Subject: Older women/younger men

Written By: Slater on 02/10/06 at 4:13 pm

Any of you fellows out there ever been in one of these relationships? For me, it was my first real realtionship. I was 24 and she was 38. Yeah, I know, but we really enjoyed each others company and I still think fondly of her to this day. Suppose that was a bit overboard, though, when you think about it.

She's 17, I'm 15... not as big as yours, but yeah, I'm one like it.

I am 2 years older than my husband...that's not much of a difference. I never dated anyone younger than that though.

When I was 29 I was dating a 17 year old guy. Admittedly he fibbed and told me he was 19 ! It was his mum who told me his real age - but she said she liked me better than his previous "older woman" who was his high school teahcer !!  ???

He didnt look or act 17. He was 6 foot 5 and muscley. He serenaded me with a Wet Wet Wet song to get me to go out with him !  It worked !

Well my beloved is 5 years younger than me and we've been together nine years now.Infact I have always ended up dating slightly younger guys. The only times I went out with older men it was a disaster ! Of course it could just be that I am infantile and therefore on their wavelength !  ;D

Same here. When I was in my teens I dated guys in their 40s. Then as I got older - the guys got younger !  Now I usually like guys about 10 years younger than me on average.

Obviously it depends on the guy in the end. I am sorta interested in a guy at the moment who is in his mid 40s but most people think he is 30 or so because of the way he acts and the bands he likes. (I have never heard of the bands !!). I like his personality but his taste in music is BAD ! That could be the make or break in a new friendship !!

The only person I dated close to my age was the guy I married - only two years older than me. And that didnt work out for a thousand reasons.

He was 30 I was 42, It was all about the sex so it didn't matter.  :)  We had a great time, and remain friends. As for extended relationship
I look at younger guys, but really rather be involved with guys closer to may age.  Of course, this could be a moot point since Sig and I have been together for 12 years.

Yeah, unintentionally or not, I think we tend to base things off our own experiences. Even if we know it isn't all like that, it's almost a case of having to go through it yourself to totally believe it.

Anyway, as cliched as it sounds (and as much as I tend to offer stuff like this), I think it really depends on the person.

It's no secret that I've always sort of had a thing for older women. As long as I can remember. I always got (playfully) teased by my friends for it when I was younger (and now too), but it wasn't even the "movie star/bombshell" types who I tended to like. Just your typical housewife/soccer mom (alot of my older teachers were like this). ;)

On a more serious note though -- I find sometimes that I "connect" with older women a little easier and more comfortably. Why? Because I can "be myself" more, as opposed to being subconcious about being "cool" or "fitting in" like I have (at times anyway) felt with girls closer to my age.

P.S. Go figure though, that the only two who I'd really call "girlfriends" I've had in my life were both younger than me. Not by much, but still.

the big space gives it away that you're not gonna say "boobs." that and no one who's 437 is gonna have nice knockers.

My sister had a fling with a 21 year old after her relationship went pear shaped. It was just about sex really, and it did her the world of good.Having had no self esteem left at all, he gave her it back and made her feel like an attractive woman again.

Sigh...the joke you told implied that an older woman is desperate, so easily picked up. There are young men
who for whatever reasons think they are studs because they can pick up older women, when in fact they are being
passed around, and talked about, by the ladies in the club.

As long as you are out of the marriage, not living together now, go for it.  The biggest mistake is to try for a committed relationship
too soon.  Having fun is the best revenge.    ;)

Had you subsituted "personal trainer" for "tennis pro," I might have gotten your point a little quicker. However, your post implies that a lot of younger guys don't have a clue as to what's going on. While that may be true in some cases, I think it's a safe bet that your hypothetical "tennis pro," if you will, is quite aware that these older women are "using" him every bit as much as he is using them. And you know what? He's totally cool with that, because he knows that it's part of the game.
And do you know how your "tennis pro" got to be so good? Sure it had mostly to do with a lot of practice and hard work, but what enabled him to take his game to the next level was that he found a sewing circle full of older ladies who were quite eager and willing to kiss his balls for good luck.
