Subject: Song stuck in my head....
Written By: QueenAmenRa on 10/01/05 at 5:42 pm
Ok so I have this lovely oldies song stuck in my head and I wanna know the name of it.
The bad news: it's an instrumental so I obviously can't give you guys any lyrics. All I can tell you is it's one of those instrumentals you hear a lot on oldies stations. It's got a real laid-back jazzy kinda beat. The "verses" are mainly just piano but the main part (or well the real familiar part) is like a trumpet or saxophone part.
If anyone has an idea what they think it might be, or a very useful website 2 go 2, please help!

I'm sure I'd know it if I heard it, but can't think offhand.
I tend to think of "oldies" music as 50's and 60's, maybe a little early 70's thrown in there too. My first thought was "Rumble" from Link Wray (not sure why, lol), but that's probably not it.

Possibly 'Take Five' by The Dave Brubeck Quartet?
That's the only thing I can think of that 'fits the bill'...!

Sounds like it could be a George Benson song, "Breezin".  Great song! :)

Yeah, I admit I haven't actually heard that in ages - I probably remembered it wrong. Silly me. ;D
It was the first "instrumental oldie" I could think offhand.

Oh well I'm stupid. Here's a way to find out:
Here is me attempting to sing the "main" part-which is played by some sorta brass instrument (sorry I can't vocalize an entire band)

From what you sang here, I figured out it's a song by Swing Out Sisters called Am I The Same Girl. (I think that's the title) but it's not an instrumental. They sing throughout the whole song. :-\\
