Kin told me to respond here, so I shall. Frankly I've been awake for more hours than I care to count. Any more and I'll start speaking in tongues. On the plus side, I've worked on two Wikipedia articles all morning, but neither of them are anywhere near being finished, so who knows...

So confusing for me to read the word when it is meant in the American sense of 'angry' 9sort of).  I think I would tend then to say pissed off about...

Feel like I'm in a pressure cooker.....

I'm tired of waiting.
It seems like everything is about waiting.....

Waiting for Tax Refunds.
Waiting for Melissa's job interview.
Waiting for them to accept her for the position.
Waiting for Mom's stuff to finish up, so she can get on with things.
Waiting for the chance to get the hell outta here.
Waiting for my bandmates to catch up with me, so we'll be ready for our 2 gigs, this month.

I've been stressed enough the past 3 days to wonder how I have any hair left on my body.

It has rained non-stop today, so far.  I had a lovely breakfast with my friends and then knitting and chatting over more cup of tea and cookies.

When the children get in from school we are heading across to Toys R Us to pick up some birthday presents for this weekend.  Elizabeth is going to a party on Saturday and another one on Sunday!  Also need to swap one of James's presents.  Someone bought him some Duplo so we are going to swap it for some Lego Mars Mission I think.

I spent from 3:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. last night in the ER.  :(  We had gone out to get something to eat when my hubby's paycheck was automatically deposited last night at midnight (well didn't get out out until 1:30, but I digress).  Then we went to Wal-Mart (which is open 24-hours) to stock up on some water and things because we were supposed to get lots of snow on top of the ice we already had.  The plan was to just stay in and hibernate this weekend.  I got so dizzy at Wally-Mart twice that I just had to sit down on the floor.  My head was spinning.  It calmed down after I sat for awhile.  The employees at the store (and naturally my hubby) were really concerned.  My hubby insisted we go to the emergency room (which was only two blocks away) in case I was having a heart attack.  They did two EKGs on me and X-rays and an I.V., but didn't find anything wrong with me.  They just decided I was dehydrated.  Even my sugar was good.  We came home and slept some then went out to eat with my hubby's friend at Qdoba Mexican grill.  It was tasty (and pretty cheap and fast for being a packed Friday night at the mall).  I came home and slept some more and now I'm awake.  And those are the thrilling tales of bookmistress4ever.  ;D

As for me- found out tonight that one of our neighbors' children is basically having seizures from which they're not recovering. The baby is not expected to live to see another day.

As for us, we WERE supposed to go to a public hearing on same-sex marriage. They asked Carlos to speak at it. The roads are really nasty even though the storm has moved out. I don't think we are going. I am sorry we aren't going to be able to go. I was looking forward to it.

I was hoping that they would postpone it but we haven't heard anything about it yet. We did email them but there may not be anyone around to get the email today. If they do have it, I'm sure there won't be too many people there because of the roads-which is a shame. It is an issue that both of us feel is worth pursuing. Yeah, I'm going to get a little political here. I don't understand how two men or two women getting married will have any effect on my marriage to Carlos? That argument never made any sense to me.

Ok, back to topic.

Since this seems to be an ongoing complaint in your posts perhaps you should mention to your supervisor that the store needs more carts.

I hate our car. It always picks the most wonderful times to f**k up on us. We came out of PetSmart today to find that the battery was dead. We (or rather, my inlaws, because they are helping us this month) are now out $150 because a new battery had to be bought and we got an extra warranty on it.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER buying a f**king VW again. EVER.

I told you I hate February. :P

A friend of mine and I took the short ones to the Hannah Montana 3D concert/movie today.  They had a separate party going on that the kids went to as well.  The DJ said everyone who came down to dance got a poster.  Well, our girls went down and they never got one.  My friend went down to see if she could get one for them and the guy blew her off.  If you aren't going to give every kid a poster, don't say you will.  They made my kid cry and that made me a mad mommy.    >:(

Luckily, there was a radio station table with a spinning wheel and they gave the girls each a poster.  Still, don't make my baby cry, not cool.

I wish I had been home to log on before you left (as I am sure you have by now).  A member of the Ducks was a star at the university where I work---Chris Kunitz.  He scored in the last game of the Cup, I believe.  It was a really big deal here because every player got the Stanley Cup for 24 hrs and he used part of his to bring it back to Ferris before taking it home to Saskatchewan.  Crowds starting lining up at the hockey rink the night before.   :)

As for me, pretty good weekend, so far.  Got a lot done Friday night, went to a baby shower this evening, and have Micah's Superbowl party tomorrow.  I got the eggs boiled and in the fridge to devil them tomorrow, got cucumbers and green peppers cut up, so tomorrow just have to finish the eggs, get the meatballs going in one crockpot, get the lil smokies going in her football crockpot and make the beef dip she likes.  I was bad (eating) at the shower today, so I can't be as bad as I was going to be tomorrow.  I might still work out tonight before bed, but I will definitely do it tomorrow before we have to start getting stuff ready.   :)  I've lost almost 8 pounds since Jan 11.

I hear ya Dagwood, I would have been pissed too.  don't promise the kids something and then not come through without a really really good excuse, and then their beating will only be less severe.  glad to hear the other radio station came through for the kids.  Hannah Montana hysteria, it's crazy  :D

...today was an excellent day, a long day, a busy day, a really fun day & now we're home, relaxing from all the events.  I had to get up & be at our church at 9am to setup the rooms for the little ones. at noon about 100 of us piled into 2 school buses & went to UC Berkeley to watch the California Golden Bears women's basketball team play USC Trojans. The Bears won in overtime. it was awesome. I was yelling at the cheater referee to call the game fairly, & yelled "that's a horrible call ref" so loud Diane looked at me kinda scared like I was going crazy, but he was just pissing me off as he was only calling fouls on the Bears, & not the Trojans. after the game, we got to go hang out with the coach & one of her players. They spoke to our group & shared of their faith. next was pizza. Then buses took us back to church & they needed help setting up the musicians stage area so Diane & me got to be roadies for an hour, & then we went over to catch the tail end of a graduation party for a friend that just finished Police Academy. Starting Monday he will be a new San Francisco police officer. They had some kickass BBQ chicken & beef brisket from the best local bbq joint around.      that's about it.  8)

Tonight made me realize just why I hate drunk rednecks.

My Karaoke session went OK, until the granddaddy of all bar brawls erupted.
The only places something DIDN'T happen was behind the bar, and the back room.

I was busy trying to protect my equipment, shepherding innocents away from the brawl when it spilled into my area, and helping spearate a 12-or-13 person dogpile, because the bouncer couldn't do it alone.

What a damn mess.....

I nearly got a speaker damaged, and someone stepped on my foot.
Knowing the delicacies of my feet- that rather has me bothered.

I'll assess the damage in the morning.

Yesterday Elizabeth went to a friends house for a party.  She came home quite upset because she felt left out of things some of the time.  Also when the other girls were joking around they made Elizabeth feel bad when she joined in - implying that she was being rude for saying similar stuff to what they were.  She felt like she was butting in and wasn't really wanted.

She started crying at bedtime saying she wanted to go back to England.

Believe it or not, this happens to boys, too.
Having been the butt of all the jokes in school, I can relate.
Tell her to hang in there. It too shall pass.

How old is your daughter?  She may just have to play through the pain, so to speak...I came to America speaking poor English as well, and what English I spoke was with a British accent.  I eventually went to California Standard English and then I was fine after that, but I never remembered kids being THAT cruel...I was like 7 then.

She probably doesn't have to change her accent or anything, but all it really takes is one good friend and then she'll be fine.  I'd encourage her to keep trying to connect so she can find that one good friend, and more doors will open for her.

Well spoken! Karma for such words of wisdom.

UP-DATE:

Just IMed with one of my sisters. She said that my grandmother is aware of what is happening and she is not happy about it-and she doesn't know if that means Grandma is going to fight or give up.  :\'( :\'( :\'( Another sister gave Grandma her permission to let go.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  Both sisters and my cousin are taking shifts to be with her so at least she isn't alone.

Yesterday I was watching an episode of Extreme Makeover: the Home Edition. The team were helping out the Brown family of Colchester, CT. and I was thinking "Colchester...I'm sure I've heard somebody mentioning visiting Colchester recently..."

I couldn't remember it then, but now I know it was Karen. Glastonbury is just around the corner...

Funny how there always seems to be a connection with this board and its members.

BTW: according to our Frappr account, Karen is still residing in UK.

That episode made me cry when they put a pic up at the end saying she died.  So sad.

I think we're talking different episodes here...but I think I know which one you mean: the Byers family.

So Boey died?! Oh God...I totally missed that.  :\'( That's really, really sad.

I only watched 1 episode of that show-that was the one that took place in Vermont. They kept having articles about it in the local paper as it was happening and asked if anyone wanted to help. And the turn out was INCREDIBLE!!! I can't remember how many people they said showed up to help out.

I made a little error there...The Brown family are from Bridgeport, CT. I know they mentioned Colchester in the episode though...can't remember in what context. :-\\

They always have huge crowds of people showing up and helping out...it's amazing! Kinda restores your faith in the human race.

When was that episode aired? I'm not sure if it's been shown here already, or if it's still to come.
