Which is fine, except there are no cows around here for miles...

But that was the reason the train company gave for 1.5 hour delays some while back...

This is about my worst story ever (especially 'cause I hate lying).  But many years ago, I was at an all-night beach party and I didn't want to go to work the next day 'cause the party was way too much fun.  So I didn't go and I didn't call.  My story was as follows:

I was on my way to work, standing on the platform waiting for the train when a man ran buy and stole my purse.  I was so upset that I went home but forgot to call and let them know I wasn't coming in.

It was pretty funny at the time.  I got fired from that job.  ::)

The last job I had, I never really needed an excuse to be late.  It was a data entry job in a Government office building.  I had a desk in the corner where no one ever came, so I could pretty much show up late, take an extended lunch hour, goof off at my desk, then leave early and I'd still collect full pay ;D

It was more embarrassing for me, lol. I walked casually into walk and my expression only turned to horror when my manager asked me if I was on a half-day holiday. Everybody was laughing at me for weeks after that - I made the time up so it was cool.

My manager said; "This really is the first time that a person was late for work because he didn't know what day it was".

Actually, one excused I did use (and yes, I did not lie-this really did happen), I got stuck in a snow bank. I lived on a mountain and the road was icy. I tried to get up a hill and slid down. Instead of turning the car around and going the other way (which I could have done), I decided to take that hill again. I got half way up it and started fishtailing and ended up with my back right end in a snow bank. Normally, I would have just gotten out of the car but the driver door's lock was frozen so I couldn't open that door and the passenger side door was stuck in a snow bank-so I climbed out of the window. I was only about a 1/2 mile from home so I walked home and called work to say I was going to be late. I also woke up the guy I was living with to come and help me dig out my car. While we were there, a few of my neighbors came by and after digging for a while, they guys decided just to lift the car out (good thing I had a light car). By this time, the ice on the road melted and I was on my way-and yes, I made it up that hill but I was about 1 and a half-2 hours late for work.

That is awesome. another reason to live in Colorado.

I have been late many times simply cuz I lost my keys in the house.  But a good excuse is always broken pipes and a flooded house.  People feel so badly for your that you can't miss!
