the non-silly posts may bubble up out of the silly ones. it's hard to tap the zeitgeist like that. i think the best bet is to encourage thread creation (within reason) and then interesting things may result.

to be honest, I usually can't see most of your posts because my work filter blocks free image hosting services... so I usually just see a ton of white space and red x's.

You bet ! But no .... they totally lose their impact without them. I see the pics ... then get inspired by them / maybe concoct stories around them.  How could anyone get excited about /enthusiastic about / follow the posts without the pics ?  ???
