Well what actually happened was this was in my freshman year and I kept asking her out, even though she kept saying no. I didn't want to take no for an answer. I'd even try to sit with her at lunch and she'd always tell me to f off, and we had journalism class together and I'd always sit at the computer beside the one she was working on.

Finally she got p!ssed enough to tell the principal, who told me to leave her alone so I did.

Then I became the opposite after that, I can't approach women in real life at all.

I'm sure we've all experienced a case where you liked someone but you knew it would never ever happen. Such was the case with my high school band director. God, he was just prefect. Cute, very intelligent, and he treated everyone like they were special. God, I'm such a sucker. But he's married to some hag. I used to sit in the band room and fill page after page in my journal about him. Badfinger-fan thinks that my band director knew about my crush on him. Makes me wonder.

Seriously though, I've had more than a few instances of this happening to me with different girls over the years, so I can sympathize with you guys. Usually because (1) they were either already taken, (2), they thought of me as just a friend, or (3) I was too chicken to ask them out in the first place, fearing they wouldn't think I was interesting/cute/cool enough.

#3 was more when I was around 12-16 (I had the same personality as now, but wasn't as confident). The other two still kinda apply today.

gawd, i sure did worship amy van horn back in 7th, 8th grade. i'd never even have the courage to talk to her, i tried a couple times and i would just lock up with fear. she ended up dating a friend of mine later, after college, and i got to be pretty decent friends with her. she said she didn't really know anyone in 7th, 8th grades. maybe she was too cute or too unapproachable or something, she intimidated everyone. who knows.

I deeply cared for one girl who didn't want me, but it's good now, because she sucks. She lost everything that made her amazing two years ago. God, that was a dreadful time for me.

That was Bobby Bickel!! That bastard!  I used to sleep over at Jackie's house just to be around Bobby. He would flirt with me and mess around with me after everyone had gone to bed.. but then he'd be a total ice cube the next morning.  And his standard line was " It's too complicated, I don't want to wreck your friendship with my sister, I can't deal with the hassle"  . God.. we were like a cheap 25cent jukebox country song.. Sneaking around at night, and acting like everything was cool during the day.   Still burns my butt to think about it. My senior year I had SUCH a big crush on this girl named Mary who was in my circle of friends. I didn't have the guts to tell her but I'm sure she knew. She was on Prom Court with me(and I secretly hoped we would both win so badly, I even dreamed about it) and some of her campaign posters got torn down by jerks, so I made some new ones for her myself. I was such a dork.


She looked kind of like Katie Holmes, but more full-figured and intelligent.

Yup! 1985, August to be exact. That was at the state fair, we had just gotten off the bumper boats.  I was about to start my senior year of highschool.  The picture with the janitor, you can see I had that mullet hair, Richard Marx look going on.

I did a few times. The most painful experiences come from those sorts of loves. Right now, I'm with the man of my dreams, but I thought the two of us ever getting together would be a near impossible happening. It happened, but I really never, ever saw it coming!

I saw him a couple years ago at his dad's funeral. He didn't age too well.. His face looks a bit craggy and he's lost quite a bit of hair..  His birthday was just yesterday! He  turned 43.  Funny how I still remember all this, right? Did I mention I was obsessed with him back in the day? LOL. :D

My one and only requited love story took place a VERY VERY long time.  Even though I dated other people, I still thought maybe someday my friend would wake up and see how great a girl I was.  ;D  Didn't happen.

I had just moved to a new school in 3rd grade and Jeff became my friend.  He had this shy way about him and this grin from ear-to-ear.  That Christmas I sent him a "secret pal" Christmas card, but then I asked him about it after break, so I don't know what the heck I thought I was being secret for.  ;D

So anyways, to make a long story short (too late).  We stayed friends at school, although we never went out after school even as friends.  I thought maybe about asking him to homecoming in high school, but chickened out.  He never made any moves to indicate that he was interested in me romantically.  Still was friendly though.  Graduate high school, he gets a job in the dairy aisle at the local grocery store, I end up buying alot of dairy products over those years.  ::)  Still friendly and we'd talk at his work, he never asked me out.  Surely it was obvious that I thought he was awesome?  OK, fast forward about 5 years to our 5 year high school class reunion, he brings a girl to it (so I know he wasn't gay.lol ( I was beginning to wonder.)  Fast forward another 10 years, we still send Christmas cards to each other every year (since 3rd grade).  I end up getting married, THEN Jeff comes to visit me at work and starts hanging around.. ..great timing!  Not interested now, ya jerk! 
Fast forward yet another year, my marriage dissolves so I get divorced, Jeff comes back into the library, starts talking to me, finds out I've gotten divorced, then STOPS hanging out with me.  All of a sudden a light goes on in my head...one of those AHA! moments, he doesn't like me in that way, there will NEVER be anything other then friendship, just because he sends me a Christmas card each year does not mean there is a possibility of something else developing.  Gawd I'm stupid.  And that is the story of my pathetic unreuited love.  It last goodness, 24 years???  Somebody should have slapped long ago.  But that's ok, happily married now, he doesn't know what he's missing. lol
Still...everytime I see Randy Travis on the television, I think of Jeff cause that's what he looked like kinda.  Boyish face with a sh*t-eating grin...  His last year's Christmas card said that he had a little girl now, but never married the mother, so I guess maybe destiny finally speaks to me, cause I always just wanted to get married to nice guy that loved me.  and I did.  :)

unrequited love. I thought these 2 chicks in high schoo, Kris & Julie were goddess's and were everything a guy could want but I was a jock turned stoner & they were the A-group, hottie cheerleader, songleader most popular kid types, involved in everything. At least we knew each other & they would smile and greet me, but I wasn't part of that group & could only fantasize about being their boyfriend. I could have easily fallen in love with either.  Earlier this year, i was shopping on Ebay & was able to aquire 2 of my yearbooks that I never got because I spent my yearbook money on drugs  8) . I got the annuals & of course looked up the former crushes & now they look like kids, geez, my daughter is that age now, but here's the kicker. The yearbooks belonged to a former classmate who happened to be the football/sports star, big man on campus that was ultra popular. He had all those chicks fawning for him. The yearbook signings included those girls & all the hottest chicks in school. This guy had it all in high school. Reading the signings was like reading a diary, all the girls telling him how cute he was & how glad they were to be friends with him. As a joke I told lady Di about my crushes & that I was going to white out his name & put  my name & imagine those girls all wrote those things to me. is that pathetic or what. I wasn't serious, I was only joking & her being the kind understanding wife who's seen my antics for 20+years simply shook her head and walked away laughing .         my unrequited love

Speaking of yearbooks...it brought to mind a guy that just transferred to my school my sophomore year (back in 1985)...he sat in front of me in Algebra class.  When I asked him to autograph the yearbook, he took it and wrote in the back spine of the pages "I just wanted to be the first to sign your crack", grinned at me and gave it back. 

That was funny as hell, especially since I barely knew him.  I suppose that was unreqited lust or something...  :D

I remember that one!  "I'm writing in your crack, does it tickle?" LOL
