One is a big fan of the Dutch/Belgian school of wheat beers.

Bah! I like Miller and everyone tells me its crap beer.  I don't care, I like it.  I can't tolerate most beers but Miller I like.  Keystone is good too.  I'm not too familiar with non-American beer though.

I loves me the IPAs and the Stouts, but when I just want to relax, it's often something big and foamy that's spent a good long time fermenting in the bottle.  Something to be said for splitting the difference with a Delerium Tremens, Trois Pistoles, Maudite... mmm, Belgian ales on lees... pardon me, gotta stumble to the cellar for some inexplicable reason :)

I've had a sip of it a few times and hated it. And I once stole a bottle of Pilsen from my mom and drank it, and almost threw up. I hate, hate, hate beer. Wine is much better.

I agree with the bottom quote to a degree.  If you have to get drunk to have fun, you suck.  But having a drink now and then when out with friends isn't a bad thing.

In the 3 years I've been legal to drink I've had probably 10, maybe 12 drinks.  In 3 years.  I've never been drunk ONCE because pounding back all the liquor seems counter-productive to actually enjoying anything you're doing.  You're slurring your speech, you can't walk straight, you can't sit up straight, you pass out, you puke your guts out and then wake up with a hangover that could kill a horse.  That's "fun"?  I'll pass.

Man I never get like that when i'm drunk. I've never puked, had a hangover, done things I can't remember, slurr my speech or even pass out.  Usually I just get the physical feeling of being drunk, and it mostly makes me loosen up.  My shyness tends to become.. ahem.. dormant, when I'm drunk

Alcoholism runs in my family.  I've had two grandfathers die from alcohol-related illnesses.  Calling someone lame because they don't think getting drunk = a good time, is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  If I want to spend the night bent over the toilet puking up food I ate 3 years ago, I'll get food poisoning. 


Is there shame now in being responsible?


Yeah...I'm sick and tired of people who think the only way to enjoy life or have a good time is to get drunk. They think it's the only way to like other people...everyone in my school just goes out and gets drunk and they know no other way of interacting with each other.

Alcoholism runs in my family. My grandfather and mother have both been or are alcoholics. Which is why I avoid anything more than the occasional glass of wine.
