Subject: Classic Beauty
Written By: quirky_cat_girl on 06/24/06 at 11:03 pm
A few of us were talking about some of the old time screen actresses who had classic beauty and curves. I happen to really love the look of the female stars of the 50's and earlier. They were so sophisticated, yet very sexy. It's very rare to be able to witness that sort of thing nowadays. Here are some of my favorites...what are yours?
Marlene Dietrich

Ahh, now we are on my subject here! I am a huge fan of 1930's and 40's black and white movies. I also collect black and white photo's from that era. I would add to this list Margaret Lockwood, Vivian leigh, Veronica Lake,Gene Tierney and Lana Turner ............I could go on and on!

Yes, they had style, and flair (in general), but I must say some of their antics were as un-flattering as many of today's celebs. But let's not get into that. Let's remember them how we want to - glamorous, beautiful, starlets who exist on black and white celluloid in our memory and nostalgia... :)

but no ones mentioned the totally beautiful MARILYN MONROE,
personally I'm in total agreement with Erin - actresses of the 40s 50's 60's etc totally outclass the regular/standard ones around thesedays..maybe there are 1 or 2 exceptions but no one springs to mind, not a good sign :D

Yes, classic beauty deals with something totally different to the general world's view of beauty these days (which often involves artificial methods). However, it doesn't neccessarily do anything for me.
