Subject: Doesn't Any One Play Pinochle Anymore?
Written By: loki 13 on 01/18/06 at 8:35 pm
I haven't played pinochle in years.I tried to get a game going in
work and the younger guys looked at me like I had three heads.
With computer card games and arcade games does any one actually
play real cards or board games anymore?

The only game going seems to be poker, the whole Texas hold 'em thing, but that is just a fast disappearing fad.

I've never heard of the game Pinochle but we play card games at home sometimes. Mainly we play a version of Gin Rummy. The family name for it is "3 of one and 4 of another". We've also played Pontoon recently. Given the age of my kids the most popluar card games are still Donkey and Happy Families!

This sounds like the way I play Rummy,I don't like the sequential version
of rummy,i.e. 3,4,5 of the same suit.
Pinochle is a game of 48 cards, the lowest card is a 9 there is two of each
suit in the deck.In pinochle the ten is higher than the king,i.e. A,10,K,Q,J,9.
pinochle is a trick taking game wit the A,10,K as counters.it gets a little
complicated to explain here but it is a fun game that noone plays anymore.

Texas hold-em is a decent game but does it have to be on
t.v. everynight? Thankfully it seems to be fading.
