Subject: Test Your Typing Speed
Written By: Trimac20 on 05/10/06 at 2:58 am
I stumbled upon this website, which has an online typing speed test.
http://www.typingtest.com/default.asp?m=1
For the 'Wizard of Oz' test I scored:
test name the wonderful wizard of oz
gross speed 109 WPM
Errors 1 words
Net speed 108 WPM
Accuracy 99%
But that was at a rather frenetic pace. Typing at my usual, relaxed pace I scored:
test name tigers in the wild
gross speed 94 wpm
errors 1 words
net speed 93 wpm
accuracy 98%

Wow. Super fast typist, you are! I love tests, and I can type, so I took the Wizard of Oz test. Took it on my laptop. On a longer test, I'd probably score a little lower -- plus they didn't use any complicated words or any numbers. Here's my score.
Here are your full test results:
- Test Name: The Wonderful Wizard of OZ
- Date: 2006-05-10 07:39
- Test Time: 01:00
- Gross Speed: 98 WPM
- Errors: 2
- Accuracy: 97%
- NET SPEED: 96 WPM

Wow, you're not too shabby yourself...I'm not really that fast (faster than most tho, :D) - but fast enough to keep up with most in chatrooms.etc.

IM w/ a fast typist is so much more satisfying than with a slow typist...don't you think? ;)
(really though...more like a live-time conversation)

I know, I'm always waiting for the other person to catch up. I think I type almost as fast as a I talk...

:D 75 words...
It is way different every time...
I get in between 30 and 170...
Depends on the words, time of day, and my feelings, I guess...
But I always keep up with chats and stuff...

That's odd, mine's pretty consistent no matter how hard I try. I think the measure of a good typist (not drawing praise to myself, of course) is how fast they type 'naturally' without forcing it. My natural ave is pbly 95-100, though I could possibly reach 120 (over at least a minute) if I REALLY tried.

I got only 84 wpm on the Fishing in Finland test (down from 96). I'm typing along nice and speedy and then the word "eutrophication" just messed me up!

Yeah, that one messed me up as well. But 12 WPM? Anyway...For some reason it doesn't matter how hard I try I get similar results in the 95-108 range.

The first test i did didn't go very well because I didn't understand the format. Normally I type and then check and correct my errors. You can't do that on this test. After that I averaged about 35 wpm. Not bad for four fingers!

Have you ever tried to learn touch typing?
