Top o' the mornin' to ye, and may the world be filled with good luck and green ale!
Happy St. Patrick's Day, my friends!
For today, I wish to share with you an ancient Irish prayer:
PRAYER OF ST. BRIGID OF KILDARE
I should like the men of heaven in my house,
I should like rivers of peace to flow at their asking.
I should like a great lake of ale for the King of Kings.
I should like the people of Heaven to be drinking it forever and ever.
-Amen-
(dated pre-1014 AD)

I have the movie on VHS. Haven't watched it in a long time-maybe it is time once again. Another good flick to watch is The Quiet Man with John Wayne & Maureen O'Hare (which I also have on VHS).
Wearing the green and you watch the parade
Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day.
March down the avenue flaunted the spring
Lift up your glasses and started to sing
Baileys and cabbage and corn beef galore
Turn up the fiddle and stomp on the floor.
And we'll all get together and have us a time
on St. Patrick's Day in America.
You'll give your liver a kick in the head
Raise up a ruckus to raise the dead.
bring out the fifers and the brings out the drums
Take out your guitar and just startin' to strum
Bring out the dancers and throw them a tune.
Boys, it's over the limit, it's over too soon.
And we'll all get together and have us a time
on St. Patrick's Day in America.
All of the girls have a glow in their cheeks
We'll be hungover for two or three weeks.
We cherish old Erin her customs so quaint
We will drink our pints just to honor that saint.
He drove out the snakes or something like that.
I really not sure why we honor St. Pat.
But we'll all get together and have us a time
on St. Patrick's Day in America.
Yes, we'll all get together and have us a time
on St. Patrick's Day in America.

no idea why I even bothered making custom sets for the holidays when I can't seem to remember to turn them on

How did you manage to nail the Irish accent for the play?
Karaoke to the Irish Rovers song The Unicorn, now that's fun. :)

On the day I was born,
Said my father, said he.
I've an an elegant legacy
Waitin' for ye,
'Tis a rhyme for your lips
And a song for your heart,
To sing it whenever
The world falls apart.
Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow it over the hill
And the stream.
Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.
'Twas a sumptuous
To bequeath to a child.
Oh the lure of that song
Kept her feet funnin' wild.
For you never grow old
And you never stand still,
With whippoorwills singin'
Beyond the next hill.
Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow it over the hill
And the stream.
Look, look
Look to the rainbow.
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow,
Follow the fellow
Who follows a dream.

The Irish Rovers were in the area last week. The funny thing about the song The Unicorn (which I didn't know until the article in the paper about the performance) was written by none other than Shel Silverstein.

no. Well I could, if I wrote something to do it. Probably would be easiest to just mail myself a reminder of the holidays.

I didn't make the Christmas ones, the creator of the smiley set did those. I did the rest inspired by his genius though.
There's a full list of them somewhere in the announcement board. I was going to do more, but haven't had the time really.
on the topic of St. Patrick's Day, I forgot to get a Shamrock Shake again. Totally irritated with myself for that. I did buy the mint extract so I could make my own though. I'll have to clean out the blender tomorrow night and buy some vanilla ice cream.

Actually, the accent was easier than the dancing, for me.
And I have "The Unicorn", on karaoke.
I also have "Wearing Of the Green", "The Mountains Of Mourne", and my favorite- "Who Threw the Overalls In Mistress Murphy's Chowder?".

yes, I do remember the "tis the season" thread from December 2004...as well as a separate thread about the New Years Eve smileys.

Is that a St. Pat's day tradition you've had for a few years?
