I'd like to say the first single I bought was 'I don't like mondays' by the Boomtown Rats but that was the second single I ever bought. The first was Coward of the county by Kenny Rogers ! :-[

I think it was Don't Stop Me Now - Queen but it might also have been something far more embarassing

From a popular music perspective, the first single I ever bought was in 2002. I really liked this song called 'Point of View' by DB Boulevard, so on a hunch, i went to HMV and there it was. They also had another great one called 'Dove' by Moony, a female artist who was actually the voice of DB Boulevard. Two songs I just loved alot, so I snatched up both CD singles :)

I've bought maybe 2-3 singles in my music-buying history...
Murder on the dancefloor - Sophie Ellis Bextor ( :-[
They were; Basement Jaxx - where's your head at ( :-[ :-[ )
A Garbage one, can't remember
And that's bout' it, all were bought about 2000.
In comparison, I've bought about 80 or so albums.

There is no shame in buying a Basement Jaxx single. I own like 5 of their singles 8)

I don't usually buy singles but one I did get at a second hand store is REM's "Drive".

Not really from the singles era, but I do have a few (I think about five) CD-singles. The first one was "I'm Waking Up to Us" by Belle and Sebastian. Actually, the next two were also Belle and Sebastian... "Jonathan David" and "Legal Man." Rounding out the collection: "Stolen Car (Take Me Dancing)" by Sting and "Everytime We Touch" by Cascada. I think that's all the ones I own.

I only ever bought one single in my entire existance.
Some lame (and kinda funny) cover of a classic New Zealand 80s song.
I binned it recently. ::)
