Never drank it. I have drank plum wine, however.

If memory serves, it's drunk from a little wooden cup thing...

I remember my Dad used to do catering/bar work (outside of normal working hours, all 'cash in hand', natch!) and on one occasion, there was a delegation of high-profile Japanese expected as this 'do'...

Long story short, someone had the bright idea of getting some Sake in to impress the eminent guests...

When they arrived, they quickly balked at the Sake and merrily headed toward the bar, which they proceeded to rapidly drain of Scotch! So quickly, that emergency supplies had to be obtained within 30 minutes...!

Dad brought some of the untouched Sake home with him...

...it was very handy for unblocking drains!

Gah!  I had my first experience with sake last month at this cool Japanese restaurant me and hubby go to.  I had it hot in a tiny little ceramic/glass cup and a cool..erm hot glass/ceramic bottle.  Let me preface this to say that I am NOT a drinker by any accord.  I prefer to get frozen drinks without alcohol...I guess they are called smoothies huh?  Anyways... I have one sip, woah!    Maybe it tastes better cold, but ick, I didn't like it at all.  And it didn't help my performance with chopsticks either. (but I *am* getting better at using them...still have trouble eating rice with chopsticks...ah well)

Somewhat ironic, is that the Japanese restaurant is named "Sake."

We're getting to be regulars there, the women in their pretty kimonos have conversations with us, well...at least as much as they can understand our English.  My hubby likes to show off his language skills by talking to them in their native language whether it be Chinese or Japanese.  I don't know why I find it amusing that a Chinese girl works at a Japanese restaurant.

We went to a huge flea market recently and were talking to this lady who was from Thailand, she was selling oriental imports.  She ended up selling us a sake set.  I'm not even sure why we bought it, only because it is sitting pretty on one of our bookshelves.

Funny story!  ;D

I tried the stuff once (when I was in Japan), and didn't care for it...

I've always seen it served in a ceramic bottle with ceramic cups.  I actually made a set and gave it to my sister-in-law one Christmas.  :)
