby to get his hair cut (he debated about just shaving his head to save money  ???  but I'd rather him just get some of it cut not totally shaved.
I'm trying to decide whether I want to get mine cut as well.  It's kinda overgrown, but again, it's kinda expensive, so not sure I wanna shell out  that much.  (No, I'm not going to pull a "britney" and shave mine either.  That's a bit severe.

One of the kids in my carpool horked on my back seat.  I feel bad for the kid, he thought he was in trouble (he is only 7).  What I really want to do is beat his dad to a pulp.  The little boy told his dad he didn't feel good this morning but his dad sent him anyway.  Hello, moron, your other three kids have had the stomache flu recently it stands to reason this kid might get it, too. 

Finally roused myself to post a few ads for an axeman.

We'll see what shakes loose....

The reason for the incident was because of the central heating in the above flat. However, that must have been sorted around the time the landlord was converting bedsits to flats and not before as I had no problems previously.

It was weird because I saw cracks in the ceiling and water leaking and all I thought was 'get out of the kitchen!' Seconds after I left the kitchen, half the ceiling fell down. The landlord was quick to get it sorted (and so he should). The core problem is fixed but the plasterer will not be able to come around until Friday.

One day my luck is going to run out and I will get injured, if not worse, as a result of falling ceilings.  >:(

The reason for the incident was because of the central heating in the above flat. However, that must have been sorted around the time the landlord was converting bedsits to flats and not before as I had no problems previously.

It was weird because I saw cracks in the ceiling and water leaking and all I thought was 'get out of the kitchen!' Seconds after I left the kitchen, half the ceiling fell down. The landlord was quick to get it sorted (and so he should). The core problem is fixed but the plasterer will not be able to come around until Friday.

The ceiling was affected as a result of piping but the pipes in themselves weren't damaged. Somewhere along the line, above my ceiling, water started to leak. The water saturated the insulation between the two floors and finally continued to bear down on the plaster in between. The plaster couldn't hold out much longer and half my ceiling gave way as a result.

Right now I am hungover. Went out on a works do last night and it was great though my mate kept wanting to kiss me . . . I wouldn't mind but he only does that when he's drunk.  ;D

I need to go return the migraine medicine I bought and get the tension headache medicine instead. Or maybe I should wait and see what the doctor says tomorrow. I've been getting some pretty bad headaches lately, usually after I've been exercising or if I happen to sleep wrong. It's weird, and they hurt. I had a really bad one last night, but I took an Aleve and just laid down for a bit and it went away. Weird.

I also need to mail off some birthday cards: one for my cousin who turns 15 on the 12th, and one for my maternal grandmother, who turns 80 (I think) on the 6th. I don't like the woman at all, but I love her because she is my grandmother. I can't really explain it. She did a lot of stuff to our family that I can never forgive her for, but she is still the one who gave birth to my mom, and she must have had SOME redeeming qualities because my grandfather (who was completely awesome) married her. :-\\

That's a difficult one Howard.On the whole you avoid asking out someone who smokes if you hate smoking, but there again do you like her enough to ignore the smoking? Bearing in mind if this goes further, she is a smoker.....................

I would say telling her that her smoking offends you would be the quickest way to get her to tell you to get lost!

I'm glad you got out before you could get hurt, but I'm sorry to hear that your ceiling caved.  Was any of your stuff damaged/broken?  I hope they fixed it properly so you don't have to worry about it again.  You definitely shouldn't have to pay an increase for something that wasn't your fault.  They should have taken care that it wouldn't happen when they made those changes.  I wish you the best of luck!

Ah, you got that, and I have to go to my regular doc to go over my bloodwork from a month ago. I guess I should tell her about the asthma attack last month and the wonky tension headaches I've been getting. :P

I'm whooped, need more sleep.  got the call to pick Julie up from her friends last night at about 4:20am, they was out dancing in San Francisco (again)  :-\\    so I'm going on about 4 hours sleep, running on empty.    working and listening to music at my desk, so maybe a good lunch will pick me up and get me through the day.

Very strange, the ENT said there was nothing wrong with my ears, nothing wrong with my sinuses. I FEEL them-I feel the fluid in my ears, I feel the headaches in my sinuses but he took an x-ray and nothing.  ???  Go figure. The good news is that he said that I'm good to fly.

As for me, glad to be home, but not looking forward to going into the office.  Just once I would like to be on vacation and not get a call about an issue that can't wait.  So, we got home at just before midnight, then I went to the office to take care of something.  I have also been keeping tabs on my e-mail and people are not happy that the online Student Assessment of Instruction didn't go out already (sorry people, I take my direction from Academic Affairs--take it up with them!).  It is going to be a crazy day, I can see the writing on the wall.   8-P  The thing of it is...I want to enjoy the end of my vacation so I don't want to go into the office this weekend to get started on it, even though I know how it's going to be on Monday.  Is that wrong?  I know this sounds really bad, but the fact of the matter (ok, the fact of my opinion) is that they don't pay me enough to give up vacations and weekends to go in and work.  I would be much more likely to do it if I was making 50k or more, but at 32k? I really don't.  Any thoughts?

Talked to my mom on the phone today (let her know we were home).  Found out my dad had another episode yesterday.  The problem is that he wouldn't take his blood pressure and blood sugar levels so without the numbers, we can't say for sure if it was a sugar spike (which is actually in the normal range today) or another TIA (mini stroke).  We know that he had a stroke about 11 yrs ago and they have determined that he had 2 mild heart attacks when they were in FL last year.  The problem is that the symptoms of spikes and TIAs can be similar, so it is important to have the actual numbers to help make the determination.  Wish he would cooperate and that Mom would be more forceful.  She said that he was fine last night.

Yup-when I'm lying with my head on the side-that is when I feel it-and it doesn't matter which side.

That's a difficult one Howard.On the whole you avoid asking out someone who smokes if you hate smoking, but there again do you like her enough to ignore the smoking? Bearing in mind if this goes further, she is a smoker.....................

I would say telling her that her smoking offends you would be the quickest way to get her to tell you to get lost!

No. but many , many, many years back I did kiss a girl who was a smoker and it greatly diminished the experience. I vowed at that time I would not date any smokers... It would be a deal breaker for me...

Just remember, your asking her not to smoke probably won't last more than an hour or 2.  It is an addiction and very few people can just stop.  Everyone is right, though...only you can decide what you can and can't deal with when you are dating.  My ex smoked (which normally is a deal breaker for me, so that tells you something about him right there).  He tried not to smoke when we were around and went out of his way to keep air circulating or smoking under the stove vent especially when M was there, which I thought was pretty sweet considering he was in his own home.  However, I didn't care for kissing him right after he had a cigarette as I could taste the smoke which wasn't appealing.  And if you are somewhere without good ventilation, it will get into your hair and on your clothes.

Give it some thought, but don't think you will get her to quit....everyone has their own motivation for quitting and some are more successful than others.

The snow outside has changed my plans, I was to go and see the Olympic Torch past through Notting Hill, I am staying at home now.

Today I was out driving around just goofing off when I decided to check out some motor scooters.  For some reason I've always kind of liked them and was toying with the notion of buying one (for the fuel mileage especially, they get 80-100 mpg) even though it's not really feasible for me at this particular time.

So I went to the scooter shop and even though I don't have a motorcycle endorsement on my license, the salesman let me ride one around the parking lot for a little bit. And as I was riding around I looked off to my right and saw my reflection in the glass on the side of the building, and I immediately started laughing at how much of a doofus I looked like on that thing.

So the scooter thing is not gonna happen.


Screw it, I'm gonna get a Harley someday.
