I just had to call the cops, as i heard my neighbors car alarm go off and then as I looked out the window, I saw a car drive off with it's lights off, obviously the criminals. Talked to my neighbor as he was outside inspecting for damage * hopefully the police will patrol our quiet neighborhood. I still have somewhat of an adrenaline rush going. and I hope they catch those bastards  >:(

One evening, we were watching t.v. and we heard a big BANG and the house shook. About 2 seconds later, we heard something that sounded like rain but it only lasted a few seconds. We found out that some idiot rammed his truck into a utility pole right outside our house (the raining sound we were was glass hitting the ground). He did it purposely because he was upset with his girlfriend which didn't make any sense. Now if he rammed HER truck into a pole because he was upset with her, that would make more sense.  :D ;D ;D

My father finally called Tree Service to cut our tree down after 50 years and now what's left is a big stump.It was getting very old and collecting bugs anyway.Now,I can see across the street. ;D

I am the watch dog for my hood.  I don't know if there was any damage, but they gained access to 2 vehicles and the alarm scared them off. Police came by, & I told them about the car I saw and asked him to patrol more than usual if they could. One of my softball pals is on the dept. so I dropped his name.

Your meter's a little bit off, and although I know you're going for some grotesque parody, the blunt simplicity of this takes away from all the mystery that could have been. Who said that they have the right to disclose info and to whom? Depending on who, I believe you have the right to say that you don't want that. You may want to look into it.

It's true in some situations... but not, like, where they can make you wear a sign or something.

What it means if you're determined to be a threat to others, their next-of-kin will be informed.. and if you're a threat to yourself, your parents will be informed. You can say whatever you want, but if you threaten self-violence they tell your parents, and if you threaten others with violence they tell the people.

But.. why did San Diego call you?

My daughters went to preschool for about 7 months.  They went MWF for 2 1/2 hrs a day, so they weren't there for long.  I think what they really learned from pre-school was how to play with other kids.  They taught them some alphabet, a letter each week, but mostly it was just for the kids to play and express themselves with art or whatever.  I'm sure he will have no problem being ready.  If there are some things he is weak in, they should let you know so that you can work with him over the summer.  For instance, Brooke has trouble with lower case alphabet and rhyming words.  So they asked me to help her in those areas.

My daughters went to preschool for about 7 months.  They went MWF for 2 1/2 hrs a day, so they weren't there for long.  I think what they really learned from pre-school was how to play with other kids.  They taught them some alphabet, a letter each week, but mostly it was just for the kids to play and express themselves with art or whatever.  I'm sure he will have no problem being ready.  If there are some things he is weak in, they should let you know so that you can work with him over the summer.  For instance, Brooke has trouble with lower case alphabet and rhyming words.  So they asked me to help her in those areas.

Well...today was Vaughn's kindergarten screening...it went very well!  At first Vaughn was a bit apprehensive about leaving me (to go with the teachers to the different rooms for screenings)...but then he was ok.  He ended up doing really well, and told me that he had LOTS of fun and is excited for kindergarten! What a relief!! ;D :D

YAY!!  So the issues you've been dealing with are probably normal for that age.  And I'm sure all the work you've been doing with him helped him to do so well.

I know we were concerned with Teela, upon her Kindergarten entry....but mainly for her social skills.
We worked VERY hard on her education, pretty much since birth.

Also, remember what they say: The first 5 yrs. of a child's learning determines how they learn for the rest of their life.

I would say that you & Chris are doing OK, if Vaughn's considered OK.

I was amazed at how behind some of the kids in Megan's class were.  One little girl didn't even know how to hold a pencil correctly.  :-\\

Our next door neighbor came over and said that she was mowing her lawn and decided to do ours, too.  :o :o :o  These were the same people who used to be total aholes all the time (you could hear them-every other word was "f" this or "f" that). Now, they are almost...human.  :o :o  I did mention how last year we asked them about getting some venison. She came over with some. I'm sorry about your cousin Andrew...and I'm also sorry that you feel that way.  Some things just cannot be explained for why they happen...and it's hard to understand why they do...but it doesn't make it any easier to get through the situation. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm feeling pretty good. I did some good bargaining.

My friends brother in law is a mechanic, in exchange for me helping my buddy stain his deck, he gave his ticket to the ballgame on friday to his brother in law who in turn is going to come with me and check out the BMW 5 series I'm considering purchasing.

I tested the car today and it drove well but there was a knocking from the engine and obviously, I want to know what problems I may face before I buy the car. It's a good model, newish, not too many miles, good condition apart from the sounds coming from the engine. Good price. If it's going to be a big engine rebuild then I'll forget it, but if I can fix it for less than a grand I'll buy the car.

Well, some good news, and some potentially bad news:

Good news- tomorrow's my Mom's birthday, and she believes she's ready for her issues to be dealt with.

Potentially bad news- tomorrow night, I have a conference with the owner of the establishment where I run my sessions, and find out whether he will ban the two jackasses who are trying to run me out, or if I have to get Restraining Orders.
(If I have to get R.O.s, one of them will be for threat of violence, which will waive a fee for me, at least.
Plus, I have witnesses to back me up.)

I am a patient man, when it comes to some things....but 6 1/2 yrs. of a petty war with one of these jeeters is enough. And I haven't even done anything to fire off on these scugs.

But I have finally had enough....and when I have my answer, the truth is gonna hit those two like a hammer on a gong.

Well, she did have a lot of help. She lives with her brother (my step-son) and I think her ex also helped out with her daughter from time to time. But still, we are SOOOOOO proud of her.

I'm having a very good week so far and it's been pretty busy at Pathmark so I can't complain.I've been there almost 2 months now.  :)

Details.  Hmm, I found out that im too old to drink the night away, wake up after hardly any sleep, then walk in the hot sun at a stupid flea market.    ;D

I went to Oahu and the Big Island.  I actually had more fun on the Big Island.  Im not a fan of alot of people, especially tourists.  Although, I was technically a tourist myself, I think that since I lived there for 3 years, im a different type of tourist.  The Big Island is probably my favorite of the islands for some reason.  We got to stay at a resort style hotel right on the rugged black rock beach.  It was pretty neat.  We also took a 2 hour helicopter ride to see the volcano eruption and some waterfalls.  The lava is currently tunneling underneath to the ocean, so we had to hover over a hole to see the lava bubbling underneath.  Pretty neat.  The waterfalls were in a deep canyon with very steep walls.  The pilot would sweep up as close the walls as he could get, it was great.  Then we had to go back to Oahu for the rest of the trip, but it was still fun.  We did some parasailing.  Took a ride on a speed boat across the ocean.  Took a sunset mai tai catamaran cruise.  1 1/2 hours of all you can drink beer and mai tai's.  I got a wee bit drunk.    :D  Other than that and the occaissional looking at girls in their swimsuits  8)  we ate good and had alot of laughs. 

I didn't bring any coffee, donkey balls (chocolate covered macanamia nuts), or pinneapples, but I had a few cookies with macadamian nuts in them.  :)

I called in to work sick today.  I didn't feel like talking to people on the phone after jet lag.  I dont really care if they believed if I was sick or not.

Well...I was feeling really crappy for most of the day today (especially in the afternoon), cuz I had some sinus pain and pressure that just wouldn't go away. Often times when the pain hits me it just knocks me out and I don't feel like doing anything. I couldn't even get myself up to take anything for it...but by the time I finally did, it was too late.

Now I'm feeling much better.

Sometimes when I'm not at home, that's not always doable. But today I was home all day, and I should've taken care of it pronto.

Details.  Hmm, I found out that im too old to drink the night away, wake up after hardly any sleep, then walk in the hot sun at a stupid flea market.    ;D

I went to Oahu and the Big Island.  I actually had more fun on the Big Island.  Im not a fan of alot of people, especially tourists.  Although, I was technically a tourist myself, I think that since I lived there for 3 years, im a different type of tourist.  The Big Island is probably my favorite of the islands for some reason.  We got to stay at a resort style hotel right on the rugged black rock beach.  It was pretty neat.  We also took a 2 hour helicopter ride to see the volcano eruption and some waterfalls.  The lava is currently tunneling underneath to the ocean, so we had to hover over a hole to see the lava bubbling underneath.  Pretty neat.  The waterfalls were in a deep canyon with very steep walls.  The pilot would sweep up as close the walls as he could get, it was great.  Then we had to go back to Oahu for the rest of the trip, but it was still fun.  We did some parasailing.  Took a ride on a speed boat across the ocean.  Took a sunset mai tai catamaran cruise.  1 1/2 hours of all you can drink beer and mai tai's.  I got a wee bit drunk.    :D  Other than that and the occaissional looking at girls in their swimsuits  8)  we ate good and had alot of laughs. 

I didn't bring any coffee, donkey balls (chocolate covered macanamia nuts), or pinneapples, but I had a few cookies with macadamian nuts in them.  :)

I called in to work sick today.  I didn't feel like talking to people on the phone after jet lag.  I dont really care if they believed if I was sick or not.

Ya, I got burned on the top of my head the day we went to the swap meet.  I felt like complete crap and wanted to puke.


I get them fairly frequently so they're usually not a big deal, at least to me.  People who rarely or never get them would probably think most of mine are pretty bad, but I've learned to function with one fairly well (they usually make such a big deal of it I usually don't say anything when I have one unless someone asks).  Then again, they would usually hit when no one else was around to help with the kids and stuff so I've not had much choice but to learn to deal with them.  I can usually keep a nasty one at bay by taking my medicine, but the one last night hit so quickly, the medicine didn't really help until I took the 2nd dose.  I haven't had a bad one like last night in a few months so it sucked.

Oh, and puking is no big deal because I do it so often with the headaches.  Sometimes I'll even make myself throw up (if I don't have my medicine handy) because it usually helps my head a little.  That's another thing that people are shocked at because most people hate to throw up :-\\

I got a haircut recently, which still needs to grow in. my hair's a lot shorter, I don't think I like the length.. but I like the way it lays a little better.

Going for my driver's license on the 28th, which was the earliest I could register for it.

I'm feeling quite frustrated...it seems like no matter how much I clean/organize this house...it just doesn't get clean enough for my liking. :(

You have to register for it?  Here in IL, you go down to the DMV whenever, wait FOREVER, take the written test, a short driving test and get your license.

Here, you make an appointment either over the phone or online.. and there's usually a two week waiting period, so the earliest you can hope for is about 16 days after the day you register.. when you get there, you show them your paperwork and then take a practical test.. all you have to do is parallel park and drive half a mile through a development at 35 MPH. Where you drive varies wildly, some places have courses, most of the ones around here you just drive through the nearby area.. the one I go to is near this little suburban neighborhood.

I passed the UK test fairly easily.. simply because I'd already been driving a while.. and had been taught by my Grandfather.. who was actually aware that there's more to knowing how to drive than making it go forwards and backwards, although I had to take the UK test twice, but that's typical because unlike here in the US, were the DMV is simply a government entity (or rather state entity as it were) in the UK, the License authority dealy is run like a business and they go out of their way to fail you to ensure maximum profits for them. They asked how many driving lessons I'd done and I said no, you could see the guy grinning thinking "Easy fail here." He really had to work at it to fail me. "You were holding up traffic." 'I was doing the limit..sir.'  ;D

I did the Missouri one a few years ago and it was easy, then when I moved back they had me do it again because of how long my license had been expired, then when I went for an Illinois license to my disgust they made me take the test again - at random.. apparently.. total profiling!  ;D - .. that actually involved a few maneuvers and such like, but they didn't even have me go out on the highway, which is something all tests should include. If it were up to me you'd have to be in the vehicle for at least 45 minutes, get on and off the highway, go on roads with at least 3 different speed limits, change lanes, do the whole stop sign, red light deal, show you can parallel park, do a 3 point turn etc. Then I'd also suggest that for those who want extra driver training for lower insurance premiums, they go on a skid pan and learn how to get out of skids, spins etc, also execute J-Turns and such like.

I know what you mean, Kim.  I used to get migraines frequently.  They would either last 3 days or until I threw up.  Only time I ever wished I would was to get one over with early.  Unfortunately that doesn't help my daughter.  I remember when I was about 8, we were down in Florida for vacation.  My parents, etc. went out to dinner, so my brother & I stayed home w/ my grandmother.  We were playing out in the street in front of the house and she was fixing dinner in the back of the house (the windows and doors were closed).  I had a migraine but my grandmother didn't believe in them, so I wasn't allowed to lie down in a dark, quiet room.  You know how sensitive to light and sound you get when you have one?  I could actually hear the pancakes sizzling (it sounded like it was magnified one million times right next to my ear).

I then had to feast on the rotting flesh of Major Ivan Petronesivich Nastalaya whilst the Nazi Hunters from Mossad stalked the area searching for me. Then, whilst hitch-hiking to Warsaw I was hit by a truck and left for dead at the side of the road. A bear bit my head off so I wrestled him, cut his guts open and sewed my own head back on using the bears nerves as thread. Then when I got to Warsaw and got on the plane it was hijacked by Kosovan separatists who wanted to crash it in to the Kremlin. I managed to overpower them and fly the plane singlehandedly to Vladivostok from which I swam to Anchorage in Alaska. I then walked home even though it was -60.

That was the worst day of my life.

Wednesday I had a sh*tty night at work and I decided I needed to go out afterwards and have a couple beers to unwind. I went to this bar down the street from the freight terminal and met up with Roger, this kid I work with. When I got there, there were these two older guys (in their 50's) from work, Roy and Vern, sitting at the other end of the bar and flirting with (which in Vern's case, was more like good-naturedly sexually harassing) these two women who worked at the bar.

Suddenly it hit me. I've been working with all these people for almost 2 years and I'd never seen it before, but it was perfect. I turned to Roger and asked him, "Hey Rog, did you ever see the old Muppet Show?" "Yeah," he replied (which surprised me a little because he's in his early 20's and I figured The Muppet Show was before his time). "You remember the two old guys who sat up in the balcony and gave everyone else a hard time?" "Yeah?" Roger replied. I then gestured towards Roy and Vern and said, "That's them!" Roger about fell out of his chair. The resemblance was uncanny, especially with how they'd make all these smartass remarks and then guffaw loudly. I then repeated what I told Roger to a couple of other people who were sitting near us and they all howled when I told them that.

I just had to tell Roy and Vern about it, and when I went over there Vern was like, "I seen you all laughing over there, what the hell is so goddamn funny?" I told him about the Muppet thing and he almost fell out of his chair too. (Roy never saw The Muppet Show but he got a real kick out of it as well.)

It was a good end to a bad night.

Feeling pretty bad today.  I got an e-mail yesterday from my Head of department.  they're not going to support my application for leave of absence.  I just feel totally rejected by them


So what are you going to do? Are you and Dai still going to go or does he want you to stay with your job?
Can't you take it any higher up, that seems like bollocks, you've been with the University for years, they're being a bunch of wankers not giving you a leave of absence. Maybe you could compromise with them and not take the full period off that he will be there, maybe just a half or three quarters of the time.

I'm rather annoyed right now....I saw the doctor last night and he couldn't tell what was going on in the x-rays but he said something was definitely up (either a fracture or torn ligament) so he was going to have the orthopedist read them stat....well, I just called and the ortho hasn't looked at them yet....it's 12:30, not exactly what I'd call "STAT." >:(  In the meantime, I'm sitting here in pain with a splint that's too big so it's not really doing jack squat >:( >:(

Wednesday I had a sh*tty night at work and I decided I needed to go out afterwards and have a couple beers to unwind. I went to this bar down the street from the freight terminal and met up with Roger, this kid I work with. When I got there, there were these two older guys (in their 50's) from work, Roy and Vern, sitting at the other end of the bar and flirting with (which in Vern's case, was more like good-naturedly sexually harassing) these two women who worked at the bar.

Suddenly it hit me. I've been working with all these people for almost 2 years and I'd never seen it before, but it was perfect. I turned to Roger and asked him, "Hey Rog, did you ever see the old Muppet Show?" "Yeah," he replied (which surprised me a little because he's in his early 20's and I figured The Muppet Show was before his time). "You remember the two old guys who sat up in the balcony and gave everyone else a hard time?" "Yeah?" Roger replied. I then gestured towards Roy and Vern and said, "That's them!" Roger about fell out of his chair. The resemblance was uncanny, especially with how they'd make all these smartass remarks and then guffaw loudly. I then repeated what I told Roger to a couple of other people who were sitting near us and they all howled when I told them that.

I just had to tell Roy and Vern about it, and when I went over there Vern was like, "I seen you all laughing over there, what the hell is so goddamn funny?" I told him about the Muppet thing and he almost fell out of his chair too. (Roy never saw The Muppet Show but he got a real kick out of it as well.)

It was a good end to a bad night.

Thanks. I hope I can find the solution somewhere. I CAN'T go to my brother (the computer guru) because he will give me holy hell if he knew that I bought a computer without consulting him first. I was talking to my sister the other day and I told her and said not to tell him. She knew what I was talking about because her son made the mistake of telling my brother he bought a Dell and man, my poor nephew never heard the end of it (and he is only 14). I really don't want to go to Dell either because I have a hard time understanding people from India who have no idea what they are talking about.  ::)

Generally they are good even if they are outsourcing to India.  Im sorry to say, most tech support is becomming that way.  Only other option, find someone who knows about computers, aka your brother, or learn how to fix yourself.  LoL.  Any company has those personnel that cant help worth a sheeshe, and I guess you happened to have one that day.  The problem is, it only takes one time to make a bad impression.  Any problems that I had with a Dell, their customer support helped out big time.  And they weren't simple fixes either.  One time it was recovering from the blue screen of death and corrupt files in windows.  I do alot of my own troubleshooting by searching the web, but I think the web browsers were your problem before right?  He He.  I work a helpdesk and I get annoyed when the first thing out of someones mouth is, my computers broke.  Well, thanks, that narrowed it down a bit.  Its instant brain meltdown and I start thinking about other things.  What is wrong with it?  I dont know, its just broke. Hmm, thanks.  The best are those who demand stuff from you.  Have the "its all your fault" attitude and whiny.  They must have me confused with someone who cares.    ;)   And my manager says, answer every phone call with a smile on your face.  The customer will automatically be calmed down because they know you are smiling.  Umm, WTF!!!  Needless to say, this is one of the reasons I put my 2 weeks in.  ;D

Thats the better way I think.    :)  I still have alot to learn, but trying to learn is where it counts.  Its like not knowing anything about a car and expecting a mechanic to do a good job.  I have taken the time to know how to change a tire, but after that, im pretty much out of luck.

Thank you.  Most people would do it the conventional way of quitting after they have a job.  Its scary, but I have some money saved and not really worried about getting another job.  If all else fails, I move back to Utah and finish my degree.  Either way, life will go on.  Its better than being stuck in some bullcrap job.

I quit a job without having another one lined up-but I was planning to go back to school. I hated that job with a passion and started looking for a new job about a month after starting it.  ;D ;D  There were many, many days when I was ready to just walk out and never go back. The only difference is that while my eval was great (and like you no raise to go w/ it), I wasn't told I had topped out.  I feel your pain and frustration, believe me.  I have gotten great evals every year, but haven't seen a merit raise since my 2nd year here (and I've been here 10).  I know it doesn't help, but know that there are others in your situation.

New York is a neat city.  The Hard Rock Cafe there is probably one of my favorite.  It is just behind the one in Kona, Hawaii (Big Island).

My mother's Court hearing is 3 days after my birthday.
Her hearing is July 17th.

I'm feeling a little relieved, but not completely.  I called my mom to find out the latest test results on my dad.  Good new/bad news.  Bad news, he did have a silent heart attack, good news is that minimal damage was done to the lower part of his heart and he will not need any invasive procedures.  He is on 2 more meds and they will monitor him...plus he will be able to get his sleep apnea machine (he has severe) through the VA so it won't cost him.  Now if I could just get my mom to take care of her health!  ::)  (I think she wants to go to my daughter's orthopedic and ADD appts w/ me, but I don't want her to leave my dad alone.)

This is the way I look at it though and I could be totally wrong but...  If she's changed your status on her myspace, she's either mad at you or has moved on.  I would think that if she just "wasn't sure" she wouldn't have bothered to move you on her myspace yet.  What I would do is just give her about three weeks of space and if she still hasn't come around, it's probably time to move on.

This is so true.  I've had a guy do that to me once and so I chose to not see him anymore.

Well, she is definitely not mad at me, I know this. All I know is that she has clinical depression, and she mentioned it when telling me about "taking a break." In fact, she asked if we could take a break until she figures it out... But I have no clue what she's thinking now.

Clinical depression, huh?  That could really change things.  She could just be going through a "phase".  My husband gets depressed sometimes and it always sends him into a negative way of thinking.  Then it passes and everything is normal again, it's frustrating.

I've been interested in Existentialist philosophy lately...  I'm reading "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by Friedrich Nietzsche, and if I'm ambitious, I'm going to attempt to read "Being and Nothingness" by Jean-Paul Sartre.  I read the first section of the first chapter of that book yesterday, and sort of understood it after a while, but it was very complicated.

I've been interested in Existentialist philosophy lately...  I'm reading "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by Friedrich Nietzsche, and if I'm ambitious, I'm going to attempt to read "Being and Nothingness" by Jean-Paul Sartre.  I read the first section of the first chapter of that book yesterday, and sort of understood it after a while, but it was very complicated.


It's interesting if you can break down the intellectual boundaries. I don't tend to care for things that are clever for the sake of being clever.. but I don't know, it's very thought provoking.

What I was reading in that section of "Being and Nothingness" was elaborating on the refutation of traditional dualism in the sense of "essence versus appearance," stating that appearance is the measure of essence rather than the opposite of it.  That much was easy to comprehend.  The complicated part for me was where it talked about introducing a new dualism of "infinite and finite," which he later clarified as "the infinite inside the finite," which, assuming I read correctly, stated that the essence of any object can be manifested in an infinite series of manifestations, but that each of these individual manifestations are finite.

Seriously, totally lost.

Well, yeah, basically anything could happen in any way, but each action must end sometime. And everytime something happens, it opens new paths and closes old ones as to what else can happen - such as me typing this. I can no longer go back in time and not type it... And from here, you could reply and say I'm absolutely right, or tell me that I'm stupid and have no idea what I'm talking about. Oh, if only I were better at explaining and understanding, it would be fun to take philosophy. And I know this isn't what you were talking about, but it's pretty damn closely related.

I'm taking 'The Philosophy of Religion' at Uni this coming semester.. that's going to be interesting I'm sure, with my beliefs. That being said, I'm willing to listen.
