The Futureheads come from Sunderland, whilst Maximo Park and Sting come from the North East. Apart from those, the Arctic Monkeys come from Sheffield, which is in South Yorkshire

Steve Perry(Aerosmith) comes from one town over.  Gary Cherone comes from here, played with Van Halen for a couple of months.  There are more from the Boston area, I don't know off the top of my head.

No one with real international success (Australia not included as most NZ bands make it to there) are from where I live.

The country group Shedaisy is from here.  Also, we can claim The Osmonds.  (Not that we want to, we are forced to ;) )

The Who came from Shepherds Bush, which is just down the road from me.

Bette Midler, Yvonne Elliman and Glenn Medeiros are all from Hawaii...

I went to High School with 'Kasabian' and in fact had a fight with (and knocked the snot out of) Chris Edwards. Funnily enough, he got picked on quite a lot at school.

I played in several charity soccer matches with members of 'Showaddywaddy'.

Also, my father has reported meeting Engelbert Humperdinck on several occasions in Pubs and Bars around the city.

(Anyone remember Buddy Holly?)  He still rides in a limo, and he begs people to ask him for his autograph.  Poison came from the Mechanicsburg/Harrisburg area.  I heard/rumor that Rod Stewart's sister lives in my area.  The guys who do alot of the sound for concerts. (Big names) I believe there still known as Clair Brothers are located here. :)

Meatloaf used to coach girls' field hockey at Redding High School in CT.  I grew up near there, in Danbury.  I also temped in the cubicle next to Neal Carlson of Rock Star INXS, 5 years ago.

Heh! Well, they were all born in Manchester, UK...thing was, they were proving to be complete little toe-rags while growing up, so the authorities shipped 'em off to you lot!

From my locality...(of course, none of them live here now!)

Mick Jagger & Keef Richards (ageing Stones participants) were born in the neighbouring town of Dartford...

Kate Bush (ageing 'weirdy' warbler) was born between Welling & Bexleyheath...

Megan Slankard isn't famous, but she's getting a lot of recognition fast. I mean, within the last year, she started touring from just California to the whole country! Also, her independant releases available at only two places are easy to find now...

Well, this is pretty much my general area, so I'll go with that.

As for bands from my hometown of Shippensburg, all we got is the high school marching band, the university band, the town band, and the town German band.  ::)  Although I'm sure some of the college kids play in bands at the local bars and stuff too.


Oh...I also live fairly close to Allentown, Pennsylvania, home of the World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.  The Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps is also headquartered in Allentown.  (They're both sponsored by the same organization.)

Growing up in New Orleans area there are more than a few...... I would go down to the French Quarter and just listen.....

They Perths' supposed to be the new Seattle, but despite the fact we have loads more talent than the rest of the country, all those over-hyped, over-publicised bands in Sydney and Melbourne are stealing all the limelight.

The most famous band from Perth is probably INXS (well they formed in Perth), ACDCs Bon Scott lived in Freo, otherwise Perth bands are better known locally like Eskimo Joe, End of Fashion, Jebediah.etc

Radiohead, Supergrass, Ride, The Unbelievable Truth and various other 90's indie bands were all from Oxford. It had a huge indie scene in the 90's which seems to have died a death now.
