It is hereditary.  It might be a recessive feature so that you need two copies of it.  therefore gemini needs to find out if any of the grandparents can.

the ability to roll or not roll your tongue is a dominant/recessive inheritance. If both you an your wife carry Tt genes for the trait (where T means can roll and t means can't roll and T is the dominant gene) then they will combine to produce children in one of three ways TT, Tt or tt.  only the first two could roll their tongues and the third variant could not.  (loosely summarises from a chapter on hereditary in Human Anatomy and Physiology Elaine N Marieb which uses tongue rolling as an example of dominant/recessive inheirtance.
