Subject: Black tea 'soothes away stress'
Written By: Philip Eno on 10/05/06 at 1:17 am
Scientists have proved what many tea drinkers already know - a regular cuppa can help you recover more quickly from the stresses of everyday life.
A team at University College London found black tea helps to cut levels of the stress hormone cortisol circulating in the blood.
They found people who drank tea were able to de-stress more quickly than those who drank a fake tea substitute.
The study appears in the journal Psychopharmacology.

:o Jason, you just killed me ;D ;D
Philip, the black tea or most teas probably do have that effect, which explains your calm demeanor 8)

I had to explain that the water actually needs to be boiled.. I was more confused however as to why I could see the bottom of the mug. It looked like piss.

Whoever was making that tea needs a lesson in teamaking. I ALWAYS boil the water and like it STRONG with a little bit of honey or sugar :P

only tea I'll drink is from Thailand... every other tea I've ever tried tastes like bad water. Thai ice rocks.

I was just sitting here, nodding in agreement, when I took a sip of my tea and burned the crap out of my lip. I am not kidding. :-\\
And I use boiling water (obviously :-[) but always drink it black. It seems really weird to me to put milk or sugar in it. What does everyone put in theirs?

The only thing I like in my tea is a tea bag and the further down in the cup it is, the stronger (which I LOVE). I don't like the water boiled (just steaming). I can't drink it if it is too hot. I will drink it with honey if I have a sore throat.
Time for cup #4 for today.

The water has to be boiling to get the full flavour out of the tea leaves

I prefer iced tea as well (since I live in the tropics!), but I'll drink hot tea on occasion... :)

You don't want to do that. I give mine about 5 minutes before I drink it.
I have milk and 2 sugars, but you wouldn't need sugar, you're sweet enough as it is. Ba dum tsch.
