Still got a few hours of November here, but TOMORROW I will be standing in line at the post office to buy stamps and mail christmas cards out.

Also I hope to put my tree up tomorrow and do dishes (once again) I don't know how we get some many dirty ones so fast.  I swear I don't cook that much.  ;D

I went shopping for my gift exchange gift here, but could only find a few small things.  Nothing especially exciting.  I wish I were a better shopper.  At least I got my mom and dad crossed off my Christmas list.  NO idea what to get my brother either.  *sigh*  :-\\

Well the sun is out after the mental weather we had last night, still very windy though. Himself has just gone to buy eggs, bacon and bread for breakfast and I'm about to open the first door of my advent calendar!  :)

That is my guess why he wants to do it in tangible goods even if it isn't the smartest option.

Disability works differently.  He is not on welfare so different rules apply, it would be better for him to speak to someone in the Social Security Office, or have his parents handle the excess, they, I am sure, have his best interests at heart.  That job coach still should be reported because the idea of suggesting that his money goes into collectibles is still egregious.

Holy crap, I didn't even realize it was December yet.

I'm excited! On Friday, one of my favorite musicians, Orion Rigel Dommisse, is coming to a town that's about 20 minutes from where I live, and putting on a show for $3. I just found out that I am, indeed, off that day. Hopefully I can get someone to go with me. Oh well, though. If not, I'll be glad to fly solo. Not many of my friends would like her anyway.. =P.

With a lazy day at home, watching cricket on tv in the morning and some of the movie "Babe: Pig In The City" and hammering the keyboard with some of the tunes from the opera Carmen. I am off to see (and hear) a concert tonight featuring Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

I don't collect as an investment, I collect because I love them-and that is why most people collect whatever. Things are only worth what someone is willing to buy it for. You may have something that some people value at so much money but if no one is willing to buy it for that price-then it is not worth it. You should talk to someone at your bank. Most banks have financial advisers who KNOW what they are talking about and can give you some GOOD advice as to where to invest your $$$. Even putting it in a savings account would be better than investing it in collectibles.

The warranty finally came through on our "old" (read: 8 months) pair that is so badly bowed it's like sleeping in a hammock.

Having a good day so far.It was just today was very cold during the afternoon,very blustery at Pathmark.I only hate when customers yell at me when there are no carts at all and I can't help it,I'm not a magician,just a cart collector. ::)

We went to IKEA today (44 miles away in Schaumburg). When we left, it was just overcast and cold. We come out of IKEA (where I managed to spend $100 without trying), and it's snowing a tiny bit. We hit the mall to eat some lunch, come out of there, and there's a freakin' snowstorm! Needless to say, it took almost an hour and a half to get home.

Now I'm here, willing myself to clean up this place. ::)

No sleeping in today, geez, Diane woke me up at 830am. dang!!!  So we took a morning drive to San Jose & picked up Julie for the weekend. She's now crashed out on the couch, Diane's out shopping for garland for our Christmas tree (hallelujah!) no more tinsel!  I went and bought a Oakland Raiders tee shirt at JC Penney to wear to the game in Oakland tomorrow against the Denver Broncos. My pal always takes me to one game a year with his season tix, and tomorrow is the day. those fans are stupid crazy there  :D  

Got my haircut the other night in downtown Danville and they have all the huge trees and some business's decorated with lights so it looks awesome at night. I'm gonna try to get some pics, especially of the one giant oak tree in the middle of the road. I think Jessica & Rice have seen this wonderful visual.

Well, a new mattress will have to wait. Apparently only the box springs were warrantied, and the store di not get the fax from King Coil yet with that tidy little bit of information.

In the meantime, I've been reading more on buying mattresses - I've found out some pretty good things which will help when we do get a new set.

wonderful. I need to get some pics of our Christmas tree. Diane & Julie just finished decorating it and it looks beautiful! dazzling. and no tinsel! in fact, there are no ornaments on it yet, just colored lights and garland & it looks fine but I think they have a ton of ornaments to hang on it. there is a baby's 1st Christmas ornament with 1 year old Julie pic on it  :\'(

Mike, I'm glad you are happy with the tree, but I'm guessing you are feeling a wee bit sentimental when you saw the Baby's first Christmas and baby pic of Julie?

We had a great day except that Micah isn't feeling well.  We did the Dawg Days at Ferris, got the cake, and checked into the Holiday Inn so Micah could finally have her swimming party.  They swam for quite a while (I did the jacuzzi for a little while), then we walked down the hall to Bennigan's for dinner.  Unfortunately, we were so late that the servers had all left, so there wasn't anyone to sing Happy Birthday to her.  Back in the hotel room now, waiting to see what the weather is going to do because it will affect our plans tomorrow (whether we go to GR to the mall or not).  The funniest part was my mom calling to make sure we weren't out on the roads tonight (and she thought we had called her).  She also needed to vent because my dad is getting worse mentally.  I feel so bad for her and wish I could be over there more often.  We are going over next weekend and I'll do all the cooking and give her a break with my dad.  Of course my brother called simply to ask about the weather and tell them it is 80 in FL.  I know he thinks it is funny, but for me the novelty has completely worn off.  We are in MI and he is in FL, it is December...duh, of course it is nicer down there than here!!!  He needs to realize that not all of us are in a position (unemployed) to drop everything and move across country to live with someone we met online.  Besides, someone needs to be close to the folks now.  My mom simply told him that she was talking to him from the garage because she was trying to scrape a path to the back door and since it was snowing, sleeting, etc. she really didn't have time to talk.  :)  I was proud of her.

Yeah Amy, I'm very sentimental when it comes to my daughter, and you know what it's like. She's 18, she took off in her car tonight to go to her friends 18th birthday party. Now I feel like pulling out some old photo albums of her when she was a little kid and sitting with Diane and tearing up together.  :\'(

I tell you what, I sure hope my daughter is as caring and concerned like you, when I'm an old man needing attention, although I'd rather be in good health. I applaud you for your love for your family.

Well, in the time I was gone, I have been dedicating my time between family & getting the band promoted.

Mom is on a "mini-vacation", which means we get our lives back for a bit.

On a good note:
I have been able to get the band promoted into 2 top-spot gigs for February.
I was put in charge of promotions for the band about 1 1/2 weeks ago.
In that time, I lined up 2 gigs and have about 5 more I'm waiting to hear from.

And I have spent more time on family matters....so my time away has been well-spent.

Well I'm willing myself to go and do last nights washing up.........
Today the weather is so bad I plan to stay in and watch dvd's and *maybe* write a few christmas cards!!

Himself will be nursing a huge hangover I suspect. He went out last night to a work do that he really didn't want to go to planning to only stay for an hour or so.................Came home at 12.30 staggered about a bit, threw up and passed out.  ::)

I have alot to do today... let's see what I actually get done...

1. Go to my husband's company's holiday brunch
2. Put up our Christmas lights and yard decorations
3. Set up my new computer (finally!) which arrived on Friday

So I was busy last night.

Me and my friend went out to watch the Mizzou - Oklahoma game. Anyway, one thing led to another and as per usual we were way way too drunk to drive anywhere.

So, he called his girlfriend to give us a lift.

She came up with a friend of hers and ended up staying at the same bar we were in for a while.

I go off to play darts with a guy I'd bumped in to that I knew from a while back.

I'm playing for about 20 minutes before I get a tap on the shoulder and my friend starts going in to this great diatribe about something or other, I won't go in to details but needless to say he was pissed off. Well, if said actions had in fact occurred I'd have been pissed off as well. At this point in time I figured the chances of my getting a ride were slim to nill so I did the normal and drank water for the next hour or so and shoved some food down my face so I'd sober up a bit.

Anyway, I turn my phone on this morning when I got up about a half an hour ago. Apparently this has been an on-going saga because his girlfriend is pissed off that we go out drinking so much. As he pointed out to her, both of us haven't lived in town that long and thus when either wants to do something, the list of possible drinking partners is limited. She'd managed to spin a web of lies and get him that pissed off at me but apparently it all became clear some time last night and he told her to go f**k herself.

If we were 13 this would be funny.. however at this point in life it's just a bit pathetic.

We went to a brunch that was put on by our accountant/friend for all his clients for his 20th anniversary of being an accountant. Man, there were A LOT of people there-in fact, they had 2 different times. We were all sort of counting the people and thinking if this guy made so much $$$ off of each one- :o :o :o  But, him & his wife are just super-nice people. In fact, I graduated with his wife and Carlos used to work with him. We also saw a lot of other people we haven't seen in a while. This weekend I have been super-busy, preparing for final exams in my classes, which are only a couple of weeks away. I have lots of studying and work to do before then, which I have been doing (and still am; right now I'm just taking a break). So that's why I haven't been around here much. And there's a chance I might not be online much tomorrow either.

So I was busy last night.

Me and my friend went out to watch the Mizzou - Oklahoma game. Anyway, one thing led to another and as per usual we were way way too drunk to drive anywhere.

So, he called his girlfriend to give us a lift.

She came up with a friend of hers and ended up staying at the same bar we were in for a while.

I go off to play darts with a guy I'd bumped in to that I knew from a while back.

I'm playing for about 20 minutes before I get a tap on the shoulder and my friend starts going in to this great diatribe about something or other, I won't go in to details but needless to say he was pissed off. Well, if said actions had in fact occurred I'd have been pissed off as well. At this point in time I figured the chances of my getting a ride were slim to nill so I did the normal and drank water for the next hour or so and shoved some food down my face so I'd sober up a bit.

Anyway, I turn my phone on this morning when I got up about a half an hour ago. Apparently this has been an on-going saga because his girlfriend is pissed off that we go out drinking so much. As he pointed out to her, both of us haven't lived in town that long and thus when either wants to do something, the list of possible drinking partners is limited. She'd managed to spin a web of lies and get him that pissed off at me but apparently it all became clear some time last night and he told her to go f**k herself.

If we were 13 this would be funny.. however at this point in life it's just a bit pathetic.
too bad Andy, man, don't you hate being in the middle of that sh*t? well, he may end up taking her back and dumping you  :-\\  so don't be surprised if you lose your drinking pal.

I just got back from the Oakland Raider game, had a great time. got to see the rookie QB JaMarcus make his NFL debut, the Raiders beat up on Denver, and I even got to snuggle up with a Raiderette cheerleader for a cute lil pic, just her & me. They come up into the stands for photos with the fans. maybe I'll post it. now as soon as Julie has had dinner, we're driving her back to SJSU, which coincidently is where the cheerleader graduated, same school my kid goes too. that made me feel old, like her dad  :o  wait a sec. I am old!  ;D

thasnks Andy, & I'm back. there was very little traffic on 680 tonight. 2 hours round trip, nice easy drive. I did have to park in the red to let her off because of all the other parents & students parked in the real parking spaces. Listend to goofy Christmas music on satellite radio on the way home, I'm talking hillbilly Jed Clampet  music, it was funny. I think that station is intentionally playing silly tunes. it was a unusual change.

Ohhh, sorry that you came up here on a cold, cold, day.  Boston can be gorgeous on a nice fall day, but yesterday wasn't it.  What did you see in Boston?  I could recommend a couple of offbeat things if you are interested.  With kids keep in mind this for the spring(if I don't mention it now I will forget).  On Mothers Day they have a "Make Way For Ducklings" parade.  All the little kids dress up in duckling costumes and have a little parade when they return the bronze ducklings to the Public Garden.  It is great fun.  I don't know if you know of the book, it is a kids favorite over here.  It would be nice for your kids, I would advise it for Christmas.

I was in an old book store a few weeks ago and bought a 10 volume "Worlds 100 Best Detective Stories"  Ten volumes, but they are small books 10 short mysteries in each one.  I started volume one yesterday and it seems to be good fun, just the thing for these days stuck in because of of the miseries.

We only went to the hotel for lunch then across to the children's museum.  On Sunday we went to Houghton's Pond near Blue Hills Reservation.  Dai did the Blue Hills Traverse race and I took some children around the children's orienteering course which basically just went around Houghton's Pond.  Then the children were on the playground and I was trying to keep warm until Dai finished his race.  The friends have invited us back for another visit (date uspecified).

That Mother's Day thing sounds really sweet!  Not sure if my two are a bit old for that now.  :-\\

Today was a late start day for the schools due to the black ice.  We can't get a car down our driveway (Dai tried!).  It seems to be thawing a little now, though it's still foggy/damp out.

So I today I got my fees paid for the upcoming semester...I'm thinking that Spring 2008 is gonna be my last semester. Then I can finally get my degree. Woo hoo!! :D

Well, in the time I was gone, I have been dedicating my time between family & getting the band promoted.

Mom is on a "mini-vacation", which means we get our lives back for a bit.

On a good note:
I have been able to get the band promoted into 2 top-spot gigs for February.
I was put in charge of promotions for the band about 1 1/2 weeks ago.
In that time, I lined up 2 gigs and have about 5 more I'm waiting to hear from.

And I have spent more time on family matters....so my time away has been well-spent.

You will notice when you read, that there is a bit of a change.

Yeah Amy, I'm very sentimental when it comes to my daughter, and you know what it's like. She's 18, she took off in her car tonight to go to her friends 18th birthday party. Now I feel like pulling out some old photo albums of her when she was a little kid and sitting with Diane and tearing up together.  :\'(

I tell you what, I sure hope my daughter is as caring and concerned like you, when I'm an old man needing attention, although I'd rather be in good health. I applaud you for your love for your family.



I know what you mean, Mike.  My daughter turns 18 in 20 days.  I was putting her senior picture in the frame that holds all of her 8x10 school pics and pulled out the photos from years past.  The physical changes alone are completely amazing...yet I can still see my baby in her.  I'm glad you have someone with whom you can sit on the couch and tear up with....

Thank you for your kind words and compliments.  I don't know that I deserve them as I am just doing what any adult child would do if they lived close enough.  I do love my parents, though, and would do anything for them.  It's funny what my dad's fall has done to my family.  Of course I grew up knowing my parents love me, but my mom has said the words more in the last few months than in the first 40 years of my life.  :)  She is also asking my help to figure out the medical bills that are piling up.  I'm pleasantly surprised that she thinks I will be able to figure them out (although I do have some experience since I am still getting University of Michigan and Priority Health insurance to work together to pay Micah's hospitalization bills from LAST fall).

I hope you enjoy good health for many decades to come and there is no doubt in my mind that Julie will be a caring, loving, attentive daughter.  After all, she has you and Lady Di as her role models.    ;)

Hang in there Carol, things can only get better (at least according to Howard Jones anyways).  Only two weeks to go until the 19th, they'll pass in a flinch (just like time seems to do to me anymore.  Where did 2007 go???)  Even though I don't know you very well, I am certainally willing to provide a sympathetic ear (sometimes it helps when it's a complete stranger).  :)

Got more of the apartment cleaned today, man I'm on a roll!  Got some of my labwork done this morning (GOSH Fasting 12 hours is super hard!  I was practically lethargic, driving myself to the clinic.  So I get my bloodwork done, but couldn't pee  :-[ so I will have to go back for that (after I've fasted again.)  I'm gonna wait a few days though.  Hubby has a bunch of appointments in the next few days that will keep us running. 

Finally getting my paperwork sorted, it's insane the amount of papers/receipts that need to be kept.

Yes, sales tax varies between states.  Here it's about 6% I think.  You have to pay attention to this because most prices displayed don't include tax.  So in a shop when I'm making a small purchase I get the right change ready and then need to scrabble around for a few more coins!

That could all depend, just because there isn't a tax doesn't mean that the base cost is anymore or less..  Some places may charge less/or more than it would cost if there weren't any taxes on the clothes.

Anyway today I am trying to decide if it is worth attempting to get the car down the driveway.  I have a doctors appointment later this morning that I really need to get to but the drive is currently covered in snow on top of yesterdays ice.  The UPS man just delivered a package and said he walked all the way up.

Since my last post to inthe00s, I ran for public office, at the County level, and in a very "red" district where 16% would have been an excellent showing for a Dem, I got 40% of the vote.  Not enough to win, but  more than enough to come away feeling pretty darned good.  Almost immediately after my election was over, my own campaign manager threw his hat in the ring for Mayor and asked me to serve as his media coordinator -- I did and, unlike me, he won his election!

I'm a pretty fortunate person -- everything seems to have a way of working out for the best for me.  While I was running for office, I got involved with my county's Regional Planning Commission's effort to create a private county-wide cooperative Economic Planning & Development Corp.  This is something I've wanted for my county for about 20 years.  I was asked by the chair of the RPC to serve on the Steering Committee that was formed to draft the framework for the corporation and, in all, I spent more than a year helping to build it.  When Steering folded and the corporation's initial board of directors was selected, I fully expected my involvement to end, but I was asked to serve on the board of directors as a representative of my City and also asked to serve on the board as a representative of the County at large -- obviously, I can't hold two seats... and I am better suited to the at-large.  After I was appointed, I drew a three year term and I have the distinction of being the only female on the board.  I cannot hold public office concurrently with an at-large seat, so I won't be runnng for office again for at least 3 years -- which is fine, because I'm where I want to be, where I can effect the most good and my plate is too full to fit in a campaign, anyway.

Two years ago, almost to the day, I decided it was time to put my creativity and my addiction to politics to work for me and I have a few POD stores scattered about and summoning forth the spirits of dead Presidents for me.  Don't worry, I'm not going to advertise any of them, here, but if someone who remembers me is curious and wants to have a looksee at some of my designs, my main shop is on CafePress,  just tack my old nick (the one mentioned above -- but all lower case and without the dots -- onto CafePress's url.  If I type my nick correctly, here, it will automatically convert to MooRocca.)

Finally, my good friend & business partner, Samuel, and I have spent the last 10 months building the USBuyBid Auto Wholesale Network - a (in the process of being patented) system that's going to revolutionize the automobile wholesale industry. Samuel and I are both wearing a LOT of hats through the build and have both worked almost around the clock on this, for months on end -- we've been in software development for the last 6 months and our launch is tentatively scheduled for Mar. 3, 2008... and as busy as I've been with it up 'til now, I'm going to be a LOT busier the first 3 to 5 years after we launch.

Of course, my husband and kids still come first and always will... without them, what's the poiint of anything else?  Speaking of kids, my oldest is engaged to a young man I couldn't be more thrilled to welcome into our family!  :)  So, this is a busy, but joyous time in my life. 

So... that's why I never get time to pop in anymore and probably won't again for a long time... work, work, work... and yes, I know it makes me a dull girl.  Speaking of which, if I've bored you all into a group coma -- aim those torches and pitchforks at Chucky -- he put me up to it!    :)

We're supposed to get 3 inches of snow tonight, which isn't really anything for this area.  The only problem was that the fluid for the windshield/screen on the van wasn't pumping out anymore, but the tank was full.  No problem, took it to our trusted mechanic.  Several hours later, it turns out that the motor for the windshield fluid burnt out and burnt some of the wiring as well and because my van is such a pain in the patootie to fix (whomever designed was a masochist), the part cost $35 but labor was $165!  *sigh*  It's always something.  lol
But as I said to my husband, we might have been able to get by without the fluid but I know just as soon as I got on the highway after a big snow, the sloppiest truck would splash the windshield with slush and I'd either have to pull to the side of the road to handwash the windshield or drive with my head stuck out of the side window.

Hubby helped me with some of my card envelopes today.  It is so nice to get some help.  Well basically he more or less stuck stamps on the envelopes and signed his name to his relatives cards and my parents card.  He also sorted out the envelopes that are going out of the country.  HOPEFULLY if I get my butt in gear tomorrow, I will finally get them in the mail.  I'm not promising though.  lol

I have more to sort and clean in this apartment but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Even if it's a small pinprick of light, I'll take what I can get.  Hubby says he will help sort books and boxes too, his goal is to have it all cleaned up by Jan. 1st.  I think he's being a little too optimistic on that one.  lol But miracles do happen, I suppose.

I am furious.

So I've been making tamales for the past three hours or so. The steamer that I just bought is basically a big pot with a removable bottom that sits on a ledge right above the water. I stand the tamales upright in the steamer like I was told to do and let them start cooking. About an hour in I go to check on them. I notice some are sliding down. So I try and pick them up again, and the whole bottom collapses into the boiling water, splashes my arm, and renders my tamales inedible because they dropped into the water (the masa is basically melting because they're not even close to being done). Fifteen tamales and about an hour's work. Gone.

And my arm hurts now. Dammit. :P

As for us- We picked up our cards tonight, so we will hopefully have them in the mail tomorrow.

I heard some of this when I was listening to the radio at breakfast.  Thankfully no one was hurt though it's not much comfort if your home is gone.  :-\\

Got to work a long shift today.The supervisor said I should clock in at 10am today,10-4 instead of 10-630 and then I was able to clock in early to sweep leaves and trash disposal.

Thursday is my Friday. I"m so happy!!!!!  BUT Friday I place a call to see if I'm on jury duty stand by.  Since mine has been deferred I'll be definately picked for it.  That means on Monday I go sit in a room with the leper colony that is the general populace and wait to get picked. Then we go in a courtroom and get interviewed.  Again, since this is my third call, I'm for shurrrr getting chosen.

Dai's been away through work but gets home today - his 40th birthday.  I still haven't bought his present because I don't know what he wants.  I'd like to get something 'special' to mark the occasion but I can't think of anything  :-\\

Anyway I'm going shopping today to search for inspiration and to get Dai something from the children and a birthday cake of some sort.  Also looking at getting some curtains for the house - there aren't any downstairs so once it gets dark the house gets very cold.

What I'm getting at is.. doing all of that is fine, because It IS my job, and I get (under)paid for it. But.. no one else does ANYTHING during the day, they let things pile up for my shift. I try to do the same thing, but I just can't leave that many dishes in the sink, and I really can't let the garbage overflow like that. Everytime I come in for my shift, they're sitting on the couch, watching tv, barking orders at me. And that's what makes me upset.

My supervisor is the one that's doing it. Looks like I have to go above her, I guess. However, I found another place that deals with mentally ill/handicapped people, and it's actually right in my town. Not only right in my town, but two streets away from me. I'm going to get an application for that place today. I need to get out of that filthy place, and it'd be nice to save on some gas.






Today, I have off. I think I'm going to do some Christmas shopping, and fondue with the bro'.

I have mentioned a few hundred times how much I REALLY hate PayPal. He sends it my PayPal account that I haven't used in years because it is not "verified" and I refuse to give them a bank account #. So now, I have $$ in that account. I try to get PayPal the account # that Carlos & I have set up just for PayPal-but it they won't accept that because it is being used by another account. So, I tried to send the $$ to our other PayPal account. It won't do it without bank info. I try sending it back to Dad-again, it won't do it without bank info. So, I have to give PayPal a bank account info that I really don't want to do just to get this year's gift. I was at home today; I spent as much time studying today as I could. I also did some laundry, walked the dog...and even ran a couple of errands on my own. First I went to the credit union to deposit some money, and then to the post office to mail some holiday cards. I'm really getting the hang of driving on my own now.

I did hear about that but I'm not a huge fan of his really, and it's my work christmas party next friday!

I can't find my car keys so I had to go get Sigs car from him at work, later I will drive to his house and get the spare he keeps(I lost the spare I keep).  I will pick him up at work at the end of the day and give him his car back, and he will fuss a bit about my losing my car keys.  Then maybe we will go out to dinner.

There again, on Monday at the same venue, they are holding auditions for a stage version of Fame.

The reason I had to come in early the other day was because somebody's sick and won't be in for a few weeks so I may be called in the morning which means more money and maybe more hours. :)

I found out that I open an account with my bank on-line (since I already have a few accounts with them). I will just put a small amount into it and then I can get my holiday gift out of PayPal. AUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

Feeling pretty stiff, today.

My lower back and legs are telling me that yes, it's getting colder.

Just said goodbye to my little brother, he helped me repair our backyard fence. It sure is good to have someone you know and trust and knows what the hell they're doing.  Took a nice long hot shower, made some tea, popped some Tylenol and am now giving my body a rest. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow. 

Not use to doing that kind of stuff? may I suggest some Epsom Salts in a nice hot bath. Does wonders for the muscles.

not really. I sit at a desk on my ass all day, so fence construction is a bit more rigorous than what I'm used to.  thanks for the advice.  I can't recall the last time I took a bath  :o  I have an excellent Hot Tub on my patio that I haven't used in a year. I need to clean it up and fire that sucker up. that would be so nice right now.

Well I would not suggest doing it now. With the workout you put your muscles through, I would wait until day after tomorrow to do that. Just use a bathtub in you home. Trust me it will do wonders. When I do things that I am not usually use to that is what I do.

I am enjoying a mother's day off, but for the wrong reason. Rice and the boy went with some friends to the Museum of Science and Industry to check out the Star Wars exhibit. I was going to go as well, but I'm sorta ill, so I elected to stay at home and rest up. I was feeling okay enough to sweep our nasty floors, but now I'm exhausted, so I think I'll go park myself in front of the television and finish watching Gone With the Wind.

We were also supposed to go downtown tonight and check out the lights, but we're going to get freezing rain at some point, so I don't think that would set to well with me.

BTW, have you seen Kubrick's Barry Lyndon, for there is a superb card playing scene in that film. You may learn tactics from it.

We got to the lake about 11:30 Friday night (after watching the CCA Varsity get humiliated 64-38).  Today I ran into town to get cold medication and groceries, made tacos for lunch (as usual), wrapped Christmas presents, wrapped birthday presents, made the beef dip for "the cocktail hour", and helped my mom get dinner ready...all the while managing not to cough on everything.  :)  I'll take some more Nyquil tonight and the daytime stuff in the morning.

the show and I'll tell you what, if they keep performing like they do I'll keep going. I don't normally go to concerts
anymore but this is one show I won't miss.

TSO is well worth the ticket price, not a bad price by todays standards, $50.50 per ticket. they have two parts to their show,
the first half is a narrative between songs, all Christmas oriented. The second half is kick a$$ music, most of which is classical
oriented but put to a heavy metal beat. Almost 3 hours in all, no intermission and pure energy. If you get the chance, I highly
reccomend you see them.

...oh yeah, cleaned house today and had friends over for Poker. At 5:30 we began the night with pizza, then started playing cards at 6pm and didn't finish until  about 1am. I got lucky and won it all tonight. woot! $82.50 and sadly I beat Diane in the final round, but she won $20, so that was cool. I won $30, $27.50, and $30. not a bad night for the house. since I did so well, I didn't ask our friends to chip in for pizza   ;D
they're all gone now and at 1:49am, finally getting some inthe00s action, but not for long.

Well, next Saturday the band is playing in Chico, doing an "exposure" concert.

(Not the kind of exposure Howard would think.  ::)  )

-We think it will be a good step for getting us out there, so I have to come up with fliers this week.

Today I am up way too early.  I got to sleep late, but got up on my regular schedule, I will probably need to nap at about 10.  Today Sig will(I hope) finish painting the living room, and we will probably gear up for the snow/ice storm that is supposed to hit us( it's February in December here). That means munchies, drinks, dvds, and warm winter slippers and bathrobes for all  ;D

I officially stayed up all night...my sleeping patterns are so wack lately!  ;D :D

I have finished the rest of my Christmas cards, so they can go out tomorrow.  I was able to order a CD for my dad that my mom wanted to get him and I have made my list for the last minute stuff I have to get.  All in all, a productive weekend.  We are currently still at the lake, watching "Sleepless in Seatlle" on TNT.  Micah is wrapping the last of the gifts for my mom, then we'll get dressed and head home (after we get the car cleaned off after the 1-2 inches of snow we got overnight).

It's only December and I've had some ups and downs already. First off, my house team leader Dan has been on annual leave and he doesn't come back until tomorrow. Also my housemate Martin is leaving tomorrow to live somewhere else.

The good things of this month include talking to my personal trainer Tamara at the gym a couple of times. On Tuesday, I showed her my holiday pictures that were taken in Majorca and she liked them a lot. When I was I was on the treadmill, I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was Tamara. I spoke to her for a bit befoe she had a 1:1 session with another member.

I'm really excited about staying with my family over Christmas and I've ordered their presents online already.

I was thinking of getting tickets to see them but don't know enough of their music to feel confident about enjoying it all.  They are playing a couple of dates here (Connecticut) sometime now but I heard them advertising ages ago on the local radio.

Got back from our weekend away a couple of hours ago. As ever we spent the whole time dashing round visiting friends and family so I'm knackered now. Luckily I'm off work tomorrow so I can sleep late.

'I'm' doing my Christmas shopping today. I'm awful at that stuff so I've enlisted my friend Elyse.. I'm going to give her money and she's going to decide what everyone gets, I think this is a good way of doing things.

seems like a long day & I'm tired. I slept in until 11am, then went to the store and bought 3 loaves of this wonderful Italian bread for a potluck at a friends house. the food was so good, then off to church to see the kids musical. In just a little while we will be taking Julie back to her dorm once she's ready and that's about 2 hours & 10 minutes round trip and I betcha I will end up back here on the computer before I go to bed.

OMG my daughter did the most interesting thing today. This morning while my mom was waking up and outside having coffee and a cigarette; Teela my 6 yr old daughter had made a phone call. My mother caught it when she came in. Teela was saying, "I don't have a credit card number, but my mommy does......." My mom took the phone away from her and it was for Betty Crocker's full cake decorating kit that she had seen a commercial for and she wanted it. My mom hung up the phone.

This same girl knew, at 1 1/2, that Daddy's wallet is where money is, and when I looked in it (it was on the floor), the coins were there, but about $ 50 in bills were missing, and there was Teela, running for her room.

It's been an interesting weekend.So far New York has had light snow up to an inch or less and that's about now.So far so good,no significant snow is in the near future.

Quite a busy weekend.  It snowed on Friday so we built a snowman on Saturday although it was "the wrong sort of snow" to do a decent job.  Saturday evening Dai and I went out to his works dinner.  It was a good night.  We had a nice dinner and there was a live band afterwards for dancing.  We were discussing the last time we went out dancing just as a couple and decided it might be when Dai was best man at a friends wedding in 1993!

Yesterday we went shopping for a new coat for James.  His suddenly seemed too small for him.  Of course he liked one of the more expensive ones!  Still it looks good and warm.  We also bought ELizabeth some waterproof gloves for the snowy weather.  The we queued for ages to eat in The Cheesecake Factory.

An ice storm came overnight - the driveway is like polished glass - so I'm stuck at home.  There is something happening in James class to day that I'd like to get to so I'm going to phone another mum who lives nearby to see if she is going.

Well, today I am supposed to be busy working on my studies, as I have been doing this weekend, but I decided to stop by here for a little bit.

I also took a break about 45 minutes ago to see a friend and give her a Christmas card...since I wouldn't be seeing her later this week (or next week, for that matter). Like me, she has only one more semester after this one too. I also told her of my family's plans for Christmas Eve, which is only two weeks away now! She seemed interested in coming over; she has not made a decision yet.

I found a copy of "The 10th Kingdom" (don't know if anyone remembers that NBC miniseries) on DVD for cheap, and I really wanted to buy it. I have to wait until the end of the month though. Then we stopped into a Chinese restaurant so I could get us some lunch. They make a mean banana smoothie, lots of fruit, very little sugar, and some ice and water. It's delicious.

Now I'm just sitting here, finishing off my lunch.

Yesterday I helped James make a 'gingerbread' house at school.  We covered a small milk carton with Graham crackers stuck on with frosting.  Then we covered it all in frosting and stuck various sweets all over it.

Today i am going to school in a moment to see the winter concert.  9.30 strikes me as an odd time of day to have it.  In the UK they would do one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

well, i escaped one day of jury selection...we'll see what happens today! 8-P

Carlos has already called the doc's office to see if an alternative can be done-like a "conference" call since this will be a consultation with another doc. He was told to call back later. Yeah, I do know and understand that this appointment is VERY important but not so important that it could be very dangerous for us to get there.

You're right.  It is an important appointment, but not worth it if it puts both of you in jeopardy.  It is getting worse here.  Micah's school called me (I had called earlier) to tell me that all afterschool/evening activities were cancelled.  Now I don't have to worry about her driving after the basketball game tonight (esp. since it is going to get worse tonight).

Like I said, hopefully they will let us do it over the phone-since it is only a consultation. The receptionist said that she never heard of anyone doing it over the phone. It is not the ideal but much safer than being on the roads tonight.

Today was spent running between schools, first I drop of Megan and then I dropped off Hunter then I went back to Megan's school to do an art project, I finished just in time to run back to Hunter's school to watch his Christmas show, I put him in the car and went back to Megan's school to pick her up.  I'm worn out.

It wil be much easier when they're in the same school. 

Over the next few days I'll be doing more volunteer work at Megan's school.  It seems like I'm the only parent available.  I'm watching the class during a teacher's luncheon tomorrow, Thursday is the day I help some kids with reading, Friday we have a class trip to the Library (that should be interesting!) and on Monday I'm working at the "Santa Shop".  Somewhere in between all of this I need to wrap presents, take Megan to have her cast removed, clean out my car and pack for our trip to Florida.

It sounds then that Carlos most likely has an isolated and treatable form of cancer and now you guys have to decide whether he wants surgery, or surgery + chemo.  Most likely they'll ask you to consider some chemo, which really sucks...gotta start working on a better "cure" :P

I need to get out tomorrow, to distribute the fliers I've made, promoting Saturday's show in Chico.

worked 1/2 a day, then saw my surgeon that performed my eyelid/lash surgery and he said it's healed nicely and I'm good to go. Diane and I went to a staff appreciation dinner this evening for the group I work with setting up at churh. That was nice and then came home and made some Rice Krispie treats to take to work tomorrow because we're having a appreciation luncheon and it's gonna kick ass. Back Forty BBQ. mmmm..... ribs  ::)

Today I am running some errands and taking my grandma Christmas shopping.

I heard that today will be good but tomorrow NY might get about 1-3 inches of snow and slush before changing to rain then on Sunday is a different story,significant snow.Nobody knows for sure the accumulation but I'll let you know as thing happen.That won't be good for Pathmark.Frozen carts and angry customers. :(

Well 99% of my Christmas shopping is done, but, Sig was called on a job last week, so I will be doing his shopping for him.  It won't be too bad since he really only gets stuff for me and Jake, the nieces and nephews get checks, but I will have to get on it today because the weather is going to be bad the rest of the week, and i have been trying to avoid shopping the week before Christmas. 

Think we've bought everything now.  Did the last bits this morning.  Only my niece to get something for and I think we are getting her an Amazon voucher.  I was also looking to get her some perfume she'd mentioned but it was nearly $50 so I didn't get it.

This evening James is going to a Christmas party organised by one of the other British families here.

We just have to watch the news or check the website.  Sometimes we know before we go to bed, sometimes I find out when it is posted at the bottom of the TV screen before I wake Micah up.  They use the 4 main stations in the area plus 3 or 4 local radio stations.  If they close during the day, there is an arrangement between the schools and Ferris that FSU employees get notified via email (because so many have kids in the school systems).  It is also announced on the local radio station.

I can't however envision my being there.

We just have to watch the news or check the website.  Sometimes we know before we go to bed, sometimes I find out when it is posted at the bottom of the TV screen before I wake Micah up.  They use the 4 main stations in the area plus 3 or 4 local radio stations.  If they close during the day, there is an arrangement between the schools and Ferris that FSU employees get notified via email (because so many have kids in the school systems).  It is also announced on the local radio station.


I can also check a website (which they have now updated - last time I looked it mentioned some cancellation in 2005), check a couple of tv channels and some radio stations (though not the one I listen to regularly  :( )

We had at leat 8 inches of snow today.  I had to abandon the car at the bottom of the drive after I came home from the supermarket.

Well, I got my SQL projects done today...so then I went to the mall to do a little shopping. I bought a Kinkade calendar for my mom for Christmas. I was trying to find the Victoriana calendar that she loves so much, but they didn't have it there. Perhaps I need to look somewhere else, which I might do this weekend (in addition to studying for finals).

I had a pleasant evening, watching tv in the living room with a nice warm oak wood fire blazing in the fireplace. I need to get some more of that wood because it burns really nicely and it was quite warm. Julie and Diane in the family room working on sewing a homemade stuffed turtle that Julie is making for her friend. She alerted me this evening of her desire to get her nose pierced. she's 18 so I guess she wasn't asking for permission, but merely letting me know of her plan  ;D

lol Not that I know of.  But then, our library was so noisy that one might not be able to hear such a noise generally if one were to make such noise.  ;)  I would often get hiccups (REALLY LOUD hiccups, and of course, the library would quiet down precisely at those times.)  :-[

Just a terrible,terrible day at Pathmark yesterday.As predicted,snow,sleet,freezing rain and changing back to rain.So far,we had about 1-2 inches of slush and a sloppy mess.During the mid-afternoon,I helped the maintainence guy with shoveling slush while he threw out salt for the sidewalk.But overall,A bad yucky and sloppy day.On top of that,Sunday we might be getting a Nor'easter,Oh God,here we go again. :o :(

The studs are a bit more inconspicuous than the ring (and prettier if it's just a tiny diamond), and they're pretty common nowadays. Rest assured, I bet Julie will get tired of it in a few years. I rarely wear mine, and I got mine done when I was 19.

And at least she told you. I figured my mom would flip out, so I got it done on the sly and had my sister call and inform her. ;D

Gonna try and clean. I doubt it will happen until tonight though. I seem to have more energy in the evening.

Better that than tattoo.  I had a pierced nose, got tired of it, now it just looks like a freckle.  Piercings are much more forgiving than tattoos.

Me too! Finally time to breath and get back to posting.

So today was Megan's field trip to the library, it was really nice and the kids were well behaved.  After the library the kids rode the bus to the mall and had lunch at a place called Picadilly, the kid's food was waiting for them when arrived and after the the kids were seated the chaperones could go and pick out their lunch (it's a cafeteria type restaurant).  I got in line and I was ready to grab a tray when I saw ROACHES walking on the food...I wanted to puke.  8-P 8-P  It was too late for the kids, they had already eaten most of the food. 

Now Hunter is up puking, he went on the trip with us...is it a stomach bug or did he eat some bad food?  :-\\  I guess if the entire 1st grade is sick on Monday we'll know.

Tried to get some studying done today, since I have finals next week. My first exam is on Monday morning at 9, and my other one is on Tuesday night at 6 (all times Pacific). So after I sign off for the evening, I will continue studying for my exams, and will probably not be back online until after the first one is done.

It was gross, it was the first time I've ever seen roaches in a restaurant (I've heard that even the fanciest places can have them). 

The school picked this place because it was the only restaurant that could feed 100 kids at one time (all of the 1st grade classes went.).

I was going to call yesterday but I didn't get home until after 4:30 and of course the office closes at 4:30, they are closed today but first thing Monday morning I'll make that call. 

Just came back from driving around looking at Christmas lights and I have to say I was deeply disappointed.  It hasn't been this lackluster since the seventies.  The display of Christmas lights is one true test of our economy, and it isn't all that bright.    :(

We got back from a quaint Christmas party up in Napa California, which is fondly and aptly named "Wine Country". ate all kinds of goodies, and I had this horrible little dog barking and nipping at me all night. The lil' f*cker hated me  ;D  and liked everybody else which was weird.  they decided to go Christmas caroling which I had told Diane I wasn't going to do and if that was on the agenda, she could count me out. She said they weren't going to carol, but they did anyways. I'm sure she fibbed to me just to get me to go  >:(  so I went out with them and they sang and I froze my ass off just so they could sing to their elderly neighbors.    nice attitude, huh?

I hope I start to feel better tomorrow (today): I've been sick as a ... sick dog the past few days with a sinus infection that nearly rivals the one I had in boot camp - high fever, headache, steel-devouring mucus like the Alien, etc. If lung cookies were edible (and good...), I would have easily put Keebler out of business in 72 hours...

It doesn't help that the weather here has gone from a record high 78* two days ago down to 36* and raining now. My sleep has been so screwed up the past few days.

Just back in from shoveling for the second time.  Couldn't put it off, it has started to rain and everything that can be shoveled has to be shoveled before it freezes over.  The snow plows have done a terrible job.  Glad I don't have to work tomorrow, I just may not make it out of here until the spring thaw.  ::)

I hope I start to feel better tomorrow (today): I've been sick as a ... sick dog the past few days with a sinus infection that nearly rivals the one I had in boot camp - high fever, headache, steel-devouring mucus like the Alien, etc. If lung cookies were edible (and good...), I would have easily put Keebler out of business in 72 hours... It doesn't help that the weather here has gone from a record high 78* two days ago down to 36* and raining now. My sleep has been so screwed up the past few days.

James isn't well so is off school today.  We managed to miss the school bus (I swear it didn't stop) and I didn't think the drive was safe enough to get the car out so Elizabeth is also off school.

I'm trying to make curtains for James's room (made one so far) and the living room (bought material so far).  I hate sewing.

I have 5 days left until the annual Christmas party at the college. I bought a new dress for the occasion back in May? Got some Christmas shopping done, this past weekend.

The show actually turned out OK- we had a modest crowd, despite the fact that's it's right in the midst of the Shopping Season.

Gotten a few responses that were positive.
I will say this: Certain members of the band need to practice more before debuting new skills.

-I was also told I need to wear my black fedora, when I perform.
(Something tells me it's becoming a trademark)
