Subject: Posters on your wall

Written By: whistledog on 03/29/06 at 9:45 pm

Probably been talked about before, but I didn't find it in the search  ::)

What posters did you have on your wall as a kid/teen.  Do you have posters on your wall today?

I never had posters on my wall as a kid/teen.  I didn't have any.

Now, I've got concert posters from shows I've been to.  I have NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beck and U2.

I had a yellow cartoon Joker (Batman) poster as a kid.  The day I got it, I was so excited that I fell asleep with it next to me.  When I woke up, I cried because I'd rolled over it in my sleep, and it got all krinkled.  I still hung it on my wall

Currently, I have 3 posters of Victoria Silvstedt on my wall.  Got them at a flea market for 50c each, so I figured ah what the hell ;D

I have posters on my wall now.

Two blacklights. One is a Leopard(sp?) on a branch in the jungle, and the other is Tony Montana holding a machine gun with "Say hello to my little friend" and the "Scarface" logo on it.  I also have a poster by Frank Frazetta,a famous poster artist. Here is a pic of it:

As a kid 13-14, my bedroom walls were adorned with posters of actresses Raquel Welch from the movie 1 Million Years B.C., a poster of Bridget Bardot, and Farrah Fawcett. At 15-17 I got a black light and had many flourescent posters, along with some marijuana themed posters and got those ones at the shop I worked at.  Today I have 1 Lord Of The Rings (The Two Towers) poster in my computer room, but have a goal and dream to decorate the entire inside of my garage with movie posters and also some rock band posters too.

A lot of artwork.

Tour posters.

AND.. MY $100 POSTER!

I got the Rolling Stone's tour of the America's poster with the Eagle as the Bomber.. it actually cost me $90 but it was well worth it.
One of the actual semi-card posters. I have it framed, I wanna get a picture disk to put in there as well.

I got a few real cool pictures up as well.. one is a HUGE infra-red picture from 40,000 feet of New York and upper Jersey (JERSEY REPRESENT, YO!).

Another is a fabulous picture I took of the Paris skyline from when I climbed up real high on La Basilique du Sacr

I don't have posters on my wall at home now.  At work I have a picture of Rest Bay in Porthcawl, a Japanese paper cutting card and a picture of my son's hand prints made to look like flowers.

As a kid I had a lot of Disney pictures on my wall.  One I remember in particular was of Bambi on the ice.  Then I switched to posters of The Fonz.  After that it was Toyah posters, I probably had 5 or 6 of those.  Then my wall became covers in various posters of groups I liked and different lyrics cut out from Smash Hits.  I can't remember all that were there and the lyrics changed fairly regularly.  I do remember a Bauhaus poster and also Pete Murphy and Mick Khan (Tones on Tail?), The Cure and The Damned

Left to right: Zac (age 11/12), Isaac (age 16/17) and Taylor (age 14/15) Hanson. That's three boys. Honestly.

You lie!  ;D

But seriously...

... what kind of unholy inbreeding creates three such bizare creatures?

The one at the back looks like he just dropped a huge load and is kinda like "ooh man, where's the fabreeze" the one on the right just looks like a prick. There's no other word except prick. Actually, I take that back, there are numerous words, none of which I can say here.

The one at the bottom looks like he just stepped out of 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'.

My walls were basically a shrine to the hair metal bands of the day.
I did throw in a portion for a-ha and maybe a couple of actors..but mostly it was any poster I could find with any of the rock stars I loved at the time..course, a lot of them weren't POSTERS, more like tons of pics from Metal Edge Magazine.
Basically had you walked into my bedroom you'd never had known the color of my walls.  ;D

I don't have any now, of course..but I asked hubby if he'd be bothered by a giant poster of Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Carribean on the wall (or ceiling..LOL!) But I'd never do it... ;)

When I was about 11 it was Abba posters everywhere and a couple from Grease. :)

In my teens my room also became a shrine to Glam metal bands. I had an American flag too and some of my own artwork.

In my early twenties still long haired males just less of them ! I had a rather gorgeous poster of Dan Reed. Also a huge picture of 'Chris in the morning' (John Corbett) from Northern Exposure and a load of old black and white photo's of 30's and 40's movie actresses.Oh and a huge black and white print of one of those mad streets in San Fransisco that looks like a ski slope the angle is so sharp.

Now the bedroom has 4 or 5 paintings on the wall.

Aah . Thanks Patty. The prior reaction though ... only proves the old adage ... 'you can please some of the people some of the time etc;' ........  :\'(

They might need a bit more work.  ;D

So hot it's like 'Ka-boing' ... eyes out on stalks .... and 'ka-boing' in the sense of  ... is 'rigor mortis' setting in ... or am I just happy to see them !  ???  :D

Incidentally, DHIW ( Don't you hate it when .. ) >:(  >:(  'Rigor Mortis' sets in in THAT part .... and you're a real stiff ... as stiff as you've been in many a year  ... but it's too late to do anything about it ! ('cause you're a frigging corpse !)  >:( :\'( :\'(

I don't have any posters on my walls, however, I do have some Ramones posters that are rolled up. I'm still looking for that perfect place to hang them up at.

They're not all posters per se, but I have a few things on the walls. I even have some spare cassette/CD album covers without the actual album (from all the times I've gone to goodwill or secondhand music stores, sometimes they've turned up), so I've kinda used those as mini posters too. Here's pretty much what I have:

A black and white Simpsons one
promotional Britney Spears from her 2001/'02 tour ;)
Who's On First, including the dialogue from the skit
a Stop Sign
a Route 195 sign (I found both of the above in a dumpster in the mid '90s!)
Beavis and Butthead
a promotional one for Bring it On
one of a classic Corvette
a pool table
advertizement for the EZ Krunch machine from '93 that I got from Goodwill brand new!

-Tape album covers:

Belinda Carlisle
Steve Winwood
Def Leppard
Paula Abdul
Huey Lewis
Poison
Bon Jovi
Men At Work
Don Henley
The Beatles
Weird Al Yankovic
Van Halen
Hall and Oates
The Clash
a couple '80s compilations

There's also other things, like those little advertizement pamphlets in DVD box sets. I have one with Apu from The Simpsons, and a Seinfeld one, for instance. I also have a mini poster for a production of MASH that I was in.

My parents didn't want us to have posters but I was finally able to talk them into letting me have one on the back of my door.
This is what I had...

When I was about 14/15, you couldn't even see the walls in my room-just about every inch was covered with something-pics from teen magazines, posters, etc. etc. Then when I was about 17 or so (I had moved so I had a new room), I had posters of:

-Styx
-Dark Side of the Moon (which was the pyramids with a green tint)
-Snoopy dancing saying "Feeling Groovy"
-a "Love" poster that had characters on it-but I can't remember what the characters were-not Holly Hobby but close.
-A poster with the silhouette of two lovers kissing with the poem: "I do my thing and you do your thing. I'm not in the this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in this world to live up to mine. I am I and you are you and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful-Fredrick S. Pearl."

All those posters are in the basement somewhere. We have a couple of posters up in one of our back rooms-would it surprise anyone to know that they are of Che and Karl Marx?  ;) :D ;D ;D ;D

As a kid I had the Monkees and a Mickey Mouse poster.

Now I have posters of a few Civil War paintings by Dale Gallen and one about house rules that I got from Spencer's.

A big easy rider one, then mainly things I've got from concerts, album covers, tour posters etc.

I have had a lot over the years. To name a few that I remember:

New Kids On the Block (of course)
Will Smith in his Fresh Prince Days
DJ Jazzy Jeff
Joey Lawrence
SWV (yeah, this is all the 90s)
Snoop Dogg's old cartoon ad for St. Ides (took it from the liquor store....it parodied his first album)
Dr. Dre
Tupac (I had this awesome blacklight poster of him that had a poem he had written on the side)
A huge blowup of the famous Times Square kiss between the sailor and the nurse
Linkin Park
A poster for the movie "Kama Sutra" from it's Japan release

I'm sure I have had more, I just don't remember them all. Nowadays, I have a lot of family pics up, plus a painting my sister did of the NC coast at sunset. There is also the award from the president that my grandfather got, Rice's two degrees, and in my room, it's Japanese themed: my kimono is hung on the wall, along with the silk brocade obi, and an origami handkerchief folded to look like a kimono. I also rigged up the top part of a Japanese lacquered umbrella so it's nearly flat against the wall. It is flanked by two fans: one of carved wood and the other just a silk print fan.

Jason has a few posters in his room: a Homies poster that shows all the characters, a map of the Gurnee, IL Six Flags, and the last one has three Labradors on it that we bought in the Sierras when we first moved across the country.

It was the color of Jordan Knight, Joe McIntyre, Jon Knight, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood (I didn't even have to google those names either LOL)

I had Bon Jovi and Johnny Depp posters mixed with puppy and kitten posters in the late 80's.

Ironically I have more now than I ever did before. I used to be super picky about stuff, like I didn't want to cut anything out of magazines since it would mess it up, lol. I think it would've been cool if I'd had some of my current ones back in the actual '80s/early-mid '90s.

^ He literally doesn't even look like the same person anymore. Not like an aged, older version or someone who simply changed some things about their appearance, but literally someone else. I can imagine a Back to the Future-esque scenario of early '70s Leif Garrett meeting 2007 Leif, I think the younger one would be scared of his self to be, lol.

Seriously though, it really is sad because he genuinely seems like a good guy. I saw his Behind the Music awhile ago and he's just been through some hard stuff in his life, although I forget details now.

everyone here has had some really cool posters on their walls. I keep saying and dreaming of putting posters up on the walls inside my garage. I think that would be cool. It's a pretty clean garage, no junk piled up, lots of room. we park 2 cars inside of it. I'm gonna do it one of these days. I'm thinking movies & rock and roll band posters for starters
