I'm going to be visiting my mom's homeland of Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany and maybe some other countries. This is the first time that I will be outside of the North American continent, only other country I've been to (besides my home of the United States) is Canada. My mom hasn't been there in 30 years herself so it's big for her too. I will be meeting her aunt, cousin and his wife, and their daughter (which would be my mom's first cousin once removed and my second cousin I believe). I don't know any of the language there so hopefully I will be able to communicate with them lol. We're planned for 3 weeks, I've thought about staying there somewhat after that but I'll see how it is. My mom and dad actually might move there next year after he retires but who knows lol. Wish me luck!  ;)

I don't think you'll have to worry about the language barrier. Hands, feet and some English might do the trick.

You are so lucky.  Remember soak up the culture where you're at when you're there.  My Dad has this habit of telling people how bad the drivers are in Italy.  OOPS sorry I'm babbling again aren't I? :-[

I have a recipe & a nice pan to cook crepes in & plan to make some soon. maybe tomorrow for dinner I'll make some. that would be an unusual dinner, maybe for dessert. so your in-laws make them?

I am in in Croatia (Hrvatska), I arrived last night at Zagreb at about umm 11:45 PM, then the drive to over here was a good 3 hours or so. I had to sign up for MSN dialup here cuz there's no internet in this house (nobody really lives here fulltime, they just take care of it). The town i'm in is called Nedescina. It's 2:10 AM here right now. Very little English spoke here, but I was somewhat able to communicate my mom's cousin's wife and her daughter. So far so good, I'm gonna try to post some pics pretty soon here of the house and some stuff.

I am SO jealous, Brian. I hope you have lots of fun!
