Subject: Super Bowl Plans? Commercials? (Not a sports thread)
Written By: Tam on 02/03/08 at 1:21 pm
Hubby and I will be sitting here at home all day, not doing much of anything.
We might BBQ or we might not....
I think he is going to be watching the game while I will be on the puter - he will yell for me when commecials come on!
I can't wait for the commercials!!
Apparently MJ is going to be in one for a vitamin water or something...
And the half time show!! Can't wait for that either.
Yeah, this is kind of a random thread, but I figure if we all made threads that had a point we would be very bored!
Hey, maybe we can even do a "Vote for your favorite commercial" thing on here too??!!
Whateva!
Have fun!

It is on television tonight, but I am not sure if we will be watching.
The coverage is by the BBC who have a no commercial policy.

Well, we've watched a bit of the pre-pre-game show here. I expect we'll watch bits of it. Hadn't realised the commercials wil be the best bit! Really I'm just waiting to watch the new House
Elizabeth is going to a non-sleep-over tonight. She will wear PJs and slippers and they'll do all the usual stuff but they won't actually stop overnight :-\\

WOW!
So you don't get to see any of the commercials that basically pay for the Super Bowl to be on tv??

A non-sleepover huh? Sounds like relief to the parents! LOL
I love the commercials during the super bowl. Some of them are so stupid that you can't help but laugh. And then others are pretty much like mini-movies, serious FX and stuff! I think I might just dvr them so I can watch them over and over again. What can I say? I am a junkie!!! ;D

My favorite Super Bowl commercial was for Bud Light. A woman puts satin sheets on the bed,
calls for her lover, he ignores her calls until she says, "I have Bud Light." He then run to her,
stripping to his boxers jumps in the bed and slides out the window.
It's number three in this top ten:

So far the only one I liked wasn't really a commercial. It was for FOX's football coverage when the
stupid FOX robot got his a$$ kicked by the Terminator.
Don't waste your time with godaddy.com, that commercial is hardly worth the effort. :P

I hate Pepsi, but that commercial was frickin' hysterical. The Toyota commercial with the badgers also got a chuckle. :D

the commercials have been really lame this year. I think the reason is everyone is expecting the greatness
of the commercials from past years that the writers and producers are overthinking it. They are trying too
hard. Relax, go back to the basics and make them funny.

You can go see all the commercials from the game.
High traffic though so the vids might skip or be slow....

this is the first year in about 5 years that we did not host a SuperBowl party and that was fine. Julie went over to her friends house and Lady Di & watched the 1st half of the game together and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers halftime show, and then she took a nap and I watched by myself. Maybe next year the party will be on again, but we had to take Jule's back to school this evening so our evening was planned around that. I did buy a small bucket of hot wings and enjoyed them

The BBC did show it live last night, and there may be highlights sometime today.

ususally we have a big spread because of all the people, but since we had no guests, we did not prepare any food for the occasion. I bought some fried chicken wings, and we had just had a wonderful big meal at our favorite Chinese restaurant. but the normal superbowl tablefare includes hot dogs, sausages, bbq, guacamole and other dips, chicken wings, sandwiches, meatballs, etc. etc...

We were invited to a Super Bowl party...it ended up being lots of fun. The commercials weren't the greatest this year, however, I DID like the one where the guy was lighting everything on fire everytime he sneezed. Hahaha! ;D

It is the same for us with the FA Cup Final (or other big sporting events). It is the commercials you watch out for not the main game.
