Subject: How do play Cricket?

I'm totally confused so can someone out there give me a quick course on how cricket is
played. It looks like a guy throws a ball on the ground. Is he aiming for the dirt or the
bat? And the batsman, does he get strikes like in our baseball and how many times do
they run back and forth?

I never much understood cricket, but it does look like an intriguing game. Did you know Cricket is the national sport of the UK? I always thought it was Soccer

An easier explanation of the sport of cricket:
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

There is a good website that informs of the play of of the game:
http://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/hosking/cricket/explanation.htm
But it is a bit to much to read in one go.

Ideally what you need to dois attend a game of cricket, stay for the day or the duration of the game, and the watching of the game will explain itself, watching it on TV really justify the pace of the game, two things could be happening at the same time, which TV can only show one, but can recap on replays.

Funny...so did I...!!
When ye ancient game of cricket first began (I'm not sure whether rules had been applied by then...) the bowling was underarm, as opposed to what you see 'em do now...

The idea of overarm bowling came from ladies playing cricket, for when the ladies bowled underarm the arm and ball tangles in the flowing Victorian skirts that were worn at the time.

Thanks, the website you gave was good. I have never heard of cricket being played anywhere around
here, although it is possible.

Well, I intend to avoid Provo at all costs, but I will try the northeast cricket clubs. The websites
aren't responding, I'll keep trying and thanks again
