I was looking at the stats for posting and discovered that there are about 25 pages (about 30 members per page) of people who joined the board but never posted. I don't get it. Why join a message board if you are not going post? Anyone care to comment on this?

Maybe they never get around to it. They think, "I'll register now, and then I'll post one of these days. But I can't today" And then flat-out forget. Could be, I know my friend Icy almost did.

I've been wondering about that too! I even clicked on some of their profiles, and some of them do have a "last active" date (which is just a few minutes or so after they've registered), but others have "Never" in that space. I wish I knew why people did this. ::)

on another board that i'm a member of, we have close to 1800 members but only about 100 regular posters. i know i joined quite few forums but it didn't feel right when i stuck around reading the posts. most likely these people who joined but never posted just didn't like it here.

I know on the Wrestling-Edge forums you have to join to view anything, i have never posted a message but am a member. Maybe people think the same applys here???

it could be someone on these boards has a link in their sig on another forum. people there click the link and come here. they sign up and never come back.

It's been a long time since this place got started. A cleanup might be nice, though. Make us smaller. People who never've used the site could be gotten rid of, but allowed to re-register, but be given a period after which they must post or be cleared again. Something like that, maybe.

Plus, some people just want their names to be seen on the "Newest Member" thing so they can get a laugh or something. "Ilovesexiboysdicks" was one of them, and I just saw a few like that over my course of posting.

When I first found this place, I thought you had to join to post (I was looking for a song), so I joined. I can't say that I regretted it, but I find myself here A LOT when I should be doing other things.  ::)

You think the filter would apply to names too. I know with Ashkicksa*s it does, but not with anyone else... Hmm... At least I haven't seen.

I remember one time seeing a new member by the name of f**kyou (I edited it but it was spelled out). It may have been on the old board because when I went to look up that member, there was no such person-unless he/she's account was deleted.

No, it used to be "Ashkicksass" just as I typed it. When a swear is part of another word, like, say kickass or goddamn, they don't get filtered. Hers was deliberately changed by either a request via-PMS from a moderator or changed by the moderators without Ash's consent.

On a similar note, I remember someone named Asskicker who changed the A to an "at" symbol (so it looks like @sskicker).

Do you have to receive the email confermation before you can make your first post? I know someone who joined, never received her email but her name in in the list as a registered member

I think you do. If she hasn't recieved her e-mail, she should contact Chucky in the "Penguin News" section.

;D ;D ;DIt used to be that names were immune from editing,but for some reason editors decided to do it,to prevent obscene stuff from appearing as someone's name,.Cheers!
