Subject: Cursive Writing or Printing?

Written By: CeramicsFanatic on 03/09/05 at 2:40 pm

Most of the time I write in cursive, so I would say that is my preferred method. :)

I usually print, especially when i'm using the Cyrillic alphabet.Otherwise it's hard to read.

Cursive...if it's done in a legible sort-of way...

Normally mine is like a curious hybrid of the two, though it's better when I'm not rushed...

Printing...that's what I primarily use nowadays. I only use cursive handwriting when I make a signature (i.e., on legal documents and the like).

I hate cursive. We were always forced to use it, and I could never read my own writing. Now, with print, I can ALMOST read my writing!  :D

print.  I haven't been able to write cursive since I started using a computer for writing , almost 20 years ago.  Dang, has it been 20 years now... man...

An odd mix. I alternate between the two.. if i am writing something for myself, i print it so i can read it.. if it is for someone else i use my cursive scrawl, which is much faster but far less ledgible

Since my cursive could lead one to believe that I am a Doctor....I print!

I use print for everything except signatures. My hand always cramps up when I try to write in cursive.

You have very neat handwriting Paul.  My daughter even commented on it :)

I prefer to print.  However, if I'm writing a note that I don't want anyone to be able to read I use Pitman's shorthand. :D

I always print. In fifth grade all we could write in was cursive or we got an F on the paper, so it caused me to hate it ever since then.

Mine is a hybrid of the two, also.

I prefer to type everything.  When that's not possible, I usually end up with a weird random combo of print, cursive & other assorted unidentifiable markings ... sometimes, you can even almost read it.

When I was in 2nd grade, my teacher used to mix cursive handwriting with printing (especially on words ending with -al), and it drove some of the kids (including me) nuts. So we wanted to learn how to do cursive handwriting.

I usually print everything because my cursive writing is so terrible and it is hard to read. Even I can't read my own handwriting. (Even though I have heard that the sign of a genius is messy handwritting.  ;) )  But, I actually perfer to type. If I am writting a personal letter, I usually type it but sign my name. As someone once said "The pen gets in the way of my writing).

I print mostly. Generally with all caps only using smaller size caps where the lower case letters would be.

BASICALLY I WRITE LIKE THIS. MY CURSIVE IS SOMETHING I AM NOT ABLE TO READ MYSELF!

I usually write like that.. I had to rewrite an essay once because they wouldn't accept it written like that  ???

It depends on what it is whether I write it or type it.  My hand writing is readable, though I do the scientist thing of putting random spaces between the letters in longer words.  I never learned the full 'joined-up' writing style so it probably isn't what you would call cursive (though it sometimes makes me curse!)

When I was a student they used to insist that all essays and reports were word processed but then expected you to hand write a two hour exam.  I lost the art of writing a lot of words quickly like that.

Same here. Some time when I was in high school, I began to think that my cursive handwriting was kinda sloppy, so from that moment on, I primarily used printing.

But, I actually perfer to type. If I am writting a personal letter, I usually type it but sign my name. As someone once said "The pen gets in the way of my writing."

I prefer to type as well. But if I write a personal letter (like, to a family member), I hand write it, neatly.

One thing that I like about typing is a little thing called spell check.  ;D

Especially on the computer. On the typewriter, if you make a mistake, you have to use a little thing called correction ribbon, and it'll make your document look messy. (Say, that gives me an idea for a poll..."typewriter or computer"...but I think computer would win hands down.) And if you want to insert something, you have to go back and retype that page... all over again. When I was a freshman in high school, we had a computer at home but no printer. So I had to type my report on the typewriter, and I did make a few mistakes, so I did have to type one page over again. And as a result, I didn't get to bed until 11:00 that night. (We bought the printer the next day, by the way.)

Are you Russian or Slavic?

I print.  I haven't handwritten since the 5th grade.  The only thing I can handwrite now is my name for signatures.
