Subject: The 15 most-drawn keno numbers in regular Nintendo "Vegas Dream"
Written By: Sammy Reed on 10/14/05 at 11:55 am
I am going to see if I can make a list of the 15 most-drawn keno numbers in the regular Nintendo (NES) "Vegas Dream" cartridge. I figured since you can pick up to 15 numbers in the keno game, it would make sense to know which 15 numbers are the most-drawn.
It will take me many, many draws before I can have a list of 15 without ties, but I'll see if I can.
I've had this idea since the 90's, and I have attempted this a few times, but gave up after a while each time. THIS time, I'm gonna try. With the "pressure" of putting this on a message board, I just might do it this time.
EXPLANATORY NOTES
The only way to keep track of these numbers is to videotape the games and pause the tape after each keno drawing, because they don't keep the numbers on the screen long enough.
I play the game picking the 15 numbers from the last list, and betting half my money (or $1 more in cases of odd numbers) each time until I run out and the game is over. (There are also those times where people come up to you wanting to do various things, and I participate in those, too. In case you were wondering, for my 1st game I picked the numbers 1-15.)
Then I play the tape of the game and tally the number of keno draws there were in the game, and how many times each number is drawn. Then I total everything up and make my "most-drawn" list. If I won anything keno-wise using the numbers from the last list, I'll tell you about it in the next list.
I keep putting ranks down until I have at least 15 numbers in the list. In the case of tie situations where the last rank puts the list over 15 numbers, I put a separator line ("|") to separate the numbers that make a list of 15 from the rest.
Except for ".5 percents", the percentage numbers are rounded up or down.
Here are the first 5 lists I made since I started doing this a couple of days ago.
AFTER 6 DRAWS
1. 8, 52, 55, 74, 78 - 4 times (67%)
2. 4, 16, 45, 46, 64, 68, 76, 79 - 3 times (50%)
3. 17, 19|, 21, 22, 29, 33, 34, 36, 37, 43, 49, 50, 53, 54, 62, 66, 67, 69, 75 - 2 times (33%)
AFTER 15 DRAWS
1. 19 - 8 times (53%)
2. 8, 16, 74, 76 - 7 times (47%)
3. 1, 2, 7, 10, 46, 50 - 6 times (40%)
4. 18, 20, 22, 27|, 31, 34, 45, 52, 55, 62, 64, 70, 75, 78, 79 - 5 times (33%)
I have a number-one number without a tie for the first time.
Using the above 15 numbers, there was one time I matched the minimum of 7 numbers you have to match if you pick 15 numbers. I bet $5, matched 7 numbers, and won $40. For the record, those numbers were 2, 8, 18, 19, 20, 27, and 76.
AFTER 48 DRAWS
1. 2 - 20 times (42%)
2. 19, 51, 74 - 19 times (40%)
3. 20 - 17 times (35%)
4. 4, 8, 9, 49, 70, 75 - 16 times (33%)
5. 13, 14, 50, 62|, 80 - 15 times (31%)
At this point, even the most-drawn number is drawn less than half the time.
The reason there's such a difference in the number of draws between this list and the last one is because when I played the game this time, it was very difficult for me to run out of money, having won $20000 in one last-chance slot machine game, $10000 in another one, and other things. So the game lingered on.
AFTER 57 DRAWS
1. 2 - 23 times (40%)
2. 19 - 22 times (39%)
3. 4, 13, 74 - 20 times (35%)
4. 1, 9, 51, 75, 80 - 19 times (33%)
5. 14, 18, 23, 49, 50|, 62 - 18 times (32%)
Now I have a straight-ahead top-2 list without ties.
AFTER 80 DRAWS
1. 1 - 30 times (37.5%)
2. 2, 19 - 29 times (36%)
3. 13 - 28 times (35%)
4. 3 - 27 times (34%)
5. 4, 5, 12, 62 - 26 times (32.5%)
6. 9, 18, 74 - 25 times (31%)
7. 23, 46, 50|, 51, 66, 75, 79, 80 - 24 times (30%)
That's all so far. Here's hoping I can keep this up until I can make a list of the top 15 most-drawn keno numbers in NES "Vegas Dream".

Today, with a couple of good last-chance slot machine games and a little here and a lot there in the "side games", this last game parlayed itself into a 63-draw marathon! Although they were late-in-coming, I matched 7 numbers from the last list on 2 different occasions. Let me put them in a neat "technical" form:
Drawing #50 out of 63 for the game
Bet $40
Matched 3, 4, 5, 46, 50, 62, and 74
Won $320
Drawing #53 out of 63 for the game
Bet $45
Matched 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 13, and 19
Won $360
Now for this list:
I have a straight-ahead top 6 list for the 1st time!
Percentage figures are now in tenths of a percent, rounded up or down.
LIST #6 - after 143 draws
1. 2 - 54 times (37.8%)
2. 4 - 51 times (35.7%)
3. 1 - 50 times (35%)
4. 19 - 47 times (32.9%)
5. 8 - 46 times (32.2%)
6. 5 - 45 times (31.5%)
7. 10, 14 - 44 times (30.8%)
8. 3, 69, 75 - 43 times (30.1%)
9. 13, 16, 18, 62 - 42 times (29.4%)
Let's see how I do with these in my next NES "Vegas Dream" keno adventure.

It seems like this list is getting perfected. In my last game, I matched the minimum 7 numbers 4 times, and 8 numbers 3 times! If it wasn't for the $10000 raffle I won, the $8232 I won in a keno drawing would have been the biggest prize I won in the game. I think this time I can safely say the reason this game went on a record 68 drawings is mostly because of money I won in keno. Let's run it down.
Drawing #11 out of 68 for the game
Bet $2
Matched 7 numbers (2, 3, 8, 13, 14, 19, 62)
Won $16
Drawing #23
Bet $8
Matched 8 numbers (1, 2, 3, 13, 14, 16, 19, 69)
Won $224
Drawing #37
Bet $55
Matched 8 numbers (1, 3, 5, 14, 16, 18, 19, 69)
Won $1540
Drawing #39
Bet $399
Matched 7 numbers (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 14, 62)
Won $3192
Drawing #43
Bet $206
Matched 7 numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 14, 69)
Won $1648
Drawing #46
Bet $294
Matched 8 numbers (2, 4, 10, 14, 16, 18, 69, 75)
Won $8232
Drawing #64
Bet $498
Matched 7 numbers (1, 2, 5, 10, 14, 16, 75)
Won $3984
And now for the big list. You'll notice some ties have crept back in.
LIST #7 - after 211 draws
1. 2, 4 - 75 times (35.5%)
2. 1 - 71 times (33.6%)
3. 14 - 69 times (32.7%)
4. 16, 19 - 68 times (32.2%)
5. 5 - 67 times (31.75%)
6. 10, 18 - 64 times (30.3%)
7. 8, 69 - 63 times (29.9%)
8. 3 - 62 times (29.4%)
9. 13, 77 - 61 times (28.9%)
10. 9|, 12, 20, 62, 76 - 60 times (28.4%)
Hopefully I'll cross fingers and take names with this next game.

I own a NES myself(which needs to be thoroughly clean on the inside, it's difficult to get it working). I don't own this game, however. Have you thought of putting these odds on gamefaqs?
:) :) :) :)

Despite the "perfection" of the list that I experienced last time, this time my luck wasn't so good. I only won keno a couple of times.
Drawing #2 out of 44 for the game
Bet $175
Matched 7 numbers (1, 4, 9, 14, 18, 19, 69)
Won $1400
Drawing #25
Bet $16
Matched 7 numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 16, 19)
Won $128
Now, I hope this list goes better for me. I see more ties have crept in.
LIST #8 - after 255 draws
1. 2 - 93 times (36.5%)
2. 1, 4 - 90 times (35.3%)
3. 16, 19 - 84 times (32.9%)
4. 5 - 83 times (32.5%)
5. 10, 18 - 81 times (31.8%)
6. 14 - 78 times (30.6%)
7. 8, 13 - 76 times (29.8%)
8. 49 - 74 times (29%)
9. 51 - 73 times (28.6%)
10. 3, 11|, 69 - 72 times (28.2%)

I finally got around to playing "Vegas Dream" again so I could update the list, but there was a problem.
When you start "Vegas Dream", it starts you out with $700. So I bet half of that, $350, and I didn't match the minimum of 7 numbers so I didn't win.
Then I bet half of that, $175, and likewise didn't win.
Then I fell down some stairs and had to pay a $200 hospital bill. This busted me, and I didn't win the last-chance slot machine spin.
So this game went exactly 2 keno drawings.
But there are a few changes in this list, and hey, it's up to 11 positions this time!
LIST #9 - after 257 draws
1. 2 - 93 times (36.2%)
2. 1 - 91 times (35.4%)
3. 4 - 90 times (35%)
4. 16 - 85 times (33.1%)
5. 5, 19 - 84 times (32.7%)
6. 10 - 83 times (32.3%)
7. 18 - 81 times (31.5%)
8. 8, 14 - 78 times (30.35%)
9. 13, 49 - 76 times (29.6%)
10. 11, 51 - 73 times (28.4%)
11. 3|, 12, 69 - 72 times (28%)

Well, finally I played again, but this time it only went 3 drawings. I was down to $87, and the woman took $200 from me after we married (How someone can take $200 from you if you only have $87, I'll never know, but that's how this game goes.) and I didn't win the last-chance slot spin.
The good news is the list is up to 13 positions now!
LIST #10 - after 260 draws
1. 2 - 94 times (36.1%)
2. 1 - 92 times (35.4%)
3. 4 - 90 times (34.6%)
4. 5, 16 - 85 times (32.7%)
5. 19 - 84 times (32.3%)
6. 10 - 83 times (31.9%)
7. 18 - 82 times (31.5%)
8. 14 - 79 times (30.4%)
9. 8 - 78 times (30%)
10. 13 - 77 times (29.6%)
11. 49 - 76 times (29.2%)
12. 12, 69 - 74 times (28.5%)
13. 11|, 51 - 73 times (28.1%)

I've never played Vegas Dream before. The one Casino game I was really hooked on was "King of Casino" for the Turbo Grafx-16 :)

Has anyone worked out the regularity of the numbers in the UK Lottery?
