Subject: Which (English) accent sounds the sexiest (when spoken :-))?
Written By: Trimac20 on 04/16/06 at 11:04 am
Annoying silly question from the thread-generation machine known as Trimac20...
When you meet a foreigner, what accent makes your spine tingle the most? Or at least which is least unbearable (if you're not a fan of accents; I personally like almost all accents).

Well, to me, a strong version of my local accent makes me go crazy. A real working-class Jersey accent turns me on like no other.

For starters the Scottish and Irish accents are not considered English.

Sorry, should've clarified. I'm talking about regional accents of the English language not the English Accent of the English language.

I prefer the general American English accent. I think the New York/Jersey accent is a turn on, but I wouldn't call it sexy, it just sounds kinda tough, which I like. I also think some southern accents are really cute, like Texas and Alabama/Georgia, so long as they don't sound ignorant.

Hmm, I wonder what accents sound ignorant? :D I personally think what a person says should be more important than how they say it. But yeah, I get your point ;).
My personal opinion - I've got a soft spot for the Scottish Accent, American is o.k., a bit common, New Zealand is probably most annoying (sorry to any Kiwis out there) but still better than a generic RP accent.

Yep. They fall into the dreaded 'Chav' catergory, but we more commonly refer to them as 'slappers'. The boy version of a 'slapper' is usually just a 'd!ckhead'

Non-American accents, I have to go with the Irish accent. I love the Irish accent. Runner-up would be a NY accent.

I like liverpudian
I like the Pacific coast of USA (california)... I guess it's pretty close to PA, too...
I like latino(a) accents.

I chose "Spanish" English because there are a lot of people in California who speak Spanish and sometimes they sound very attractive trying to speak English.
I also don't mind some other American regional accents, like New Yorks, or Alabaman.

I don't think it is so much the accent that makes it sexy as it is of what is being said. ;) There is appeal to just about all on the list in one way or another.

Accents I like:
Most English accents (apart from Queens English)
Irish
Scottish
American - General
New Zealand (of course I'm impartial to this seeing as it's my own accent)
'European' English (French, German etc)
Accents that irritate me/find amusing:
American - Southern
American - 'New York'
Queens English
Australian
As for most sexiest: I've no clue.

Both seem to be among the more popular accents (for whatever reason)...I'm somewhat proud of my accent - but it hasn't lured me any foreign girls yet ;)
