go to work at 10am, get off at 630pm, come home and cook up a mess of hotdogs and polish dogs for our poker buddies. I sure hope Lady Di wins tonight. she is so due for victory over the dudes. that would make her night. I gotta tell her to be ruthless & unmerciful and to bluff these boys once in awhile. bust em down. It was me against her in the finals last time we played and I ended up winning. We'll be up late playing cards and rocking out to groovy music all night.

Possibly going up to Decathlon (sports clothing shop) to get some more stuff for work. Trying to get kit organised here because the final year students will be starting their projects soon. This year there are loads of students all wanting to use the same kit so it's going to be a big juggling act trying to keep everything together.

Today it's work, then food shopping for when our visitors come next week. If there is time I also have to get outside and dig up half a flower bed in my garden so the fence people can come and replace the fence. Not the best time of year for digging up poor plants but rather that thean they get trampled to death by workmens boots.

Today I have to do food shopping, I haven't had anything in the house for days and have had to resort to the lunch truck at work, which can be expensive, as well as a bit dangerous. Have to pick up some warm weather work gear. I have been lucky up to now, but we are putting together a crane and it is supposed to be very cold Monday so I won't escape the outside on this. Then Jake has swimming.

last night i went to bed relatively early, and it's funny cuz i dreamed i was on this board, and then i dreamed i was eating something on the road and all my gear was loaded up in the car and i was worried someone would try and steal it.

and now i gotta pack up some gear to go meet with the band and try out a new singer. i'll probably... grab something on the road which i hate doing cuz i have to leave all the stuff in the car and i always worry someone will try and steal it.

dreams that strictly mirror real life -- i'm betting that's not a good sign.

Doing a biiiiiig listing on E-Bay.

I have an old but very fancy cassette deck that I'm getting rid of. I've seen them for about $150 on E-Bay and then the big one. The Technics reel to reel with 25 'tapes'. Considering the tapes sell for $30-50 each.. :) ;D

i like the guy on a personal level, too, so it's even worse. the drummer hates him, so i was sorta like, okay, YOU fire him then, and tell us how it goes. but no dice, we all have to do it. :-\\

in the old band there was this dude who used to LIKE to fire people. he had rage issues, i guess, and just got a kick out of it, i guess. so we'd all be, okay, we gotta get rid of this guy, how do we do it? and he'd just be, don't worry, i got it. then he'd just email us the next day, 'all right, done. he's gone.'

that was kinda a relief though i bet he didn't handle it as well as he could've. ;D

I don't envy doing that, but if it's the best move for the band and for the most part it's business and not personal, then ya gotta tell him he's the weakest link.

honestly, i just hate the thought of what the guys would do if they ever saw this site. i really think it would weird andre out, he's so touchy about anything that might even be remotely interpreted as "gay." (heh, i said "touchy.") and here i am, 'tia.' he'd probably totally freak.

good for you then and I know Boundary Oaks well, It's in Walnut Creek right? one of my most wild after work parties began there , me my friend Al and about 10 ladies and then the party moved on and that was one of my rare blackout nights where i didn't remember how i got home to poor Lady Di. :o

I've been listing a ton of stuff on E-Bay.
I was casually getting rid of my crap (I'm now resigned to the fact that there'll be no more work in before I go home to the states) but then my friend and his new wife decided they had too much stuff for their house and asked me to get rid of a ton of it.

Thus, I'm now in a rush to get it all listed and sold. :) Excellent.

I slept in until noon, then I decided to call over our friends and have a small superbowl gettogether. It turned out excellent. Our fellow vacationeers came by, so it was only the 4 of them and us, nice small group, which is what i wanted for today. We had some good food and watched the football game, then played some cards, I washed dishes and made me a lunch for work tomorrow, and am now getting in my first inthe00s time of the day since last night.

I was late into work this morning because I was stuck at home waiting for some workmen. Someone is cutting down a couple of trees in the back garden and was supposed to come between 8 and 8.30. He rang at 8.40 to say he was going to be late! We are also having a new bathroom fitted this week. That guy said he'd be around between 9 and 9.30 and he came at 10.00.

This afternoon I am helping out with an experiment and chasing up on some e-mails I'm waiting for.

Do you any lagging around your pipes. I'd suggest foam rubber tubes with fiberglass shoved down the sides as well.

after work I went to visit some close friends that go on vacation we us every year. I've made something similar with chicken breasts, cream of chicken soup (because they won't eat it if I use any other "cream" variety) and Stove Top stuffing (I've also done a similar one with rice, but that one works better in the oven). I tried it once with the spices and they wouldn't eat that, either. Any recipe I use can't have any small pieces of anything, no celery, no onions, etc. When I make spaghetti sauce, my oldest won't eat it so he just has noodles & butter ::) I have 3 cookbooks with nothing but Crock Pot recipes in them ;)

Got the kids up and ready for school, paid for said school, came home and made breakfast for George, posted a bit, picked the kids up and headed over to the Pier 1 in town because they are closing and everything is 50% off and up. I found a $175.00 table for $65.00. Went to Target and got the kids a My Little Pony movie and Spanglish for myself. Now I'm here.

I may actually get around to clearing off my desk even. Well that's the plan so far anyways.

I want a crock pot. What type do you guys recommend? I know Rival makes them, but they used to return a lot of those when I worked at Target.
I've always had Rivals and the only problem I've ever had is one of the crocks broke (which was my fault). I'm hoping to get stuff packed up today to send to you.....if it will fit in the box, I'll send you one (or maybe I'll just meet Rice at school someday)
That's because I can't tolerate clutter. And other than the dishes, I don't mind cleaning.
Drop Rice off at the train, pack Jason up and come on over.....I'll pay you in crock pots, clothes, books, toys and movies ;D

And, of course, the ONE day I say that, we actually GOT to the book.....luckily we were talking about her writing style so I was able to ascertain that from the little I read :)

a local retail store....we sell everything from housewares, to foods, to health & beauty. It's not a bad part-time job. As soon as Vaughn starts kindergarten...I am going to try to get a full-time job within a local school district (as a secretary, building aid, or para-professional)....then I will finish my degree at night.

thanks, the spaghetti sauce came out pretty good when i first made it, and since I had extra I chose to save it and it worked out nicely.

I bought another dress too...just in case I decide that I hate the first one. ::) That one is black with white polka dots. actually my interest level heightened. the 2nd one sounds like the dress Julia Roberts wore at the Polo fields with Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, but i think it was green with white dots. In about 15 minutes I'm off to a boring ass 'Local Business Dinner Dance' dealy as the representative of my Father's company and also the contracting group that about 60% of our work comes from...

Uuurrggghhh.. it's free beer, free food and a little fun dancing around like an idiot... but it's also an hour of speeches from old men who haven't seen their toes in a decade.
I shall report later.

Wasn't all that bad. Speeches were kept to a minimum and most of the dullards were gone by 11, which gave us fun folk about 3 hours in which to take advantage of the free food, beer and band policy.

When they were giving me my vaccinations for school, I took one look at the needle and ran out of the room, down the hallway, and I almost made it to the door of the clinic. They had to hold my ass down.

Helped out with one experiment today (should have been two but the other person didn't turn up). Students in running their pilot experiments, demonstrating kit to another student, arranging appointments for next week for more students........

All the family are going out tonight to the orienteering club dinner and dance. Nothing like as formal as Andy's do ^ home made stew with pasta or jacket potato followed by cheesecake or gateau. then a barn dance. Should be fun though

Yeah... I had to wear a tie and sports jacket. Felt like such a nark.

get used to it, if you become a cop, and then later on a detective, that will be standard daily apparel. you should try campus police at a university. I applied at UC Berk and passed the written but failed the oral,you'd probably pass and they're regular cops, they got guns and everything 8)

Well....Chris, Vaughn, and I went to dinner at Chick-Fil-A...and then we went to look at new frames (glasses) for me. It's been WAY too long since I've had my eyes checked...I found this awesome pair...I will definitely look like a cool cat in them! 8) I think I will make an appt next week to get that done.

I want to get new frames because the ones I have keep getting stretched out. Thing is I don't need a new perscription and only wear them at night or in the morning so it's not really a priority.

Well we went to the Special Olympics qualifier and lost 2 out of 2, but Jake was the high scorer on the team(well he is the "go to guy"). Luckily most of the kids really aren't hot on win or lose, they just like to play. They did a great job and blue ribbons all around. :)

I had a great time last night, thank you. By the way...I must correct myself in my previous post above. My parents didn't win the tickets; they bought them from the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts last year. Over the past couple years, they've been watching these programs on PBS with doo wop bands and artists, and enjoying the music so much (it was popular during my parents' childhood). So when they heard about an upcoming concert featuring Johnny Maestro w/ the Brooklyn Bridge, Diamond Dave Somerville, the Penguins, and the Duprees, they decided to see about getting tickets for the show, and taking along my grandma (who loves the Duprees, since they're Italian). So yeah, the show was great. O0

And today, as I mentioned in another thread, I finally made it to the mall to get my chocs. The place was busy and well-stocked.

So we didn't go out on Friday after all because the snow was so bad. Not bad here just near the venue.

Saturday was spent doing Saturday stuff (running the children around their various classes and trying to get some food shopping done)

On Sunday we went to the Peak District for an orienteering event. My husband was organising it and I was helping him. The weather was lovely and the snow was thawing all the time. Driving back home I had to go through some small area of flooding.

At work today. A student is in at the moment piloting her experiment and around lunchtime I helping out with another experiment. More students in this afternoon.

Finally had the car towed Saturday to the mechanic, heard yesterday from them that it'll be a $300 repair :\'( But it's still worth it to not have the hubby out in the frigid cold trying to fix it on his own. Apparently the starter went out and also something called a serpentine belt (which apparently is really hard to get at if you don't have a car lift.) So hopefully we'll be able to catch a bus this morning to go pick up the car once again.

Also just did a load of dishes and washed my hair (not at the same time) and finally cleaned out all those plastic bags from underneath the sink (I had almost two trash bags full - I swear they multiply in there - I don't think I want to contemplate plastic bag reproduction.)
Feels like I've been terribly busy already and it's only 7 a.m.

Holiday? what holiday? I have hit the ground running at work today, I'm already exhausted!
I got in at 8.30, but don't start until 8.45 and my boss rang for some figures covering last week when I was off before my arse had even touched my computer chair. ::) I have been on the hoof ever since.

I had a great time last night, thank you. By the way...I must correct myself in my previous post above. My parents didn't win the tickets; they bought them from the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts last year. Over the past couple years, they've been watching these programs on PBS with doo wop bands and artists, and enjoying the music so much (it was popular during my parents' childhood). So when they heard about an upcoming concert featuring Johnny Maestro w/ the Brooklyn Bridge, Diamond Dave Somerville, the Penguins, and the Duprees, they decided to see about getting tickets for the show, and taking along my grandma (who loves the Duprees, since they're Italian). So yeah, the show was great. O0

And today, as I mentioned in another thread, I finally made it to the mall to get my chocs. The place was busy and well-stocked.

Oh yeah, those are a lot of fun to watch on PBS. One of my co-workers loaned me an entire set of DVD's of performances of Doo-Wop groups/singers. I haven't watched them yet, but I'm sure they'll be a lot of fun.

I am happy to hear you were able to get your chocolates. I hope you have a great time passing them out on Wednesday. :)

Oh yeah, those are a lot of fun to watch on PBS. One of my co-workers loaned me an entire set of DVD's of performances of Doo-Wop groups/singers. I haven't watched them yet, but I'm sure they'll be a lot of fun.

I actually haven't watched 'em in great detail, but yeah, they can be fun. Seeing these groups perform live is more fun than watching them on TV. :)

Working today. I had class earlier and we were learning the physiology of a muscle and man, that stuff is complicated - and we just brushed it over mainly - but still! :o

After class, I realised the sound of something falling that I heard during class were my sunglasses out of my pocket. Either somebody will find them and take them to lost and found, or they'll remain whereever they fell until I get to class next week. Until then, I'll just use my back up sunglasses.

I also was able to go to the LRC-3 and make a copy of a fake mid-term to study from. So, I'm all set for my mid-term which is on the 20th.

Ok...so I worked tonight......and 1/2 hr. before I was done, my manager told us we could go home because it was really bad outside. So...I go out to my car...and the entire parking lot, car...everything had like an inch thick of ice. I had to scrape it for like 1/2 hr....and the trip home was crappy...I am really happy to be safe in my house!
yeah, subway ride home was... unREAL. dag, it's a disaster out there.

although not so bad for me cuz i managed to finagle a seat. ;D but i felt sorry for those poor bastards packed in like lemmings. prime route and what happened was, everybody got let out early cuzza the wintry mix, but metro was still running on a 3 pm schedule. it was... sick.

The son was supposed to take me out for dinner, but it is payday around here too so everything is going to be too crazy for us to handle.
So instead, he is going to make dinner and we are going to hang out, watch some tv and such.

Today was spent with Chris unclogging our frozen/clogged sewage drain (double yuck). He had to go and buy a 25 ft. eel/snake to unclog it...finally he did it. Then...he had to bleach the entire basement. I give him a big A+ for all of the hard work he did today.
Just as an FYI, you might want to look into some of the bacteria stuff that they make for septic systems. Even if you're not on one, it will keep it from happening again. It used to happen to my MIL quite a bit and one plumber that they had to call out to clear it told her about it. She started using it and hasn't had any problems since. I think it's called "SeptiCare" or something like that. I know they have it at Menards and Home Depot and stores like that.

Just got back from a nice lunch with my friend and her baby girl (who is sooooooo sweet :)) and waiting for the kids to get home so we can run and get me a new windshield wiper for the back window so I might actually be able to see out of it since all the one that's on there now (and when I had the front ones changed, they didn't do the back one) does nothing but smear the roadcrud on the window :P

Nah.....Lost in Translation is truly, I think....his best work. He should have gotten the Oscar for that. It was something not typical of him, and he played it so well.

I will probably have my hairdresser do my hair for this summer. I usually go a bit lighter in the summer (I might have her put some caramel colored highlights in).....but right now, my hair is currently dark brown/auburn. BUT...I definitely need it cut very soon...it's getting out of hand! :D

sleeping soon, and then another day at the office but I do get to go to a coworkers 40th anniversary luncheon at some all you can eat place. Should be cool, we get a 2 hour lunch, all paid for. but it's not really free because the price I'll pay is that I'll have to be nice to her and say nice things about her as a fellow hard working, exemplary employee.
I did finally buy a stereo cabinet for my new stereo, but it was hard to find a nice wooden cabinet that I liked so I had to order it online.

At work Sorting out equipment for one of the lecturers. Chasing up info for another. I'm hoping the plumber will come today and fit the washing machine that we've been waiting for since before Christmas. Going out for lunch with colleagues because an overseas visitor is leaving this weekend.

At home I am hoping the boiler man will finish today. We're having the boiler replaced so we've been without heating since Monday and had no hot water since Tuesday evening.

went to work, took a long lunch at the all you can eat chinese buffet for my friends work annivesary. she's been there forever. went back to work and worked my ass off trying to get as much done as possible since I am taking tomorrow off as a birthday gift to myself and also taking Monday off. Stopped at the grocery store on the way home, picked up a few things for tomorrow nights poker party at my place. washed some dishes, threw some towels in the wash, hung up some of my clothes in the closet, shredded some junk mail and picked up the place and am now after I put towels in dryer, my chores will be done and I'll enjoy some hot tea and watch the clock slowly make it's way to midnight and then I will be 51. :o

Going to the bank to deposit my paycheck, then taking a 6 hour Road Trip where I'll take flowers to my moms grave, maybe look up an old friend, revisit my old hometown for a bit and then come back home to Lady Di and have an evening of Texas Hold Em poker with friends. and maybe we'll have a nice chocolate birfday cake with a whole bunch of candles on it 8)

I went to a big trade show and talked shop with vendors.

A lot of it was on the renewable energy source deals. I've been investing a lot of time and effort in that.

The basic concept is this. My father's company (that I have been heading up) is now involved in the installation of solar panels on houses over a specific region of the country. The idea is, he builds up capital on this and expands. He wants to start up in the US as well, so when I get back I'm gonna be jumping on that.

Today is Saturday and I usually go to the cinema, but I'm not going today. Instead I'm going to an art and craft shop called Tiranti's to buy some Premo Sculpey for a college project. After that I'm going to McDonald's for lunch.

because of all the darn candles ;D we have a number 5 candle from last year and used a regular one beside it to look like 51 so the flames were not too bad. We played lots of poker tonight and the birthday boy was the BIG winner. I beat Lady Di in the first game to win the 1st place prize of $30. Diane won $20 for 2nd place. The other 3 guys got eliminated so it was her & me the finals & I won. In the 2nd game it was her and me again and she finally came through with some good cards and Diane won 1st place & I took 2nd. We played for 6-1/2 hrs. Everyone finally left and just now cleaned up and thinking about gettin some sleep.

Today started out totally normal, then got weirder as the day progressed. Went to lunch with my parents and brother, that was normal. Then I bought a Buzz Lightyear Pez dispenser, don't know why, just weird. Then my daughter got a call from a friend who went to look at a house to rent for when they go to college, and her parents decided that it would be cheaper for them to just build a house, so that's what they're going to do, supposedly. :o So, they're going to build a house a few minutes from the college for her, their son, my daughter and another girl to live in. Today started out like total shit. Vaughn, Chris, and I were all fighting and not getting along at all. I told Chris that I refused to go anywhere with him (we had plans for this evening)...so he left and dropped off Vaughn at my parent's house. So, while he was out, I met up with an old pal...you all might know him, his name is Capt. Morgan....I tipped my elbow a bit...and then Chris came back to pick me up...I was all giddy and decided to go. I ended up having a good time. :D ;D

had a busy day today. A friend of my husband's gave us a ride to the grocery store (we can and do go on the bus to the grocery too, but it's just easy, faster and less harsh on the frozen food items if we can get a ride from one of his friends.) So I ran around the store like a madwoman, as I don't like to be too much of a burden on people. On Wednesday, when we get paid, we'll get the car fixed and won't have to bother anyone anymore.

Came home, put everything away, and realized I bought hamburger meat, but it was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, it was left in the truck of his friend's car, so my hubby called just to make sure he took it out, as it would not be smelling too good after a very short time. blech.

I ran the sweeper, at least until it started smelling like it was burning. Then hubby took it apart and dug out all my hair (I have long hair so it gets tangled up in the bristles of the vacuum.) Then he and I started to sort through our books (I have 10 bookcases crammed full, plus probably a good 20 milk crates full of books.) I really need to get rid of alot of this stuff. I made dinner, talked to my mom and dad on the phone. We watched t.v. for awhile (watched the movie, Alex and Emma) then laid down to take a nap. Now we're awake again.

I probably will do dishes later, as I didn't get to them yesterday like I'd planned.

See, I never had to deal with Catholic school, so I wouldn't know. And the church that I went to had hippie priests. Hell, I went to Midnight Mass this past Christmas, and the priest was stressing that EVERYONE should be accepted, including gays and lesbians. I wanted to applaud.

Catholic school for me was a way of defining my faith, not ruining it. I'm a very progressive Catholic, I have views the mainstream Church does not support. Which is fine by me. I believe my way and feel how I feel in accordance to what I think is right. I think a lot of the Catholic dogma is just not acceptable in a 21st century society.

negative. You've moved music from your old computer to new one? I've got the directions how, just the darn internet on the old PC wouldn't fire up for some reason. First I want to put the music on a flash drive, then I need to update Itunes version 6 to version 7 on the old PC, but I couldn't get an internet connection on the old PC. Since it's viral he can't give you anything either. I've found that Ibuprofen based pain killers work well on ear ache. Try also doing some steam inhalation. that's pretty good at clearing the gunkiness.

Went to school and took my first Anatomy mid-term and I think I did fairly well. About 3/4 of the class was still there when I left, but I knew to be careful, so I stayed probably longer than I needed just to make sure I didn't mark a question wrong.

I am at work now, and plan to run home for lunch and then return to work. I will now be focusing on my Nutrition mid-term which is March 8th.

Tried to fix the turn signal on my husbands car. I bought a new flasher, but that didn't fix it. I read online that it could be a problem with the tail light.....sounds like it's going to be work. Other than that...I went out to find some more stuff for the goodie bags for my daughter's b-day.
it's probably just the bulb. good for you doing that on your own or at least trying to fix it. you repair cars and are a fulltime mom :o you're awesome

I'm not ruling out the bulb, but we just replaced it during the summer...I'm wondering if it's the socket. I've always thought it would be cool to be a mechanic. Never did it because I thought that I'd never feel comfortable being bent over and engine in front of a bunch of men all day. ::)

Well....sometimes the blinker blinks normally, but most of the time it lights up but doesn't blink. Also, the back tail light on the right side, which is the one we changed this summer, is dim and this is the same side that we are having the blinker problem.

I wasn't too nervous. I went at it for 2 hours and then didn't have enough time to take the test afterwards because the lab was closing at 9pm. I was bummed. :(

February is the second month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. It is the shortest month and the only month with fewer than 30 days. The month has 29 days in leap years, when the year number is divisible by four (except for years that are divisible by 100 and not by 400 in the Gregorian calendar). In common years the month has 28 days. Leap year birthdays are usually celebrated on the 28th in a non-leap year. Some believe that February originally had 29 days (30 in a leap year), but that idea was invented by Sacrobosco during the Middle Ages. See Month lengths.

February was named after the Latin term februum, which means purification, via the purification ritual Februa held on February 15 in the old Roman calendar. January and February were the last two months to be added to the Roman calendar, since the Romans originally considered winter a monthless period. They were added by Numa Pompilius about 700 BC. February remained the last month of the calendar year until the time of the decemvirs (c. 450 BC), when it became the second month. At certain intervals Roman priests inserted an intercalary month, Intercalaris, into the middle of February to realign the year with the seasons. See from Roman to Julian. Thereafter, it remained the second month of the calendar year, meaning the order that months are displayed (January, February, March, …, December) within a year-at-a-glance calendar. Even during the Middle Ages, when the numbered Anno Domini year began on March 25 or December 25, February continued to be the second month whenever all twelve months were displayed in order.

February begins, astronomically speaking, with the sun in the constellation of Capricornus and ends with the sun in the constellation of Aquarius. Astrologically speaking, February begins with the sun in the sign of Aquarius and ends in the sign of Pisces.

Historical names for February include the Anglo-Saxon terms Solmoneth (mud month) and Kale-monath (named for cabbage) as well as Charlemagne's designation Hornung. In Finnish, the month is called helmikuu, meaning "month of the pearl".

Many people pronounce "February" with a round 'u' instead of an open 'u' vowel, which forces the first 'r' to be eclipsed, viz. 'FEB-yoo-wair-ee' instead of 'FEB-roo-air-ee.' That is, it elides into first half of the trailing diphthong. Otherwise, the flanking mid vowel ('e') and back vowel ('u'), combined with the final -ry syllable (front vowel 'ee') make the 'br' difficult for Anglophones to pronounce in the first place. The problem does not usually arise for Scotiaphones, however. The Scottish names for the month are "Feberwary" and "Februar," the latter usually pronounced with a long "ay" vowel in the first syllable.

Paradigmic analogy with January, which can only be pronounced with a round 'u' vowel, is another likely source for the employment of a round 'u' in February
