Subject: What movie always seems to cheer you up?
Written By: quirky_cat_girl on 07/08/07 at 11:02 pm
What movie always seems to cheer you up when you are down...no matter how many times you've seen it?
The two for me that especially do it:
National Lampoon's Vacation
Superstar (starring Molly Shannon) :D
And on that note...I think I will go watch one of them! ;D

Grease. What makes it even more enjoyable is that I drive my daughter crazy by singing every song! ;D ;D

If I have had a totally crappy week and really need to be cheered up - nothing beats Dirty Dancing for me. That and Rocky Horror Picture Show on the same night ensures I totally forget whatever has been troubling me.

Anything I've seen a few times before, and typically anything that's got silly, easygoing humor. Some examples:
Any of the Police Academy's
UHF
the first 5 Ernest movies
Ace Ventura
Uncle Buck
Dennis The Menace
Happy Gilmore
Encino Man
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
What About Bob
Bruce Almighty
anything else from Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler or John Candy, etc.
I guess just like music (especially with me, pop from the 1981-1996 time), those are like "comfort zone" movies. Anything you know well, or that reminds you of a good time, can almost cheer you up for that reason too.
