to wonder, what happened to the snow shovels?

News reports this morning say hardware stores are selling out of snow shovels as the first snow storm of the year
approaches. Every year, at the hint of the first snow storm, all hardware stores run out of snow shovels, now the
question, what happened to all the shovels people bought last year? How is that every year stores sell thousands
of shovels. Do people throw out the shovels after winter, do the shovels go on vacation some where and never
return, or are the shovels mixing it up with the one sock that gets lost in the laundry?

Can someone please tell me, WHERE HAVE ALL THE SNOW SHOVELS GONE?

I know!  And you'd think the stores would order extra...yet they never do.  It's one of the world's last mysteries, for sure.

Seriously, I saw stacks and stacks of them at the Walgreen's today. Maybe they're ill from the cold...

The shovels are all in one of two places,
1/2 are in Australia, where Mr. Mister is perfecting his statue art.
The other 1/2 are being converted into blood sticks for Davey's next concert. According to Hawk.

I think they go to the very same place that one sock goes when you wash a pair of socks.  Sock/Shovel/Ice scraper heaven.

I can never find my windshield ice scraper.  I know I must have 20 of them.  I only find them in August when I don't need them.  Then they disappear again.

I know where all those socks go. There is a vortex in the city in which I live. If you drill in about 300 feet and you would hit the jackpot. It is in the center of a great big O that is on the mountain next to the town.

See...that was a saying I always was curious about...selling like hotcakes.  Do hotcakes sell amazingly well in most restaurants?  I must admit that of all the breakfast foods, I guess I would like pancakes best (minus the syrup - too sugary).  But it's just odd that they would pick hotcakes for a metafore.

(OK, you want a serious answer?  They get loaned to neighbors who forget about them and move away -- you then either buy a new $20 snow shovel, or you buy a $200 snow thrower.  Even if you buy a snowblower, you probably keep a shovel handy, so you can lend the shovel to a neighbor some winter, even if you don't trust him with your snowblower.  But I couldn't leave an obvious opportunity for a parody untouched!)

Those are the new ergonomic shovels, supposed to make it easier.  I haven't tried them, but my neighbor who tries every thing new under the sun likes it
