I thought I'd post one of my favorite Irish sayings:
"May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead."

Ah, yes, St. Patricks Day, the day of the Irish. Of course St. Patrick wasn't Irish, he was Welsh, emigrated into Ireland(unlike the generations that left), the first parade was not in Ireland but in New York, and St Patrick was a the first known person to write unequivocally for the abolition of slavery, unlike the the parade goers who were unequivocally against abolition. "Oh Danny Boy"(one of my most favorite songs), will be sung in bars and parties all over as the most Irish of songs(written by an Englishman)whole drinking green beer. It is all so confusing. ::)

Oh Danny Boy, set to the tune of the Londonderry Air.

by Frederick E. Weatherly, it brings a tear to my eye, I absolutely love the song.
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

It would have been more fun if the weather hadn't been so cold. I did get a kick out of how they dyed it though. :)

The Irish Cricket Team in the Cricket World Cup did the best thing for St Patrick's Day, by beating Pakistan, a team far superior team.
