I've never contributed much towards these threads, but hey - it's a new year... ;) Let me start this one by saying:

just got back from an awesome New Year Party. We had a blast & the live band kicked ass!  Lady Di & me danced more than I had planned to. that girl is repressed because she didn't want to stop  :o  anyways, we had fun at the dinner dance & are now home safe & sound while Julie is still out at a party, but at least it's her friend that lives in our neighborhood.
the goofy band leader dedicated a song to me, said it was Mike's favorite (I had no clue) & the joker plays Whip It   by Devo. so they got me & Diane out on the floor alone doing a little spotlight dance & I was pretending to use a whip on her. it was funny. I wish I would have known they were gonna do that so I could have brought a whip. they played all kinds of music and the last song was Free Bird with superb guitar solos. It reminded me of the old Day On The Green concerts back in the 70's

Had a pretty good night last night with my old friend.I brought back some snacks with dip and M & M's to snack on.We played video games and watched TV to see the ball drop.Then as we were about to call people to wish them a Happy New Year,phones weren't working at all especially our cell phones too.Must've been from too many people calling at the same time but later I called back at around 1230am and that was basically my night.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!!

May this year be a hell of a lot better than the last.

The party we went to was GREAT!!! Our host & hostess really put on quite a spread (and I think she did most of the cooking herself). They had turkey, ham, pork, meatballs, lasagna, and probably other stuff that I missed. And the deserts...oh man. (I know she didn't do all the deserts herself-there is a bakery that she got them from). The was a rum cake that was to die for. I ate so much it was unreal. They did have shrimp that we all know that Carlos loves. (Both of us ate a lot of that.) Of course there was plenty of wine (these people have a wine cellar-no joke). They turned on some music and a few people started to dance. We were hoping for a waltz but they couldn't find one. Oh well. Next year, we have to remember to bring a waltz for ourselves.  ;) After we toasted the new year, most people went out on the porch and fired up cigars and drank brandy. We found out that was a tradition. We didn't stay last year because it was just starting to rain about midnight (freezing rain) so we headed home early. Last night, the weather behaved so we stayed until 1:30 or so. I actually didn't drink too much. Had about 2 glasses of wine & then a glass of Asti at midnight.  When we left, they had almost a full bottle of Asti that they gave us to take home. I am now using it in mimosa.  ;)  On the way home, we noticed that a cop pulled up behind us on the highway. It made me a bit nervous. Carlos was saying that he wasn't doing anything wrong-which was true. It just made me nervous. But then the cop got off the highway before we did.

Last year was a great year for me...I went through Confirmation (it's a religious event; a sacrament); I got my drivers license; and I finished my certificate for computer programming!!


Now, it's time to start a new year.

Last night was great,dancing and partying and best of all...no hangover today,'cause i only had half glass of champagne...

I'm really excited about 2008,the bad seems to be gone and i have a lot of good to look forward :)

I had a lovely, if uneventful, New Year's Eve.  Micah went to Amanda's house, so I was home alone.  I only drank half a beer, so no hang over this morning.  I'm glad all who traveled out for parties made it home safely and seem to have had a great time.  :)

I am so sleepy. I guess it mainly stems from not sleeping too well last night this morning. Went to bed at 3 a.m. and got out of bed about 10-and kept waking up several times. Two glasses of mimosa doesn't help either.  ;) Carlos already took a nap. I'm about to.

Had a pretty good night last night.

NYE is always amatuers night so I just went to a party instead of going out. Quiet by my standards, far as I know I didn't disgrace myself at all.. woke up at about 7 this morning and left quietly.

Tomorrow is going to suck, I'm going to drive down to Peterborough and renew my British passport whilst I'm over here.  :P So, that'll be £100 as well as sitting in a dull office for 5 hours.

Then, when I get back to the U.S I've got to renew that passport as well, so.. $300 on passports in the space of a month.  ;D Good thing they last so long though eh.

Working today. Everyone was up all night, so they're all basically dead today. That's alright, though, it's a very quiet day so far. Tomorrow, I'm off, which excites me. Justin and I are going to put applications in at a few places. We both want to get out of our jobs. In other news, my bird friggin' hates me.

Feeling sick today....have sinus and lower back problems.

Last night was different from the usual mayhem.
Kinda nice, but those tightwads only tipped me a buck.......-grrrrrrrrrrrrg-

  I bet it that would be nicer than First Night in Boston.  There is something about 1,000,000 people in downtown Boston on a cold night in winter without adequate "facilities" that always makes me wonder why anyone would want to  ;D

I stayed home on New Year's Eve, and watched local coverage of the celebration on TV at home.

Today it's back to business as usual... meaning: back to the office for me. 8-P I hate getting up this early.

Ah well, it's not all that bad: we start with a celebrational collective breakfast at 8:00 AM. Work doesn't start until 9:00 AM.

It's a public holiday today, but due to there only being 2 days left of the week, most things open up on Monday 7. So basically, not much going on, justv enjoying the sunshine, drinking beer, and not caring about a thing. I f***ing love summer!  8)

Urgh back to work today, it's 7.20 am and I haven't been up this early over the whole holidays.  :P

I don't want to go back to work :\'( Mind you it's only for half a day today so I'm going to take down the rest of the decorations this afternoon.

  I get up, get dressed, lurk here a little and head to work.  I clock-in, head to my office and get changed.  I walk around the whole building and encounter not one living soul, only wayward cockroaches.  The offices are locked and the lights are out.  The lab is locked.  The locker room is empty.  The parking lot is empty (that should've told me something right there...)

  Found out from security I'm layed-off.  I didn't have to go in...

Today I ran some errands, will do some more later.  Just trying to psych myself up to go back to work.  Like others have mentioned, it will be difficult having to get up at 6:15 again.  I think that to ease into it (since Micah doesn't go back to school til Monday), I will sleep in til 6:45.  :)

Today the most bizarre thing happened.

I was sending a few e-mails back and forward to a co-worker of mine, who is from New Mexico. When she moved away she didn't know many people and we got on pretty well so she's always keeping up with me.. which is fine..

Anyway she was asking about where I'm staying and if I'm enjoying my vacation, we got to discussing a few things and she mentioned that a friend of hers from back in New Mexico used to live right near where my Ma and Dad do.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I went to high school with her and we were always good friends and then I moved away and so did she.

Small world huh.

I may have to schedule an appointment with the podiatrist.It seems one of my big toenails,the toenail is very loose and looks like it's about to come right off the cuticle,It's also yellow and gunky,could be from fungus.I don't know whether it was from all the cart collecting at Pathmark or I must've banged my toe.But we'll see what he can do.Maybe wrap it or just cut the whole thing off which I'm afraid of looking at bare flesh.I have Medicare which is good so hopefully he'll do a good job.

Check the surrounding cuticle and tissue areas.
If there is a yellowish tinge to it, it very likely is infected.

I think it was about a month or so ago,when I was backing up a couple of carts,one of them ran over my toe and then it became all black and blue then later on it started to heal itself.Like my Mother said,treat your feet like gold and always take care of it,wear good shoes and socks and protect it always.

we met a guy with a dog that looks exactly like mine...he said it was a British Retriver.  That dog was also named Bode and for the same reason!  We found her twin- what a coincidence!

I want another dog badly.

We got home yesterday afternoon after a fairly hectic two weeks in the UK.

We flew from Boston, Mass to London Heathrow overnight of 19th/20th December.  A taxi drove us from the airport to my parents house.  We had a quick breakfast there and then drove to the hotel (a hire car had been dropped off at my parents house for us).  At the hotel we discovered that we were one suitcase short.  We had only brought four cases with us from the US instead of the five we had packed!  We did a quick check of what we had left behind and whizzed around a shop picking up the essentials.  Turns out we had left the case packed with my tops and practically all of Dai's clothes.

In the afternoon we called around to see friends of ours.  We have known them from when Elizabeth and Matthew (their eldest) started at nursery together in 1999.  Coincidentally their second child was at nursery and school with James.

On Friday we whizzed up to another shop so Dai could replace the sports kit he hadn't brought (I swear it was a ploy to get yet more kit from this particular shop!)  I also bought some new pyjamas.  Then it was round to some more friends (one of Elizabeths best friends from school) for the afternoon. 

Quick trip back to the hotel to shower and change and then to a nice pub for a meal with my family.  My mum, dad, two brothers and their wives and children came making 14 altogether.  It was nice to catch up with everyone.  My eldest brother moved house at the end of November so we heard a little about that.  My eldest niece has changed schools over the summer.  She didn't do as well with her exams as she had hoped so she searched for a school that does well at the subjects she is interested in.  It means a bus ride rather than a short walk but she is enjoying it on the whole which is the main thing.  We were also honoured with the prescence of my nephew who, at 18, doesn't go to many family things any more!

Our body clocks were still not quite on UK time which the children kept going well after their usual bedtime.

Saturday we went into town for lunch.  Then we visited our next door neighbours briefly, then up to a friends house for a quick catch up, then onto some other friends for dinner. 

All of the friends we visited have children that our two are friends with so they went off to play whilst we could catch up with the parents which worked out really well.

On Sunday we went to see my brothers new house.  Its a nice house but I was slightly surprised that they had bought it.  It's quite a bit smaller than their old place and has less downstairs rooms than they had previously so it feels a little cramped.  :-\\

In the afternoon we drove down to Dai's mums in South Wales.  We stayed with her over Chirstmas until the following Saturday.  We had a much quieter time at her place!  Apart from the usual huge Chirstmas feast Dai managed to do the traditional run along the sea front on Boxing Day and we went to see the pantomime (Sleeping Beauty this year, with Timmy Mallet who I expected to hate but actually enjoyed).

On Saturday 29th we drove up to North Wales to meet up with another crowd of friends for New Year.  We stayed in Pen y Pass youth hostel at the end of the Miners Track up Snowdon.  We walked up to Lyn Llydaw on Sunday (just us and the children) and had a look at the ruins up there and walked up the slate mine inclines and across to Dolbadarn castle on Monday with our friends and their four children.

On Monday evening we had a huge dinner, sang carols, played games and then sung Auld Lang Syne to greet the new year.  The next morning there was the annual race up the track to the lake, around the lake and back.  I marshalled the road crossing, which was a little chilly but there was no snow this year thankfully!

After lunch we drove down to London to stay in a hotel near the airport.  We flew out around 11 a.m. on January 2nd.

Now we need to get our bodies reset to US time (we never did completely reset in the UK!)

We did have a great time.  We stayed near you as well at Fosse Park.

We didn't try Snowdon - it was too murky and I don't think the children would do it.  James in particular was moaning about walking up to the lake and back!

No, it's nowhere near finished, but it's going to be huge. I guess summer 2009 or something? I dunno, a large percentage of it is still in the girder stage.

Stayed home from work today because I felt like crap when I woke up. My eyes hurt, my teeth hurt, my head hurt. Must be a sinus thing. Anyways, starting to feel better already. I need to get some stuff done around here. Since we moved here in October, there are still boxes I put in the basement so I wouldn't have crap laying all over the place. Now I have to go through them and decide what I want to keep and decorate with and what I want to get rid of. I want to get some new stuff for the walls and kinda change the decorating scheme I've been using.  I'm waiting for IKEA to open up in Cincy since I got one of their catalogs and it looks like they've got some pretty neat stuff. Anyone ever shop there and what did you think?

Yea I was looking online and most of their stuff you can't buy online. You have to go the the store. And I guess you have to put the stuff together yourself? I guess that's what makes it so inexpensive. They have some really funky looking lamps and stuff that I really want to check out.

It's more or less all flat pack furniture.  At one time they used to provide most of the tools you needed as well.  Now they give you the Allen key (hex head) and you might need a screw driver.  I find their instructions really easy to follow though and have never had a problem with working out how something fits together.  Maybe I've done too many of them!  If you need advice I expect I could help out.

IKEA itself is fun to shop in. They have everything laid out in appealing ways and you can get some pretty good ideas from those layouts. The quality of their furniture is really good as well, and I'm planning on buying a new kitchen table from there once we get our tax return. And they have really reasonable prices. :)

They're saying Spring '08, so April or May I'm assuming.

Well, I wouldn't say it was totally the deciding factor but I'm pleased we have an IKEA within about 40 mins drive of here!  Maybe they will eventually stock the mising fixings for the sofa we shipped over.  Its a shame I have to keep driving over there to check.  ;)

We may not get the tile we looked at today-we made go in a different direction-slate. Why slate? Because it is "made" right here in town. We have a slate roof, so why not a slate floor, too.  :D ;D ;D

I don't think it gets slippery. Our little town has slate sidewalks and they don't get slippery when it rains. Now marble (another thing my little state has in abundance) does-which is why we decided NOT to go with that-even though it is pretty.

The new year has only just started and there is lots to talk about!

This Thursday was Tamara's last day working at my gym as a personal trainer because she felt that she could no longer work there due to the loss of one of her fellow colleagues last year. I gave her a 'Thank You' card and some bath pearls with a keyring that I'd originally received for Christmas. I was given two of those keyring and bath pearl sets; one from my mum and the other from my sister. The good news about Tamara is that she's going to the gym as a member now so I can see her as a friend more.

I was really shattered over the past couple of days because not only did I go to the gym on Thrsday but I hardly ate a thing. I was also too tired to do my food shop. Maybe I was over optimistic about it all.

I don't think it gets slippery. Our little town has slate sidewalks and they don't get slippery when it rains. Now marble (another thing my little state has in abundance) does-which is why we decided NOT to go with that-even though it is pretty.

I'm another of those people with a cold BTW. :( Mine seems to be subsiding, though.

I was out all day yesterday, with my sister and brother. Had to get up early to pick my father up in Doorn, in the center of our country (that's about 145 km). He had been on holiday for a week there. We were supposed to pick him up before 10:00, but because we didn't leave Den Helder until 8:20, we arrived in Doorn at about 10:15. We drank some coffee and then the four of us continued our journey to Tilligte. That's a small village in the eastern province of Overijssel, a drive of another 150 km. We went there to check out a possible holiday cottage. On our way, we had lunch (that we had provided ourselves), and we took a detour, so the drive took us a little longer than expected. We arrived in Tilligte at about 13:20. The cottage turned out to be OK (yay!! :D) and we've booked it for a two week period in August (according to our almanac the weather will be fine then - fingers crossed!). We had some more coffee (and cake) with the owners, and then we headed for home (a 220 km drive). By then it was about 14:30, I suppose.
We didn't get very far, though, 'cause the windscreen wiper broke...and it was raining.  :( So I had to pull over and check this thing out. Turned out I couldn't fix it. Well, I don't know about US, but on Saturdays it's bloody impossible to find a garage WITH a mechanic over here. So we drove around for some time, and eventually I decided to call for assistance by the ANWB (that's AAA for you guys in US). By then it was 16:30 already, and it was getting dark. Well, luckily I had stopped at a McDonald's restaurant, so we wouldn't be starving.
And luckily the ANWB man arrived after only 30 minutes. He fixed the wiper (took him three tries, though...) and at 17:32 we were on our way once again. This time, there were no surprises anymore. We stopped for dinner in Meppel and at about 20:45 we were finally home...

With the detours and all, I drove 570 km yesterday. That's not my average day (average = 22 km). But hey - we've had no accidents, and the holiday cottage was worth the drive. 8)

I washed the curtains and the windows that the curtains are on. (We mostly have mini blinds on the majority of our windows).

Oh yeah, headache is gone-for now anyway.  :-\\ Thanks for all your well wishes.

daughters friend talking me through other steps, I don't know if it worked yet, we'll see.

Which makes me think, what do these a$$h***s have to gain by creating these viruses? What joy can be
gotten by making innocent people spend millions of dollars to rid their systems of these vile creations made
by insipid, spoiled little dipwads with no life and nothing better to do?

Update: 7:30pm, I don't know how long I'll be on, it seems I am still battling the virus. I refuse to let it beat me.

Anyway, it is a nice day so we are going to take a ride up to Plum Island and maybe Rockport.

Oh, gas stations are open alright (7 days a week)...but most of them are self service nowadays.

The windmill is almost literally just around the corner...I do agree, it's an added bonus.

I am computer stupid so I'm trying to rid the computer of this vile creature on a wing and a prayer. If worse comes to

Apparently a man with a gun was spotted on campus at about 615 this morning and they said the school had sent out text messages to the students telling them to check their email and it would tell them what was going on. She just got her text message at 530 this evening.  She had already been to class and home, of course she found out from students at school what was going on, but it seems that their system of alerting students of problems is a little f'ed up. Pretty scary for the parents to think of something like this going on, but unfortunately it's happening more and more these days.

Maybe they're trying to get rid of me? I don't know. All I know is that I put my application in another place today. Hopefully I'll get a call back =/. I'm just tired of being the only one to have to work all of the holidays, and most of the overnights. It wouldn't be so bad if the work was spread amongst us all.

Also need to cook a turkey today.  I was going to cook it on Sunday but the damn thing wasn't defrosted.  It still had huge ice crystals in it yesterday.  Still, third time lucky!

2. I'm too impatient to let it grow out.

Oh, it does. I've had super long hair before, but I cut it off for a special purpose. Now when I try and grow it long, it just looks dull and stringy. When it's short, it looks healthier, especially now that I use that shampoo with stout and balsamic vinegar in it. :P

after dinner I played poker on the computer, taking turns using both Texas Hold Em games I got for Christmas. I'm practicing  & gearing up for a real tournament me and some friends entered this coming Sunday at the Kensington Circus Pub. after playing on the computer, I went to work on the volcanic size mountain of clothes in my bedroom and now the shirts are hanging in my closet, everything else is put into drawers. then I moved my stereo back where it was now that our Christmas tree is gone. and then I rocked out for about an hour. now here hanging out & posting for a bit until it's time to say Goodnight Dick

My hair won't grow any longer than about shoulder length now and goes all thin a wispy, it looks a right mess.Too much abuse in the 80's and 90's including a perm that went wrong and burned the hair out of my head :o

this week i'm a little freaked out about my job; of course, when you're new, things sometimes get better before they get worse. I love the position, but there were a few things about the place that had me worried.  THEN I find out my new boss hates his job and is quitting.  Now a few things are going on in my section that i have to fix; it's not a great way to start the year.

It will get better, but I'm down in the dumps over it.

Well, the demon child horked yesterday, so I'm wondering if he had some sort of bug that he passed on to me, hence the tummy ache. I haven't really eaten much today because I feel so bleh. The headache stems from a confrontation I had earlier. I'm not sure how I gashed my foot, but if I step on it wrong, it hurts like hell. And for some reason, I just couldn't get comfortable last night, so I think I slept maybe an hour at most.

I flipped the mattress and washed the sheets and blankets today though. Hopefully that helps with the insomnia. :)

Today is cause for celebration of some sort.

The ass who sold us the Blazer tried to sue us for $2300, claiming we never paid him, and so forth.
Well, he put Melissa's name on the "Defendant" slot (leaving me out entirely).

I was up over half the night putting together her side of the case.

She goes to Court this morning; I couldn't go, as I had to get Teela off to school.
She wakes me up when she gets back (I am catching up on sleep), and tells me how she "steamrolled" over him.
According to her, the Judge admonished him, saying that "ignorance of the Law is no excuse".
He also said something about researching the CA Vehicle Codes Melissa quoted to him. (This was supplied to us by an acquaintance who works in the Legal Division of the CA. DMV)

Therefore, one of 2 things could happen:
1. We could have to give the Blazer back, and the peckermelon will have to pay us ALL out-of-pocket expenses (around $2500).
2. We could get to keep the Blazer, AND get reimbursed for all out-of-pocket expenses.

I see this as a reason to party.

me too, I had a burger for breakfast. a turkey burger with bacon on toast, and wait, I had another one for lunch.

...I didn't do anything today except eat, took a nap, watched tv, played poker on the computer. I loaded the dishwasher and turned it on all by myself.  :)  nothing else, just lazy relax and rest, tomorrow at noon, me and 3 friends are entered into a real poker tournament to try to win money. it's a fundraiser for my friends daughters soccer team so that takes the pressure off if I don't win, but I'm gonna try to win the $350 1st place money. it costs $60 to enter.

Just sorted out a load of books for charity and then sorted out some problems on Ebay, damn buyers changing their minds  >:(

I'm going to go and clean the bathroom in a minute and then I plan to sit and watch t.v all day!

Utter chaos today at Pathmark,Wow,could hardly get a row of carts in.people to the left of me,to the right of me,It was just unbelieveable.It was like "mice on cheese"or mice on Prozac.I guess they were so concerned about the snowstorm that they did the shopping now while it was still nice out until tomorrow when it might be bad.

I am in total shock! Carlos called the clinic at the hospital where he has an appointment tomorrow (up in Burlington) to cancel because we are expecting bad weather and it is at least an hour and half drive in GOOD weather.  Expecting to leave a message on a machine, to our surprise he actually talked to a REAL HUMAN BEING!!! On a Sunday night to boot and no "hit 1 for... or hit 2 for...".  :o :o :o

well today I went to church, then split outta there in a hurry to go to a poker tournament. what a hypocrite  ;D  anyways, it was awesome and I took pics and if they come out I'll post some. 50 players at 5 tables, 10 to a table. I ended up about 20th place, which means I sucked, or at least the cards I tried to play sucked the big one.  my friend took 6th place. It cost $60 to enter. 1st place got $700 bucks  :o  it was at a pub, and they had lots of free food and beer for the players. came home, and lit a fire in the fireplace which Julie is enjoying right now while watching Gilmore Girls. I just noticed there are 30 DVDs in the box set of all 7  seasons. her andDiane are on season 5.  so now I'm here for a bit.

Property Management company has an opening in Chico that would not only boost her pay, but it would give us a 3 bdrm., 2 bthrm. apartment.

Well...aside from being online a lot today, I did manage to do some things around the house. I did some laundry, walked the dog, and helped prepare dinner. I also cleaned up the kitchen. And now I'm back here again.

I LOVE it!

Children were off school yesterday because of the snow.  We made a brilliant snowman.  Today I think they are in school, the website says not but the information line says the school is open so we'll see.  I need to go shopping and also plan to make the toboggan run a little better.

Glad I finished all the shoveling yesterday, it has all turned hard as ice after an overnight freeze.

We got at least 6 inches of snow.  It is good snow for snowball fights and making snowmen.  Last time it was too powdery.

Today is my husband and my 5th wedding anniversary.  We don't have anything planned per se, as money is tight.  Perhaps after payday, we can go out to eat or maybe do the casino or something.  I'm not sure when I got so old that I just don't have the energy to do much in the way of celebrating/partying anymore.  We are talking about taking a trip out West, at least a little ways, possibly to the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  My husband doesn't like to fly, so I will be doing the driving, if it gets any further then the planning stage.    I looked into Greyhound bus tickets which are very reasonable, but what do we do when we get there?  I guess I can rent a car, but have never done so THAT far from home.  I doubt it would be THAT much different, huh?  lol  I tend to worry about mineuet details and get lost in them.

We went to the chiropractor and then ran some errands. When we got home, there was a message from my massage therapist. He can come in an hour-something he hasn't done in YEARS!!! YAY!! I am in dire need.

We're always talking about going there as well. If you can make it as far as Chicago, we could jointly rent a bigger car (our VW is dinky and there is an Enterprise....right around the corner :D) and head to the mall. Rice and I would drive.

And the dentist visit went well...I was only there for an hour. However, the left side of my mouth feels in pain, which is to be expected after having fillings put in. I was advised not to eat any hard foods until tomorrow afternoon.

earlier this evening I checked my voice mail messages.  Didn't realise I had one from last week and one from yesterday.  Last weeks was reminding me about me dental appointment, yesterdays was telling me to bring the chidlren to the dentist today.  Oops!  for some reason I thought our appointments were in February.  Now I really need to call the office tomorrow and apologise!

Today I removed the old dishwasher and installed the new one, ripped up the old kitchen floor and did a butt-load of laundry. I hadn't planned on removing the kitchen floor, but when I slid out the old dishwasher it shattered about 6 square feet of the linoleum - not much choice at that point lol.

Well I hope mine last as long as I do. I always make an effort to brush my teeth thoroughly every day, and floss too...but I can't always tackle every surface...especially in the back. I think I inherited my dad's teeth; he had some fillings put in when he was a kid...whereas my mom's teeth are strong.

It's not the floor floor, just the (plastic-ish?) covering that is linoleum. It took all of 5 minutes to remove: unfortunately, what is underneath is some seriously fugly 12"x12" tile floor that is glued to the sub-floor (the wood) that also has to eventually come out.

I do need to remove the entire floor in one of our bathrooms though - I'm so not looking foward to that!

Demolition never makes me nervous - it's the reconstruction part that usually goes wrong and costs major $$$. Think of it this way:

Demolition: Hammer, chisels, 9 lb sledgehammer, maybe a sawzall. Cost: 100$ + labor (note that you can often get people to demolish things for free: it's great stress relief!)

Reconstruction: Numerous materials and tools and tons of time. Cost: ???+++

it smells so good, I have boneless chicken thighs, pounded flat and marinatedall night in teriyaki & soy sauce and am cooking it in my heavy fry pan with just a bit of olive oil, it's smelling real good and the taste is most excellent. now all I need is a bowl of rice

I'm glad the snowstorm we were supposed to have moved out to sea and was trapped in Boston where they got clocked with the 8 inches instead of us.Who knows when NYC will have another storm prediction but I'm guessing in late February.Right Now,it's going to be very cold,the high for the weekend it'll be 25-30 degrees. :o

Last night spent a couple hrs in ER, thought Micah had broken her finger.  She didn't, just injured some nerves, so same old story, Motrin & Tylenol.  With as much as she already takes, I should get stock in both!  Talked with ER doc about his opinions re: M's diagnosis from rheumatologist.  Said I was thinking of getting 2nd opinion.  He said that was probably a good idea.  I'm more serious about it now because this morning she literally couldn't get out of bed.  I had to lift her out (no easy feat) and actually dress her.  She was bawling in pain the whole time (not typical).  Gonna call the dr. & see if he can recommend anything besides tylenol & motrin--I'm worried about her kidneys & liver with the amt she is taking so often.

Well, it looks like we have a person to do the work in our bathroom. The first guy gave us an estimate of about $5650.  :o :o :o This second guy gave us an estimate of about $1300. What a difference. I don't understand why some people think they can charge so much. Then there is the tile. It seems that Carlos will rather go with the ceramic tile from Home Depot rather than the "home grown" slate because the slate cost about twice as much as the ceramic. I'm wondering do I want to try to talk him into the slate or not.

It's annoying ain't it.

I went to work the other day, walked in, dumped my jacket on a chair and went looking for the schematics I figured I'd be working with.. nobody around. I sat there for the best part of an hour, before some guy walked in, I asked him where everyone was and he said nothing was happening that day. I was so happy.  ::)

My mouth feels better now than it did this morning; I think it's okay to begin eating hard foods again.

Started singing in a choir again.

Today I went to a friends baby shower.  And did some laundry and ironing in the afternoon.

Tomorrow morning I am going ski-ing with a group of friends.  Never done real proper skiing with snow and  stuff

Usually they give a stupidly high quote because they don't really want the job and know most people will get a few quotes, the others will be a lot cheaoer so you'll go with one of them instead.

I'm going in later today as I have to spend the morning testing (again!!) the computer system the library is thinking of taking on. It's sh!t, doesn't work and it's been two years in prduction now. It's cost the library millions, two other big libraries are already sueing the company over the fact they lied about what they could and couldn't deliver, but we are giving them 'one last chance'  ::)

Where I last worked we had a horrid computer system, and speaking to one of our callers, his company used to have the same system and got rid of it.

Aww man. The docs need to do something besides give tylenol and motrin. What a load of crap. Pass on my good wishes to her, although I'm not sure they'll do much. :P

I finally got myself into a routine so now I'll have the whole weekend free without doing any housework. Took me long enough. ::) So today I just need to sweep and vacuum. Makes my life somewhat easier.

gotta go to work in about 5 minutes. Got up, made coffee & then took a shower, then took out trash and recycle stuff. now just chillin', enjoying some aged Sumatra before I head out. oh, yeah, and I cooked a couple a Casper's hot dogs for lunch

Thanks, darlin....appreciate that.  We may not have to, though.  Talked to the nurse about how much pain she was in, they called in a pain Rx AND said that 2 of her labs came back slightly elevated, so they want to repeat them (can do it here end of Feb).  If they are still high then she most likely has RA and we can cut the wishy-washy stuff.

Had an interesting morning.

I was involved in a pretty righteous car crash. A guy at the front of the moving traffic slammed his brakes on because apparently he missed his turning, the woman behind him slammed hers on and managed to stop inches away from him, I slammed mine on but because the road was wet and icy had no chance of stopping and slammed in to the back of her, the guy behind me slammed in to me. So anyway, I get out and see what's up, the only damage to my car was I'd smashed up the number plate thing on the front, on the back part of the rear trim had come away but that's about it (I drive a veritable tank - I hit a garbage truck a few months back and it did nothing) the woman who I hit had some damage to her back end, but maybe a few hundred bucks worth tops, guy behind me however, his whole front end was trashed.
Anyway, it was the first guys fault and shockingly he owned up to it so thankfully it wont cost me a penny, I already bent the plate back in to shape and put the old shop plate holder back on, the trim I could care less about. Still, it was a fun morning.

I'm glad that it is Friday...I have today and tomorrow off. I have no idea what I am doing...but hopefully a combination of relaxing and having fun. I know that tomorrow I am FINALLY going to see, Sweeney Todd with a few friends. :)

We had some more snow overnight.  Not too much though.  It is a bit icy out now so we have a delayed start for the schools.

Then I have a coffeem orning with some of the other Brits, meeting Dai for lunch afterwards and then a bit of shopping.  I've just heard that another couple have moved out here from the company in England and the wife is having a baby at the end of February.  I thought I'd knit her something for the baby.  Can't decide between a blanket or hat, bootees, and mits.
