Subject: Do you Pogo?
Written By: Tam on 10/04/07 at 5:25 pm
I know we all have had our fun playing the games in the forum arcade, so I am wondering if anyone here plays games on other websites?
I am a Club Pogo member and can be found over there daily!
If anyone else is a pogo player or member - shout it out and we all can hook up over there!
There is also a forum (or two) devoted to Pogo, but I only read - have yet to reply to anything!
Or if you play somewhere else, let us know too!
I think it is just interesting the places we go daily on the internet without even the slightest clue that peeps we know from here could be there! ;D ;D ;D

Oh I forgot to mention my name...SkylarSpadesPlyr. I don't play Spades but my husband uses this account to play Spades when he wants to play with different people. If he uses his account he winds up playing with the same people over and over. ;D

Nicole downloaded this the other day. All I know is the game she was trying to play never loaded and locked up the computer.
At least I know it's a decent site. I might try a few games here and there when I get a chance.

What game did she download?
I don't download any of the games yet - I am thinking about buying Lottso Deluxe but haven't yet.
Sitting here playing on it right now as a matter of fact! ;)

It was the trial for Lottso Deluxe. I figured out why it locked up - Norton AntiVirus didn't like it attempting to connect to a DNS server. The game is probably fine.

When I first got on-line, Pogo was one of the first places I discovered-and stayed there for a LONG time. I met a very dear friend there, too. Anyway, when the IE on my old computer went bye-bye, I stopped going to pogo. Now, with the new computer, I'm still having trouble. A friend (and you know who you are ;) ) gave me a free pass to Club Pogo. I took it and couldn't get into ANY of the games. For that entire week, I kept trying to get Pogo to help out. They kept asking for the same info over & over & over again until finally the free trial week was up and then they ask me if I wanted to join. Yeah right! I want to pay for something that I can't get access to. ::) I'm still having problems with Pogo-on both IE & on Firefox. I'm not too sure what the problem is. Maybe someday, I will figure out what the problem is. So, I don't go there too much-but for those of you who do go, you can guess what my user name is. ;) When I do go, it is usually Vaults of Atlantis, Poppit, or Tumble Bees that I play.

Here is the problem I had with pogo in the past - that was fixed shortly afterwards.
On the XP - it ran fine
On the vista, not so fine!
With vista, I had to go to www.java.com and get the latest driver - not the same as the current one. I am actually rolled back a driver or two.
Second, my original graphics card that came with vista had to be upgraded - easy enough once I figured it out because Pogo would never give me a graphics error - would only either lock up the game and tell me that I didn't have java on the computer, or it would let me into a game but not be able to do anything. ::)
Cat - let me know what type of graphics card you have and then we will see what I can do to help you get pogo running again! ;)

Start>Control Panel> System>Hardware>Device Manager>Display Adapters
That should tell you what video card you have.

It says Intel (R) G965 Express Chipset Family. Is that it? And if so, what does that mean? :-\\

No, that's just the chipset, not the video card.
Are you running Vista? (that command pathway works only in XP apparently) Also, if you have a new computer and haven't replaced the video card, you can look up the specs of that model to see what it has.

They aren't really downloads Phillip. It is like the Active X controls! It justs asks you to do that so that the games will be accessed easier the next time you go to play ;)

Just need to know one more thing Cat - is your Vista a 32-bit or a 64-bit? Home Basic? Home Premium? Home Ultimate? Desktop or Laptop?
Start > Control Panel > double click System
On this page it should tell you exactly what bit you are running. If you can't see system on the control panel, switch to classic view on the left hand side, then it should show up ;)

The one you want to download is #1
That is the complete updated driver for your graphics card ;)
Once that's all done, if you haven't already then go to www.java.com and click "Do I have Java?"
It will tell you if you are up to date or if you need to update. If an update is required, it will lead you through the process.

I found your driver, but it says it is for the laptop. You are running a laptop right?
Nope. It is a desktop.

AAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
After spending a couple of hours downloading the stupid thing, I tried to install it and I get an error message saying "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer".
Ok, what the hell does that mean and what do I do now?
