As for the programme, it is currently still on Friday nights at 7:30 on BBC1, but is due for a change and be boardcasted on Sunday nights on BBC2 with a new format of a programme, showing the current hits along with some retro.

Trust the BBC to completely fudge up TOTP. Friday night's always been (as far as i can remember) TOTP night. And now they're changing it to sundays and adding retro to it? That's just wrong. They should keep it on Friday nights, and quit the whole retro thing. That's what they've got TOTP2 for isn't it?

BBC2 at that time is a Natural HIstory programme or sport coverage, of which sport helped to kill off TOTP2.

You do have to remember that the BBC is funded by public money through the TV Licence scheme and has to be aware on how to spent it. The other channels rely on commercials from income and is a different subject matter.

That's right. Satellite and cable TV are far more readily available to anybody now than ever with it's pop videos and, as you say, up to the hour information on whatever music you desire. Top of the Pops can't handle something that was once 'up to date' for them. You can find out what's no 1 in the charts at almost anytime now which was something you couldn't do say 10 years ago (it was either Top of the Pops or you had to wait for Sunday Radio 1 Charts).

TOTP has been on Thursdays.
