Subject: How far will you go to save money? A little survey...

Written By: ADH13 on 07/05/05 at 1:31 am

Do you:

1. Clip coupons for groceries, etc?

2. Take your bottles and cans to recycling places that pay?

3. Buy generic brands of products?

4. Turn off lights and TV every time you leave the room?

5. Drive past more than one gas station to find a cheaper one?

6. Pick up coins that you find on the sidewalk?

7. Return merchandise if you find it cheaper someplace else?

8. Haggle with sellers to get a better price?

9. Send in mail-in rebates?

Bonus Question:

Have you ever sent a letter in the mail, putting the recipients address as the return address, with no postage?  That way, when it gets stamped "Return to Sender" it will go where you intended it to go?

1. Clip coupons for groceries, etc? No

2. Take your bottles and cans to recycling places that pay? No - is there such a thing? Lol.

3. Buy generic brands of products? Some products if I think I can get away with it. Bread and cereals are usually bad cheap alternatives.

4. Turn off lights and TV every time you leave the room? I make a point of turning off the lights if I am out of the room these days.

5. Drive past more than one gas station to find a cheaper one? i don't drive.

6. Pick up coins that you find on the sidewalk? Depends on the value, lol.

7. Return merchandise if you find it cheaper someplace else? No.

8. Haggle with sellers to get a better price? I may do with second hand goods, not neccessarily in a store.  ;D

9. Send in mail-in rebates? I don't know what that is.

I have never deliberately not paid postage so that the other person has to pay it - though I have had that done recently to me.  ::)

If you put the recipients name as the return address, nobody has to pay it... because the post office will return it to the sender, and since the recipients name is in the "sender" spot, guess where it will be "returned" to?

9. Send in mail-in rebates? I don't know what that is.

When you buy something (usually electronics but sometimes even things like pantyhose) they raise the price, but there will be a form inside.. if you fill out the form and mail it in, they send you money back...  sometimes only $1.00 but sometimes (like if you buy a computer) the rebates are over $100

Do you:

1. Clip coupons for groceries, etc? Nope. I would clip coupons but then forget to bring them to the grocery store so I figure, why bother?

2. Take your bottles and cans to recycling places that pay? Yup-we recycle almost EVERYTHING so a few extra change, why not?

3. Buy generic brands of products? Sometimes-it depends on what it is. There is a difference with some things.

4. Turn off lights and TV every time you leave the room? Yup

5. Drive past more than one gas station to find a cheaper one? It dpends on how much cheaper the gas is.

6. Pick up coins that you find on the sidewalk? Yup

7. Return merchandise if you find it cheaper someplace else? Nope

8. Haggle with sellers to get a better price? Depends on what it is and what the price listed.

9. Send in mail-in rebates? Yup-when I remember to (several times I mean to do it but then forget.)

Bonus Question:

Have you ever sent a letter in the mail, putting the recipients address as the return address, with no postage?  That way, when it gets stamped "Return to Sender" it will go where you intended it to go? Nope but one time my sister found a stamp that wouldn't stay on. The funny thing was, it left some glue so it looked like there was a stamp on it. She mailed off many letters with this one stamp. Because there was glue on the envelope, the Post Office thought the stamp fell off and gave her "credit" for it.
