This is one of my favourite paintings. It's Monet's Artist's Garden at Giverny. For a while I used it as my laptop's wallpaper.

I don't have a painting for the gallery, but are you familiar with ic of Sister Wendy who appears on public tv? Here's how one person described the Nun. "Sister Wendy Beckett takes you on a gallery tour that blends art, history, culture and storytelling into one delightful experience. Sister Wendy, described as "a phenomenon" by The Washington Post and a "pop star" by The New York Times, tours some of America

It is..Kahlo had quite a troubled life - I read she was seriously smashed up by a road traffic accident as a young woman and spent her entire life in severe pain. An interesting, talented and stunning woman.

I agree. It's amazing that she managed to continue painting after all that. If any of y'all are interested in her, I recommend the movie Frida from a few years ago. It starred Salma Hayek as Kahlo and it was a very good portrayal of her life.

Just to carry on the theme of South American Art - these are the masks/dancing skeletons that I was on about. Reading up on them I see they are used to celebrate our equivalent of Halloween in late October.

Days of the Dead or Los Dias de los Muertos

Did you draw this, Mike? If so, I hope I didn't offend you about the comment of him looking like Jesus. That's just because he really did look like Jesus in real life.

And, yeah, Jason, that really DOES look like Paul Davis.. good observation!  ;D

I wish I were that good, and sorry about not replying to your earlier comment. No offense whatsoever, when you posted that comment I was in total agreement, looks alot like Jesus Christ. I tried to make out the artist name but I can't find the site anymore where the image was located.

Ohh, whew.. okay. I know how it feels when people can make silly little comments like that, so I didn't want you to feel bad about it. I am sure one of these days you could draw something like that  ;)

It is a very nice drawing though  :)

It is hard to understand or decipher peoples feelings from our posts sometimes, but in this case, I was not offended at all, you gotta really say something harsh to offend me. I have zero to minor talent painting or drawing. Maybe zero talent with that is the more accurate but I enjoy other peoples artwork.

I've always loved this picture by Norwegian artist EDVARD MUNCH (1863-1944) and have it at home as a poster, sometimes can identify with the character. Also known as 'The Cry'

Here's one of LOUIS WAINS illustrations typical of his style - he loved to humanise animals and put them in various human situations/activities. This man had a tragic life, he became poverty stricken as he was out of work, then bankrupt due to serious mental illness, and then admitted into an asylum in London called the Bedlam Asylum, were he ended his days.
Sadly he also signed away (unknowingly) the copyrights to all of his illustrations, so he, or his family never gained from the royalties of the masses of prints that have been produced from his originals. He also adored cats which is always great by me. It gauls me thinking about the sadness of his life, he was obviously a lovely man and suffered a lot.
