My desktop is a picture of Katharine McPhee. The pic was originally a HQ photo, and when I saw it, i thought it would make for a good desktop, so I resized it, and cropped it to fit as wallpaper and it looks real good! 8)

how do I snap a pic of my desktop?
- Hit your print screen (prt scr) key to capture your screen (on most keyboards, it's above the 'insert' key
- Open up Windows Paint, and paste in your screen
- Save the pic
- Then either upload as an attatchment or link it from a photo sharing site
:)

Yeah ... Jason. I've noticed that the pics above seem to be constrained in size .... and I've yet to find a way to overcome this problem. Don't know if it's possible. I mean ... 300px width, 225px height ... seems to be the max we can get here for the screen shots of those desktops.
Like ... well, I've been over to the 'big boards' site ... and it would be nice to be able to whack them in here at close to the size I see them there/ make them readable on THIS site .... but by the time I've uploaded them to image shack etc; and view it here, they're so compressed/tiny as to be requiring a microscope to read! :( :\'( :(
Is there a way around this? ... preferably not the 'attachment' method ... since that is limited to 128k, and would require a fair bit of degrading of the image quality even if you could do it that way ...
???

This messageboard limits picture sizes, shrinking down large images to a smaller size. The only way around this is to strategically chop your picture into 4 same size squares, and upload each portion of the picture, putting the IMG tags in the order of which the pictures will form the complete image. It sounds confusing doesn't it?
I should try it with my desktop to see if it works ...

It takes precise editing with Windows Paint, basically cutting the pic into 4 same sized boxes. Unfortunately, I wasn't precise enough with my cutting, so I had to change the width of two of the 4 pictures within the IMG tags so it would look right

Hmm. I see after clicking on various parts of that pic the 4 different parts of the pic. I can understand the uploading/ image tags part of it ... but not really up to how I'm gonna divide the pic up ... into the 4 perfect parts ... where you can't even see the join lines ... What tool do you use to achieve the 'cutting' into 4 parts?
Also, before uploading them, did you constrain the size to a certain number of pixels?

What I do is I use Windows Paint, and I measure by the blue sizing handles on the bottom and right side of the screen. It is all very confusing and very tricky to do

I did note the 'safari' icon was active. Was curious ... and just found this info ....
Blazing performance.
2x Faster
The fastest web browser on any platform, Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
And it executes JavaScript up to 2.8 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
What does all that mean for you? Less time loading pages and more time enjoying them.
Performance measured in seconds. Testing conducted by Apple in June 2007 on a 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo-based iMac system running Windows XP Professional SP2, configured with 1GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon X1600 with 128MB of VRAM. HTML and JavaScript benchmarks based on VeriTest’s iBench Version 5.0 using default settings. Testing conducted with a beta version of Safari; all other browsers were shipping versions. Performance will vary based on system configuration, network connection, and other factors.
Here's the link: http://www.apple.com/safari/
I'd never heard of 'Safari' till now. I might well check it out myself. They say it works on Windows PC's too ! :)

I tend to stick to drab uninteresting desktops. I usually have a plain old blue wallpaper but thought I would spice things up with a raindrop on a sliver of grass. ;) I keep it as simple as possible so I don't have as much of an urge to change desktop photos. I do have a feature that would change my wallpaper as often as every minute but that drove me nuts.

I didn't notice that I had the pointer on Safari. I mainly use Safari but I sometimes switch to firefox because this site sometimes loads slowly on safari. Not sure why.
