Have you ever listened to a song that sounded eerily or at least vaguely familiar? This is a thread where you can compare songs that sound alike.
Okay, I'll start:
The Deepest Blues Are Black by Foo Fighters vs. We Are The Champions By Queen
The choruses sound similar.

The guitar on "Laid" by James sounds almost exactly like the intro the R.E.M.'s "Man on the Moon"

Oh, tons -- I do this all the time. :)
Just off the top of my head:
"Heaven in the Backseat" from Eddie Money sounds a bit like "Armageddon It" from Def Leppard.
Actually, since that's the only full song that comes to mind offhand, I'm gonna do a little spinoff - song intros separated at birth:
"Positive Touch" from Journey and Toto's "Rosanna"
"Did It in a Minute" from Hall & Oates and "How Much Love" from Survivor
"Go Your Own Way" from Fleetwood Mac, and "We Belong" from Pat Benatar
"Just Between You and Me" from Lou Gramm, and "King of Pain" by the Police
"Rock & Roll Girls" from John Fogerty, and "I Get Excited" by Rick Springfield
Yeah, these are all 80's examples (I'll think of more later). ;)

Badly-Drawn Boy's "The Shining" and Modest Mouse's "Gravity Rides Everything".

I don't know the first song but love the second so I am going to have to download the former to check out the similarities. 8)

Just downloaded 'Rock & girl girls'. It sounds a bit like 'I get excited' but I challenge you to listen to 'Wild Weekend' by The Rockin' Rebels (an instrumental) and tell me they aren't the same chords. ;)

Way back in 1965, our favourite Australian, Sir Rolf Of Harris, released a song called 'War Canoe' which was ignored by millions...
Fast-forward a decade and a half, and our (then) hottest act, Adam & The Ants, released a song called 'Prince Charming' (a British #1)...
Only thing was, Adam's song was a direct (and I do mean direct) copy of Rolf's...just different words!
It wasn't given much publicity at the time, but Rolf eventually settled for a nice financial sum as compensation for copyright infringement...
...which probably kept him in 'wobble boards' for years!

The chords from Louie Louie are present in Boston's More than a feeling...which is ripped off in Nirvanas Smells like Teen spirit.
THe intro of Rape me is Smells like Teen spirit.
George Harrison's My sweet Lord is He's So Fine
I was listening to a song on the Raveonettes new album...I forget which one...I think it was track 3...anyway, the guitar solo is directly lifted from of all songs, Up where we belong...and the rest of the song rips something I cant quite put my finger on.

It's not a sample ...
The Final Countdown - Europe (1986) vs. We Take the Chance - Modern Talking (1998)
Click either to hear it and you tell me ...

Blockbuster - The Sweet and Jean Genie - David Bowie. I've always thought they sounded similar
Although having just Googled on it I find that they're not!
"Some Bowie writers have reported the similarities between the central riff of "The Jean Genie" and The Sweet's "Blockbuster" and some suggest that Bowie may have "borrowed" the Sweet's riff and vice versa. However, The Jean Genie entered the British Chart on the 9th December 1972 and Blockbuster was released sometime later on the 13th January 1973. Also the riffs are slightly different with The Jean Genie's riff being "bowmp bowmp bowmp buh-DAH-duh" whereas "Blockbuster"s is "ba-domp ba-domp ba-domp ba-DA-duh". The Sweet's writers also deny this"
Silly me muddling up my bowmpbowmp's with my ba-domp ba-domp's!!

George Harrison's My sweet Lord is He's So Fine
Wasn't there a courtcase based on the similarity of the two songs?

For all you dance fanatics, how about this ones (both from 1995):
Runaway by E'voke vs. Set You Free by N-Trance

E-Pro and Devil's Haircut, both Beck songs, sound alike to me.

Here's a few more from the 80's:
"Say Say Say" Paul McCartney, and "Promises Promises" Naked Eyes (both are multi word too!)
"How Will I Know" Whitney Houston, and "So Far So Good" Sheena Easton
"Somebody Like You" 38 Special, and "The Salt in My Tears" Martin Briley
"All Right" Christopher Cross, and "All I Need" Jack Wagner (the former is just more upbeat)
"Heaven in the Backseat" Eddie Money, and "Armageddon It" Def Leppard
Well, these don't sound exactly alike, but close enough to make ya go, "Oh hey, doesn't this remind you a little of...?" ;)
