Well, I'm two years younger, but I've only had three jobs in my life...You make me feel like I've been wasting time. :-\\

I've worked as an actuarial assistent at an actuarial firm (if you don't know what that is...please ask someone who does! ;D)
Subsequently I was employed as a corrector for the same actuarial firm.
And for the past seven years I've been working as a corrector for an accountancy firm.

Started off fresh out of school in a bank...lasted nine years before redundancy got a-hold of me!

Then a three-year stint doing night security...(No matter how desperate for work you are, DO NOT pick this as an occupation...it'll be the ruin of you!)

(Okay, I appreciate some people HAVE picked it as an occupation...they must be made of stronger stuff than I!)

Thankfully escaped from that into the job I'm in now...working as a print/despatch/administrative 'gofer' in the legal trade...

I must be getting old because I keep remembering about jobs that I forgot.  :D ;D ;D  One of my best friends used to work at a jewelry store. Every year they did inventory and were told bring a friend. She brought me so it was basically 2 days work and I did that two years in a row.

Another one I just remember, in my old apartment, one summer I helped our maintenance dude put a new roof on the building. My job was basically cleaning up the old shingles that he threw down, cutting some things (my first and only time using a power saw) and holding the ladder as he climbed up & down. Did that for about 3 weeks-until the roof was done.

That's actually what I did for my 1-day stint at a department store. I worked in my brother's jewelry department helping with inventory and actually got a few sales for him (and watched him deal with a difficult customer). He was assistant manager at the time.

Another little job I did was help my Aunt edit video for our local cable access channel some ten years ago. She was making a video for the class of '97's prom and graduation ceremonies to show on TV.

Ahhh, shingle clean up. I did that once for a site my dad was on. Not fun, but better than carrying shingles up a ladder!

I forgot my shortest job - I was there literally 10 minutes. Again, helping my dad put insulation in a garage. I had no idea how to do it, so I wound up putting a staple through my pointer finger. Blood was all over the place. My nail fell off at the end of the week and took a few months to grow back in.

I also worked at Stein Mart for a few days rearranging thier displays. The manager wanted them PERFECT, so getting the heavy units into exact placement meant kicking the bases. I thought steel toe boots and heavy socks would be sufficient protection -- they weren't. By the end of the week, both of my big toenails fell off.

It's interesting to see all the jobs everyone has had so far!

Not as much as you would think. I've had several worse OTJ injuries... I think I'll start a new thread on that.

Older board members might have had fewer jobs in their lifetimes. I know my family has had very few jobs.

My uncle, who is 47, has only had three jobs in his life: janitor, military and now he works at a plant that manufactures fuel rods for nuclear reactors.

My mom, who will be 60 in two weeks, has had two jobs: hairstylist (44 years, 38 of them at the same address and same boss) and transportation (5 years). She owns the hair salon now.

And my aunt has been a paralegal since she graduated high school... 49 years ago. She's only had three different employers, and never had another job.

Yes, it's hard to avoid any injury no matter where you're at. Sometimes they're just inevitable.

I believe there are a lot of older members who have stuck to the same jobs for many years. I suppose back in the day when they started working, retirement plans were better than what we get to look forward to.  ;D

Neither - it's an honorary degree (but it doesn't pay, so it doesn't count  :P).

Dosen't pay yet, soon my proposed tax on existence will be approved, then you'll all be coming to me for money!!

Your neighbors must be annoyed.

I wrote performance reviews for a LensCrafter manager who was too lazy to do so. Actually, I expanded on his ideas and made his writing coherent.

I was a babysitter for three of the most hellacious spoiled rich kids to ever grace the planet.

I was a data entry/order processor for eight months, until they decided I was no longer of value to them, even though my mom and I did most of the work.

I worked the front desk at a Best Western for awhile. Then I got fed up with taking the blame for all the owner's mistakes.

My last job was at Target. NEVER AGAIN. Actually, I was banned from ever working at another Target because I blew up at HR and the manager, laughed in her face when she told me I wouldn't be allowed to come back, and stormed out during the height of the busy evening, taking two more cashiers with me because they were pissed at the front end manager. Whoops.

Now I'm a stay at home mom.
